I should be heading off to the cyclopean lairs of the Mycenaean warrior kings tomorrow. Alas Tiryns of the mighty walls, Mycenae, Pylos will have to wait until this quarantine blows over. No new footage for a while unfortunately folks. Let me know what you'd likes to see covered during this bizarre time. My schedule is completely changed right now with a vast amount of projects (such as Bronze Age Greece) on hold indefinitely. SO let me know some new topics to delve into. Please like and subscribe if you enjoyed the vid as that's how TH-cam decides if you've enjoyed it or not, and why not share with a like minded history lover. Cheers guys! Onto the next one...
Why don't you continue with your schedule? I mean people wouldn't mind (They shouldn't) old/recycled footage. I mostly listen your videos, I guess many people do that. If you still insist on a new project, I think ancient mesopotamia is always an interesting object ( I really liked Jericho video, sea scroll was pretty good, too. ). Even in podcasts, you can find so many ancient greece, not that much for mesopotamia. Egypt might entice people's interest as well.
History Time one of my favorite history periods is medivel mediterarien. So maybe the normans in north africa, almoravids, almohods, georgas golden age, medival iberia (Reconquista) or the frankish civil war and the treaty of verdun which let to the forming of germany and france. I am also a fan of stories about one main charackters. It would be cool of you one of those stories. Great Video btw.
I would dig deeper into the pharmacy and fertility of the Jaguar city all the while metal detecting for the Chief's golden hoards and gardens. Did you not see the enlarged sex organ on the mysterious pot figure?? Where were the prime cocoa growing plots and pleasure palaces of exotic redwood?? And what was their enlarged style of construction? How many specie of monkey live there and what are their habits vis a vis the jaguar and settlements?? After that I would be exploring Crete and Kalista for fields and settlements needing excavation and seeking the Minoan's large arteries of transportation with an eye to the presence of the earliest chariots in common usage around the Mediterranean. Will you find the Chariots of Atlantis for patroling the coasts and quickening shipments into the interior at Knossos? Lastly I would be attempting to reconstuct the island of Santorini/Atlantis before the great eruption with attention to the height and shape of the volcano of ancient birth that had been developing far and wide for thousands of years before the tragic eruption. Was it the Killimanjaro of the sea? We must find out.
Pete, there is nothing I love more than going to find a quiet spot somewhere, roll a doob, stick my earphones in and settling down with one of your videos. You're by far, one of the best story tellers EVER!!! My history teacher's enthusiasm only spurred on my passion for the past. I think you remind me of him. 👌👌
It's Makardhwaj. Makardhwaj was given Patal Lok by God Ram. Take a globe and pin it from India to the other corner... The opposite end has Honduras. And Patal Lok was considered exactly below the earth.

