    I'm a college student studying graphic design and after seeing lots of reviews comparing the wacom one and the iPad I think the wacom one is more functional since it supports desktop software. Yeah it lacks portability but if you are more focused on the drawing aspect I suggest a wacom one.

    Any wacom product would be ideal for those who are specializing in the creative industry (animators, film makers, multimedia artists, etc.). Whereas an ipad would be better-suited for the more casual/on-the-go artists out there, or those who simply don't prefer desktop software. That is not to say that one can't have both.
    However I do recommend getting a wacom cintiq instead if you're specializing in the creative industry, the wacom one might be too small for big work. Many big-shot companies use wacom products.

    • @vindoodles7346
      @vindoodles7346 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Not to mention that the starter Cintiq 16, which is about 200 dollars more than the Wacom One, has a better pen and a larger display. If you can already afford a 300+ dollar display, may as well save an extra month and get the higher-end product.

    In my opinion, the Wacom One is not a "portable" device by any definition. It needs to be plugged into a wall to function, and has a lot of cablage that needs to be taken with it. I'm seeing a lot of confusion in the comments. The Wacom One is a secondary display- *not* a computer. It's a monitor that you can draw on and nothing more. Just like its slightly larger cousin the Cintiq 16, it's really meant more for a desk than a backpack. There's really no good comparison to be made between it and the iPad pro; They're completely different products created for different uses.

      You don't need an iPad pro. I'm using a regular iPad with a gen 1 apple pencil. There's a HUGE drawback though. Procreate, the best art app on the iPad, has limited layers depending on the canvas size and the iPad's capabilities. I'm currently working on a commission and one of the characters had animal companions which I had to draw on separate files and patch it all together in photoshop in order to preserve the separated layers. If you don't need the layers to be separated, you can also make duplicates to flatten and use in a different file in Procreate itself. Or you can also use other apps. One of my favorites is Autodesk Sketchbook, though I prefer Procreate because I can disable finger drawing and multiple fingers undo/redo so I can lean my hand on the screen. But personally, I'm trying to save up and get a Wacom One as well. I really love Sketchable and want to use it.

    This video was exactly what I was looking for and gave all the information I was after! But... I still can't decide.
    I have a Wacom Intous that I've had for almost four years that I love and adore, but I want to be able to leave my desk and draw digitally while watching telly or traveling on the train etc. I'd also like to try out something where you draw directly on to the tablet itself. I'd choose the Wacom One in a heart beat if it was portable, plus it's about half the price of an iPad + Apple Pen here in Australia. But the iPad feels like the more portable option. I'm not sure what to choose!

    • @silverblaize
      @silverblaize 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Honestly, the portability of the iPad is great, BUT I personally don't like it for drawing portably. I feel more productive when I'm at my desk, with my Wacom connected to my computer, so I can have reference images on my computer monitor while I draw into my Wacom. My desk is set up with a stand for the Wacom, so I draw in a good comfortable angle and position.
      But with the iPad, it's hard to get into a comfortable drawing position when you're out and about. Often times you'll just use a random table and force yourself to hunch over, hurting your back. Or you'll try to place it on your lap, or holding it in your hands, and trust me it gets very uncomfortable that it's hard to feel productive as compared to my home work station with my Wacom.
      If you REALLY want to be able to draw away from your desk, just get yourself a cheap sketchbook, since they come in different shapes and sizes. Nowadays you can take a photo of your art and import it into your drawing program if you want to color it.

    I was very skeptical about purchasing this iPad th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA at first since it was renewed/refurbished. I didn't want to spend a lot because I was getting it for my daughter who doesn't have a very good track record with tablets. I have got to say this iPad looks brand-new. If it didn't say renewed I would have no idea. My only concern and reason I give it a 4 star instead of 5 is because it does take a while to charge. The charger it actually came with took over a day to fully charge. Lucky I have a back up charger I tried and it charged faster still not as fast as I would like but it will do. If anything I can always try to buy a fast charger so it's not a deal breaker. I am very pleased with this product.

