Only just found your channel Jim. I have just retired from the motor trade after50 years. in all that time I have never seen a workshop so well kept, equipment so pristine, and a tech so good, and knowledgeable. Keep up the good work mate.
Thankful you put this kind of attention on these types of work, transforming a mediocre build into an authentic work of Art. That's completely gorgeous, with just the right amount of polish to make it really standout from so many other's I've seen.
I'm rebuilding a 1982 gs850. This is my first full motorcycle engine tear down and reassembly since I got everything vapor blasted. First off, without these videos and the Suzuki manual I would be completely lost when it came to the crankcase and transmission. Anyways, I got the crankcase halves together today and torques everything down, flipped the engine and got ready to put the head studs in when... Oops I forgot to put the new timing chain on the crank 🤦♂looks like its coming back apart.
Gosh where do I begin you have made me able to rebuild my Suzuki GSXR 1000 2002 your videos are so awesome I mean I can't even begin to thank you I'm halfway done with this I'm on part 3 and you're just amazing and thank you very much for sharing all your knowledge being a woman I don't get a lot of lift service from knowledgeable guys I get a bunch of crap usually but I love my motorcycle I love her so much and she's been down for over a year cuz she started knocking anyways thank you thank you so much thank you again and again brother I'm Nikki Wolfe from Mound house Nevada
My Son was given a 1979 GS850, had not run properly for nearly 12 years. We spent every weekend for a year just to get it running and to roadworthy condition. Very time consuming but extremely rewarding. That engine looks awesome, well done Jim.
Made it look so easy!! I wish I had all your tools and your knowledge! I have a 1981 GS 1000 L that needs some work (still running last season) and I want to learn how to fix it myself. Thank you for your videos! You Rock!!
Great vid, such great work. In a business perspective, when you do the math, you are probably working at a indecently low hourly rate but I guess you love your craft so much that finally, it's not all that important. I get it, I often do the same. Have a nice week-end.
Great series and all credit to your skills that have been learnt over many years. Cerakote is such a perfect finish for bike engines - have you considered using a clear coat to keep areas fresh and easily cleaned ?
That is a proper job there. Niiiice. Agree, shame you didn’t get to start her up. Look forward to some education when you come up for air at the end of the season. 👍
I have a 81 Suzuki Gs650 and it's developed and horrific lower end knock when under load. Idling and at certain RPMs it's not there. With these engines being roller needle bearings is it correct to assume it's a wrist pin? Maybe the pin bushings are shot? Where are you getting parts?
Hi Jim great video as usual I'm looking to rebuild an old cbr 600f3 do you have any recommendations for an engine stand as I'm just a novice so don't know what to buy?
This is the stand I used in this video. Only used it for a couple of builds so far but in very happy with it. www.sealey.co.uk/product/5637788879/100kg-engine-rebuild-stand---multi-cylinder
Hey Superbike hello from the states, I have a general question I've got 750 t version(2 of them actually )neways my main rider is due for the valve check I was curious how much did it cost for just a general build rings Valve seals head gasket, where did you find a shim kit or did you have to find out what u needed then ordered them?
Currently working on a 1982 that was seized. That problem is fixed and the bike is pretty much together. I am possibly having trouble with cam timing because I have compression on 1/4 but not 2/3. I have 22 pins between the 2/3 marks on the cams with 1/4 at TDC and the 1 mark parallel with the engine surface. Can you offer any advice?
Hi dear. Thanks for useful video. But hope u talk less and save time for showing things. Example!! I wish u show how u located crankshaft and gearbox which I really need to know about them. But u spend time to explain what u going to do when u going to show in few minutes later instead show how u place most important parts . Hope u use valuable time in ur video to show practically. Some people lessening is poor and need to watch more. Thanks

I relate to the OCDing over every bolt. I love it. I am the same way. Thank you for all your knowledge and help.

Absolutly stunning result!👌 .
Would have liked to see how the zinc plating of the bolts was done.
Beautiful! What gasket dressing did you use for the cam end plugs and the valve cover gasket?
Stunning job!
Did u build that engine stand urself?
No, it's a Sealey one 👍

I was wondering, what is the hole in the ignition cover for? The one under the DOHC sticker?
Thank you