Pete - when I was a girl (late 50's early 60's), I was totally fascinated by archaeology. I read everything I could find on ancient meso-American, Egyptian, SE Asian, etc civilizations. I should have become an archeaologist, but other interests came along and I took another path. But what fun it is to see the things you bring to life in your videos on ancient civilizations! This particular one - Lost City of the Monkey God - is the most fascinating video ever made by anyone. Thank you!!
You go, girl. When I told an instructor back then I wanted to become an anthropologist, he told me women couldn't do the job. How the heroic women of today have changed things! Ha!
Meso America is a term invented in the 1960's. It just means Middle Americans. So why not just say Americans? Because that's what they are. Native Americans from the middle of America.
@@marceloorellana5726 Marcello - I appreciate your perspective. And I agree with it - all people from the tip of S. America to the Arctic are Americans, but it is an entire hemisphere of our planet. Meso America defines the central part of our hemisphere, it isnt' intended to be a way to classify the people who live there. That was and still is my intention - to define a geographical location. Thnk you for your comment :-)
@jboy you know what's crazy idek why but i thought the same thing after i read the comment. Sorry Connie not trying to be mean at all and i really don't know why your comment made me think this same thing. Sorry again no disrespect intended.
In 1987 I actually tried to find La Ciudad Blanca by taking a boat from Trujillo, Honduras to the Miskito Coast. I figured that "lost city" lay somewhere near the head waters of the Rio Platano and the Rio Paulaya. I was shipwrecked but saved by the Miskito Indians who lived in the village of Platano. I continued along the coastline to Brus Laguna, and then on to Puerto Lempira. I never got near where I thought that "lost city" was, but it was an excellent adventure. I tried again in 1997, traveling to the Rio Sico to get to Dulce Nombre de Culmi. I managed to get to some gold mines and stayed in the jungle in a tiny village with the miners. They wanted me to return the very next year with lots of guns and a few aluminum canoes so that we could explore the region down the Rio Sico and look for that Monkey God. I declined, but sometimes wish I had not. Fun times!
well, I'm so fascinated by heard about another monkey God, then Hanumaan (Monkey God in Hindu religion). if we studied further about Hanumaan, he had a son known as Makar-Dhwaj. and Lod Ram makes him the king of Pataal-Lok, which literally means the "world beneath the feet". And if you look at google earth and dig a straight hole in Uttar Pradesh in India, then it will come out from Honduras's rainforest region and around that area. This is all just my speculations. But it's painful to see such a great civilization lost in time forever.
Yes some of us have been thinking of the possibility of a Great flat earth, connected with other areas of earthly land. The old spiritual teachings in the Vedas describe seven listan of land, stretching out to the outermost of our Universe.
I checked. The exact other side of UP or Ayodhya or Hampi are all thousand miles away from Honduras in the South Pacific Ocean far away from any land lol
I was born in Honduras on the very edge of la Mosquitia. Surrounded by mayas, lencas, mosquitos indians and Garifuna. Amazed to hear my place of birth described in such exotic terms. Very great full though. Haven't been back in over 40 years. Still must be beautiful. I pray those still there can stay safe from the cartels. I hear they are taking over this little bit of paradise.
That's great, the history may not be lost though bro, In ancient Indian Vedic/Hindu Sanskrit text, A Monkey God called Lord Hanuman travelled to the land and a historical event occurred and was documented in Ancient Sanskrit text. Story of how Lord Hanuman(the monkey God) went to the land and defeated a demon adorning good over evil.. one of the stone statues found there identically depicts the Hindu/Vedic Lord Hanuman(monkey God). Maybe you can look into it further to find out more pleasing stuff about your history. These texts mentioned are thousands of years old too.
@@mischelle9530 What do you mean? Who wants to "change history"? (well besides the Americans, so it seems like they were the greatest thing in the world since their violent beginning, lolol)

Ancient history like this is so exciting. Thank you for sharing all this cool information. I had heard if one city in the jungle but not two... Im going to look into this more.. 💯♥️👍
Same here. I'm only 25 but I regret not enjoying history classes in school. Having some awful teachers didn't help but I really like learning about our past now.
The problem is how they teach history in school. It's all about memorizing names and dates for a test then forgetting it by the next test. My world history teacher pulled me aside about my low grades and by asking a few good questions he realized I understood WW2 better than my classmates in the why's and how's but couldn't memorize dates. That teacher got me to explain to my classmates the why's and how's to make up the grades and I have loved history ever since.
Your storytelling is next to none. There is historical content in your videos which you can’t find anywhere else except old historical books Which are long out of print nowadays. I just wanted to say thank you so much for your dedication. I certainly hope that you teach people in some capacity if we had more teachers like you would have more people on the right path. Thank you so much for your time wonderful job
Interesting 43:52 he is same as Lord Hanuman, may be he was Makaradhwaj Son of Lord Hanuman. It is mentioned in ancient Valmiki Ramayana that makardhwaj lives in a great forest. & Ancient Indian structure forts also built by architecture named as Mayasura.
It isn't unreasonable that pre ice age indians reached south america. It was likely there was a global spanning civilization before the ice age catastrophe.

But historians and archaeologists knew the conquistadors were prone to exaggerating the horrors of human sacrifice to demonize the Mexica culture. As the centuries passed, scholars began to wonder whether the tzompantli had ever existed. Archaeologists at the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) here can now say with certainty that it did. Beginning in 2015, they discovered and excavated the remains of the skull rack and one of the towers underneath a colonial period house on the street that runs behind Mexico City's cathedral. The Mosquito Coast is one of my favorite movies ever. Harrison Ford is a farmer and inventor who decides to move his family to the rain forest and buys a small village. He is obsessed with bringing ice to the natives. Then, a group of guerillas destroy everything he and his family have built.