I suspect the latency of iPad and Sidecar isn't so good compared to a Wacom so probably not as useful for serious digital painting. I appreciate your in depth analysis for artists ✔️

      The iPad OS doesn't support the floating sensing cursor function. When it connects to a PC, it doesn't work as well as the Android galxy tab. Moreover, because of the 4:3 vertical and horizontal pen on the screen, you will get a large black edge on the screen.
      The Google store of Android and Chrome OS has launched an application called "super display", which can connect windows computers as cintiq wirelessly or by usb-c. the transmission delay is very low. The output pressure sense supports wacom Wintab API, and the tilt sense can also be used.

    My guess is the small lag in Wacom probabaly it's because it's still processing the synchrony of physical gestures with the digital and there's the transferring of the whole data between Wacom & the desktop/laptop. Bit where as with the iPad pro since it stands alone so it processes very quickly and not to mention it has a high performing processor beast.

And not to mention iPad's processor is no beast in comparison to a PC processor.

    As a comic and cartoon artist i can say is that
    ipadpro is even better than wacom mobile studio 16. believe me when i say it. İf you have budget and looking to buy a workstation its
    İpadpro. You can work on 4 5gbyte of files in clip studio and procreate. its super and best of all its mobile and small. You can drink you coffe near a pool at vacation and still finish up your projets upload your things to dropbox drive or whatever. İ even make my animations on ipadpro. Wacom one is a sub category its not a competition for ipadpro. its a bellow class for it. Even wacom cintiq is bellow.
    İ think ipadpro can only be compated to pro series of wacom.

İf you are not in need of using photoshop or clipstudio paint.. or video editing as pro levels. you dont need that much a powerfull device. Other brands have some equal stuff as well. However! if you need a pro device..something you need to make finished projects which contains gbytes loads of files ipadpro is the best option. Agreed. The only thing I would compare the ipad pro to is something like their wacom mobile studio. Here's my take on this.
    If you're a hobbyist and just wanna draw for fun , (actually you can do also professional illustrations in my opinion from watching so many TH-cam videos), I think the iPad is a better choice. Everything is there. No cable, no questionable computer processing power and most importantly portable.
    Since both wacom and iPad 10.2 don't have laminated displays, they are not better than one another in that regard.
    And if you want a laminated display, you can consider a Galaxy Tab S6 lite for a similar price that comes with a pen.
    At the end of the day, being able to draw beautifully depends on skill not the tools but the tools can definitely enhance the experience.
    I myself am also considering either an iPad 10.2 (cuz Procreate but I also wanna wait and see what 2020 holds for non Pro iPads ) and also even though I'm no apple fan (do not own other apple stuff), but I've been using my 2012 iPad til now proving the iPads' longevity.
    The galaxy tab S6 lite meanwhile has less processing power cuz I also wanna game on it if I can. But I want that laminated screen...
    What a dilemma ... I'm leaning on Apple . What for a casual amateur artist like me want a thousand ringgit second monitor when I can't even commit to drawing 🤣🤣 and not to mention by the time I boot up my pc, I also get bored already (mind, this coming from a fast gaming laptop boot time too )

      @aarupoudyal1378 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      my experience with the artist 12 pro was HORRIBLE!! don't get one if you can now...
      the build is bad same with the pen which broke extremely easy and pressure levels that were inconsistent...
      the low res 1920x1080 screen also hurt my eyes a lot compared to the iPads 2.5k screen...
      The product itself was heavy despite being made of cheap plastic and the button I had set to undo had became jammed and extremely hard to press after only 1 month...
      it was also a lot of hassle with the drivers and the plugs and wires to connect to my laptop
      the colours on both the tab s6 lite and iPad are MUCH better than the xppens display.
      The film on the 12 pro also got scratched up after only 1 month despite me setting to use it at light pressure
      One thing about the 12 pro was the cursor offset which was HUGE and also the lamination was not even good...
      For £250 this was a rip off, you also need a pc for this to work with so adds extra cost and is not portable!
      Basically, if you don't mind using medibang paint, krita, infinite painter, ibis paint etc then get the SAMSUNG TAB S6 LITE because it has a really good Wacom pen with a really good design and 64gb expandable up to 1tb storage! its only £350 and you get a WHOLE computer with an amazing pen without the hassle of drivers and cables. The laminated display on the s6 lite is also quite good paired up with the good resolution and colour accuracy!
      but if you want to get the iPad because of procreate I suggest the IPAD 8TH GEN because of the larger 10.2" display compared to the smaller 7.9" on the iPad mini. If you don't care about True Tone, screen lamination and 64gb instead of 32gb, then get the iPad 8 since it has the same processor as the mini! but if you want them and don't care too much about screen size then get the IPAD MINI 5! (but you need to pay extra for the Apple Pencil...)