The statue at 19:00-19:01 mins looks extremely similar to be a representation of Hanuman- the Monkey God in Hinduism. Maybe thousands of years ago the world civilizations were more fluid and adventurous- with exchange of socio-cultural thoughts & ideas between different people & geographies! The people in the Indian subcontinent were extremely accomplished maritime traders, explorers and had outstanding knowledge in arts and sciences. There must have been exchanges and contacts. Really can’t deduce anything directly in absence of direct evidences, but, who knows how it was all those millennia ago!!!!!!!
LoL. Are you saying that it is impossible for people to come up with their own ideas of a monkey-god without copying it from somewhere else… monkeys are found in both Old and New Worlds

Many of the indigenous people in the Amazon basin used a technique called 'slash and char' to create areas for agriculture. The soil they created is called Terra Preta and has the benefit of holding nutrients within the soil instead of leaching out. But today, slash and burn means the land is suitable for a short time for agriculture.
We have been enjoying an early Spring here in Southern Ontario which has been a wonderful thing in these Covid Times. Today however the temperature has dropped and there is a light blanket of snow on the gardens leaving me in a bit of a foul mood. But nevermind! Visually stunning, musically tasteful, intelligent and enthisiastic commentary. On top of all that your voice and accent are appealing and soothing. Thank you!
I've done surveys on archaeological digs in Honduras, Peru, and Chile. The oldest known civilizations in the Americas are from those regions. With Peru and Chile it was obvious that they were driven into those regions by hardship. When I saw Honduras I was like "Okay, I can see why someone would set up shop here".
Too sad the government isn't taking care of it. Corruption is overwhelming among the people in Honduras. You can see it everywhere in the small nation. Good luck Honduras, you deserve better!
@@MrDKA1 which is it, the people or the government that is corrupt? Are you really insinuating that the entire nation is corrupt, because that's not a good look.

It seems that one of the figure shown in the news article at 23:21 is very famous Monkey God ' Lord Hanuman' from India and the very recent discovery on the Angkor wat also points to the main Deities (Vishnu) in the temple also from India. Perhaps, when doing studies, scholars must take of into account the ancient Indian History/ divine figures for easy understanding.

When I was a boy in the late 1950's and early 1960's, there in the cool and quiet rooms of the local Carnegie library were glass cabinets and glass topped display tables holding dozens of pre-columbian figurines, so housed to be visible from any angle. They were mementos of trips to Mexico, Central America, and the bluffs of the nearby Mississippi River. I think they were brought back by one of the librarians, but then again there were patrons of culture who supported that library. How I wish I had paid more attention to those objects. Today, no such unguarded display could be put out, nor could those objects be even legally acquired. They were in my boyhood time a center of controversy, being proof of human culture existing before the arrival of the pioneers and extinguishment of the "red race" and conveniently the Indians' claims upon the land. But at that time those controversies were over and above my concerns and only of note for their intrusion into my endeavors, an unwelcome annoyance from the world of adults.
Another great documentary man! We are spoiled with this hour and fifteen minute runtime:) I have been eagerly awaiting this since its announcement a couple days ago. You've just opened an entirely new world of history and culture of the natives in the Americas for me and many others im sure. Amazingly informative and well done. Look forward to more history of Native Americans (Aztec one was great) and others civilization's, lost to time.
I wish more people would give it more attention. There were so many different cultures, empires, myths, legends, and so much more that will never get rediscovered because some idiots thought burning everything down was a mandate from some levantine god.
Stop calling them Natives. They are Americans. People from America are Americans. Everyone else who came from Europe are European Americans. Or from Africa, African Americans. But people from America are just Americans. No one says Native Africans or Native Europeans. So they are Americans just Americans.
Big Al' I don't know if you'll see this after so long. But I have to say a pretty big history nerd and I don't really consider the Aztec to be a great civilization. There are key things about the Aztec that are ignored because of fantasy and that is that they didn't really build their own civilization. Before they were called Aztec they were simply called war dogs. They were largely a nomadic warring tribe that literally made everyone's life miserable. We find through records that they through constant warring managed to push out the native tribe's that built these cities and took them over. They pushed them down into South America where they integrated in with their cousins but they never forgot what the Aztec did to them. These records were passed down through oral histories and codex that have been translated, as well as what the conquistadors found out while there. So in the end I just can't appreciate the Aztec as a great civilization because on their own merits they didn't build they only destroyed.
So True, though the culture and history has been lost to the area only not entirely... This is an ancient Indian civilization.. reference to the monkey god is an Indian Hindu/Vedic religious God called Lord Hanuman.. texts documented in ancient Indian texts called Sanskrit will give you all the answers. This area was said to be the land where a demon dwelled and ruled. An epic battle/incident occurred thousands of years ago where Lord Hanuman (monkey god) defeated the demon King and good adorned over evil in a short summary. Involves great warriors, saint's,sages and wisdom.
Ben Ehrenreich writes in his Desert Journal book, recently published that: "Disease was the best way to kill people before the invaders ever got there." He writes of historical stories about conquests of Central and South America, and Native Americans in the desert southwest, disease was the most potent of killers, once the conquest got to where it was going, they killed the rest and plundered them for good measure.
Jaguars are indeed seen as powerful spiritual animals, the jaguar is known as the eater of souls which sounds terrible but actually means it is a healing animal, eats a persons soul, heals it and returns it to the person. I knew a Central American shaman, Martin Prechel, several years ago and he told me how his teacher told him he needed a totem of a living jaguar. So he went off into the jungle and was sat leaning against a tree with his eyes closed meditating, he opened his eyes and a living jaguar was inches from his face. Bear in mind each year jaguars kill people, he lifted his hand and plucked a whisker from the jaguars face. The jaguar turned, urinated on him then walked away.
As someone from latian america, I want to thank you for this. All this history has been erased from us, and we need to recover it. This is our history too.
@Muad'Dib well I would. I would also say if you haven't read it how could you say that? One of its purposes is to be a history for it people. What you don't know is it has history on history in it. Devananda das Hardly. No (even circumstantial) evidence Hanuman was worshiped by the indus valley civilisation. Their connection to vedic religion is little more than speculation at this point, but not unlikely. A connection to Hanuman specifically though is just not there at all! On the other side of the earth we have Honduras and a monkey god in a culture that cannot have had any connection to the vedic religions at all! The last time anyone there could have had contact with an ancestor of the indus valley people is over 10.000 years before the indus valley civilisation began (and that’s pushing it), and then we have to add another 4-5.000 years before this monkey god appears! Besides the fact that both look like monkeys there’s literally no connection between the two.
During the horror of Nicaragua’s Communist assault and attempted genocide of the Miskito, a couple of my compadres and I obtained a load of vaccines and headed up, by vehicle and then on foot for the Miskito Villages from where we were in Tegucigalpa, Hondo. There was a 90 percent death rate amongst the Miskito children due to preventable diseases. We vaccinated children until we ran out of vaccines. I am glad to know that there are at least 22k Miskito today. Some of the children I met on that long hike survived, I am thinking. Makes me glad that their history is being recognized and restored.