      Wacom One is good due to the lower price and it can connect to Android
      Yet if you're aiming to use it at home/office without bringing it outside then it'll be better to buy Cintiq '16 because they have higher specs and the size of the screen is just right, it's comfortable to draw with
      The color on Cintiq '16 need to be adjusted though, but I think Wacom One will have the same issue. My laptop have a high screen res and color so it's not a problem, that's why I didn't buy Cintiq '16 Pro and went for the regular Cintiq '16

    Omgomgomgomg i hope you can answer this ASAP. I just got my wacom one and im a macbook air user and i saw that you were using the wacom one on macOS(?) so i kind of found hope. i tried connecting it, yet it still tells me it isn't compatible and "To use this app please connect a compatible display device such as a Cintiq or MobileStudio Pro" I even got a usb adapter to HMDI something like that although the screen of the wacom one remains black and the warning sign on my macbook is there. I was very excited to use this and I did get it on my birthday too.

    Im old school a bit i guess and still prefer drawing on my desktop using a non display tablet. I can get a huion that is comparable to the wacom intuous 4 I used to use for $60. Since I'm used to looking at the screen and drawing this way its not problem and I still get tilt support and all the stuff that matters. I do like using a IPad however as a portable sketchbook, and then I load it up on the computer to finish the work more. There are cheaper graphic displays as well too, and I believe its starting to be seen more in the workplace as well. Either way its great to have lots of options out there these days.

      I use Duet Display Pro to extend my PC into my mediocre 7th-gen iPad. It supports gesture and pressure sensitivity too. I'm surprised by the responsiveness. The laggy reviews on Duet Display mostly come with a mediocre laptop/PC, not much about the iPad. Mine is Ryzen 3800X, RTX 2060S, and 32 GB RAM. Solid performance.

    Wacom One uses the old "penabled" technology. Wacom should have at least used Intous 3 standard which itself is many years old but better. No one should buy this tablet. especially at it's insanely high price point. Otherwise the video was very good THANKS Teoh!

      Just get an Xp Pen pro. Wacom is overpriced and I suspect they'll lose significant tablet market share in the next 3 years. Apple pros display and pen truly feel like magic. I've used surface and Wacom and they just don't compare. Now that sidecar is a thing and with future improvements, I don't see Wacom competing against iPad and Mac os

      graphosxp it's Wacom. It's not like it's going to break down in like a month. Wacom charges dogshit prices for what you get but their build quality is superb. Not even XP-Pen or Huion has catched up yet. Yes, shit price, but if you've got money to poor in and don't want to risk buying others, this is a good choice.

      @@huzzerps recently sellers on ebay sold Cintiqs at very reasonable prices and I took advantage to buy some very low cost items. In an embarrassment of riches I now own several models and have given a couple out as gifts. I also have a few Wacom penabled devices. BUT Wacom has lost it's minds with this cheapo crippled device. Wacom always deliberately disabled tilt and pressure levels on Wacom devices from other branded sellers. The idea was not to cannibalize Cintiq sales by making the low end price stuff "to good". But now Apple is selling Ipads that are fantastic for artist and a better bang for the buck than Wacom. If I had nothing at all and had to start from scratch I would get an Ipad pro and a good Huion (or whatever) for the desktop. REMEMBER the "wacom one" has exactly the same quality of features that you can get from a penabled convertible laptop on ebay for $150. for example: www.ebay.com/itm/Fujitsu-Lifebook-T900-13-3-Windows-10-Intel-i5-M520-2-4GHz-4GB-RAM-500gb-w-Pen/193378576695?hash=item2d0642e937:g:Pa8AAOSwsKReaQ7X