A couple of years ago I bought (and read) a book about this 2015 expedition written by one of my favorite mystery writers, Douglas Preston, who was part of Elkin's team. It is titled, of course, "The Lost City of the Monkey God." It is truly a good read for anyone interested in this subject.
He's one of my favorite authors and I told my husband about this book but he wasn't super interested. Then Douglas Preston came to my city to speak about it and do a signing. I convinced my husband to go with me and hearing him talk about it, he was enthralled and bought his own copy of the book so we could each have our own signed, lol
There is still so much archeological meat to be unearthed here. And it's the kind of work we can do without being terrified that we are doing to soon. We are quite good at preserving and studying large settlements covered in stone. I mean all the surface layer stuff could be done here without comprimising any future digs. And would actually probably be protecting many of the artifacts from falling prey to looters.
Haha that whole area in Egypt is completely buried under the city. Could you imagine what is really below all of that sand and city. We will never know unfortunately
You mean America. There is no Latin America. There is America. That Latin word was invented by a French European in the mid 1800's. It's always been America. Just America. Full of Americans.
I look at mysteries like this and it makes me think that evolution happens drastically faster than what we actually think. Not millions of years, but only thousands. Well done with the video; you have some of the most researched content on TH-cam.
Older videos on mudfossil university channel will explain how these structures were built. Hint: they're biological. Remains form valuable commodities, motive for cover up..imo
Why would you come to that conclusion? The fact that this well made historical video made you think something so ridiculous just shows how willing people are to believe misinformation, or even just make it up themselves.
I would like to know more, about the Incas. And what they had in the jungle, I'm from Ecuador and all that were there. It's destroyed and all the things that were awesome , are in another counties o they are just lost. The most famous place and also destroyed is the "cave of the Tayos" to this place came the most important people at the time. And there wer tablets in another language , maybe our language. These tablets were made in gold . And a lot of this, also the people that lived there , they were "giants " And a lot of things that people think they were Aliens. Thanks
I think he has listened to American documentaries from the 1980's that I enjoyed as a kid. His speech, his choices for background music and its volume, and the legnth of time each picture is presented is exactly how the majority of American nature, archaeological, and historical documentaries were produced in the 70's and 80's.
Go on line to the Tozzer Anthropolgical Library of Harvard University. It began as a Meso American library. I had the privilege of microfilming it's Catalog division. A jewel kept secret.

This city story seams similar to the countless story and findings of hundreds of gold and stone sculptures in Alajuela and Guanacaste of what once was the Nicoya Empire. A empire that shared the Mayan-Inca cultured. Many stories from both of the Incas and Mayans tell that every “year” they visited the wisemen of the spheres. Today hundreds of giant rock spheres are found all over Costa Rica, and a pattern has been found between many of the rocks all over the country, connecting Cuba and the Easter island of Chile. Also due to a plain crash in the jungle many of the people describe and took photos of what looked like giant entrances of the biggest Mayan cities in Mexico and also giant piramidal mounts of dirt. In 2011 when this incident happened, there was a lot of impulse for explorations explorations and to research a bigger part of the already known city of Guayabo (only 0.6% of the territory is accesible to the public and it is believed to have even temples, where as the accesible part was were the lower class lived.) However this quickly vanished as the Costa Rican government was against it due to their high interest in protecting nature
Great presentation. Cool, relaxing apropriate music complementing the topic and setting the mood. It's much like the way documentaries were done in the 70's and 80's, that I watched as a kid.
The history of various cultures is incredibly interesting and while I am from the UK and most history that I have studied is European based, The Latin and American nations hold much mystery and fascination! Yes Greece, as you mention in your comments is of particular interest to me, particularly Alexander and subsequent rising powers after his passing, encompassing the "Goat" power " (Aegean meaning Goat sea) of Dany'el prophecy is of course truly fascinating since history backs up prophecy here in many ways! I like the way you put forward ideas without demanding that people accept your ideas as truth, but simply as a suggestion for consideration! Another interesting point is the connection between Cambodian and Myan and Central South American cultural differences, but similarities! I live next door in Thailand and have seen some of the Cambodian Rock temples! Next direction for you? I don't know - Cambodia??????Thailand??? Whatever you decide, you will create much interest! Thank you for all your efforts, a really good and interesting watch!
Hi there, agree with you... This is an ancient Indian civilization and has been documented in old/ancient Indian text called Sanskrit. Refer to the Indian God Lord Hanuman.. depicted as a monkey.. Monkey features... And even in Cambodia... That's ancient Indian civilization religion..Hindu religion with buddhism though it's from a more recent time than the Honduras found I believe... It's said that an ancient battle occurred in the area of the Americas but known as ancient names not the present one.. Lord Hanuman (monkey god) won against an evil king/demon and good was adorned over evil. Even with Greece as you mentioned.. documented battles with Alexander the Great defending their civilization and people to even fight alongside the Greek(city of Olympus/Olympians). To stories of how measles and smallpox affected the people and a God/divine reincarnation in human form of the lord helped the people create a natural cure to it. The chile pepper and other stuff farmed are more indicators. The devil mentioned here was real.. a demonic entity defeated the monkey god(in Hindu religion known as Lord Hanuman).
It was only a matter of time. The Aztecs were my first historical specialism back in undergrad days. I'm planning on making a substantial series on the Americas, covering every major culture. Of course the Maya and Aztecs will need trilogies of their own.
The Mayans get tossed into one single group... but that isn't the truth at all. It is just easier for people to comprehend. There was multiple civilizations down there. And still is
Didn't read the other 1.5k comments, but I am super elated you dudes brought up the Norte Chico region of the central Andean coast. Shit is so fascinating there and all along the coast

Anytime there's a new History Time, I make the time to watch! PLEASE consider doing a Gobekli Tepe doc. I'm so tired of looking it up and only seeing a couple of legit videos on it, while the rest are about aliens or energy fields and crap like that. There's so much interest in it, as well as in Catalhoyuk. Stefan Milo has a good talk on it, but I would love to see a History Time doc in all its splendor on this incredible, enigmatic site. One other idea while I'm here; The Griffin Warrior of Pylos- that agate that was found in his tomb is the most beautiful work of art I have ever seen!
TheLacedaemonian300 Way ahead of you on this one. Great minds ey! I’ve had the trip locked in for a while. CatalHuyuk too. They’ll both have to wait now until this all blows over unfortunately. And yes!! I should be going to see The Griffin Warrior this week! It’ll have to wait though unfortunately. Visiting in person makes for a much better piece all round so I will wait until travel restrictions are lifted
@@HistoryTime Either you're reading my mind or I'm reading yours! Or perhaps there really is something to this whole Gobekli Tepe energy field thing ;) Till that time comes, stay safe out there. I can't wait for the Mycenaean doc!!
I would recommend for you guys to read Cartas de Relación- Hernán Cortez. I believe they were written during a 10 year period. Very interesting stuff there you can find a reference to black people living amongst other natives. It also describes how Mexico was conquered by the conquistadors. I believe the letters were written to then emperor Carlos V of Spain. Highly recommend this book!
ALL IN You’re so stupid for thinking that I don’t already know this. Of course black people where the first people on earth all evidence points to that conclusion. But by that time they(pure Blacks) were a minority in central America. If you read my comment I never said blacks weren’t natives. I said they lived amongst OTHER natives! If the above comment is all your brain can contribute I feel sad for you! 🤦🏻♂️✌🏼
Sidney Fein of course he exaggerated a bit his job depended on it, he wanted to go back to Spain a very rich man. For instance in his book he claimed that natives practiced cannibalism when in fact he had witnessed them eating monkeys. However there’s more evidence that shows blacks came here before Columbus the oldest skull to date in America was found in Brazil. It is no surprise that it ended up being of African Origen and there’s also linguistic evidence that show similarities between African languages and some native languages.
@ALL IN You really aren't very bright are you? It's kind of charming, though, you giving your cartoonish afrocentric bs as if you were sharing something important and factual. Let me guess: the ancient Egyptians were also black? hahahahahaaha
I used to run around those mounds like everyday when I lived in st Louis area. Being from Oklahoma I got to see the eclipse there. The tribe played war drums was crazy insane almost in path of totality too
I should be heading off to the cyclopean lairs of the Mycenaean warrior kings tomorrow.
The Classic and Postclassic cultures of Mesoamerica, notably the Teotihuacanos and Toltecs.
Looking forward! My favorite architecture! Stay safe my dude

Fun times!
I’m working with the Miskito and hope to visit this site soon. I love beautiful Honduras 🇭🇳
That is awsome
well, I'm so fascinated by heard about another monkey God, then Hanumaan (Monkey God in Hindu religion). if we studied further about Hanumaan, he had a son known as Makar-Dhwaj. and Lod Ram makes him the king of Pataal-Lok, which literally means the "world beneath the feet".
And if you look at google earth and dig a straight hole in Uttar Pradesh in India, then it will come out from Honduras's rainforest region and around that area.
This is all just my speculations. But it's painful to see such a great civilization lost in time forever.
@Frank Pina I hope you’re not serious…if so you are on the wrong video comment section. We do not play into the “flat earth” narrative over here.

2015 Some conquistadors wrote about the tzompantli and its towers, estimating that the rack alone contained 130,000 skulls.
(The other tower, they suspect, lies under the cathedral's back courtyard.) The scale of the rack and tower suggests they held thousands of skulls, testimony to an industry of human sacrifice unlike any other in the world

Many of the indigenous people in the Amazon basin used a technique called 'slash and char' to create areas for agriculture. The soil they created is called Terra Preta and has the benefit of holding nutrients within the soil instead of leaching out. Really interesting didnt know the city on monkey god was in Honduras! Honduran pride 🇭🇳
Has it been discovered and where is it ?

They were in my boyhood time a center of controversy, being proof of human culture existing before the arrival of the pioneers
and extinguishment of the "red race" and conveniently the Indians' claims upon the land.
But at that time those controversies were over and above my concerns and only of note for their intrusion into my endeavors, an unwelcome annoyance from the world of adults.

When I was a very young boy I lived in Greenwood MS. And I remember Indian mounds in the cotton fields.

This is AWESOME!!!!! I've heard the legends vaguely but this documentary is truly comprehensive. History Time does it again!!!!!!

Oh, I love a good precolumbian civilization, especially one I'm unfamiliar with!

In 2011 when this incident happened, there was a lot of impulse for explorations explorations and to research a bigger part of the already known city of Guayabo (only 0.6% of the territory is accesible to the public and it is believed to have even temples, where as the accesible part was were the lower class lived.)
However this quickly vanished as the Costa Rican government was against it due to their high interest in protecting nature

Very interesting stuff there you can find a reference to black people living amongst other natives. It also describes how Mexico was conquered by the conquistadors. I believe the letters were written to then emperor Carlos V of Spain. Highly recommend this book!
Historians tend to view Cortez's journals as suspect, a lot of exaggeration to impress Spain. The fountain of youth comes to mind.

francesquitor 2.0 He was born in what today is Belgium but yes he was king of Germany and Spain.
