As am American we dont normally hear much positive things about Iran (or Iranians) unless we go out of our way to find them. Great job making sure his story doesnt fade.
Jalil Zandi, the most decorated F-14 pilot in the world, faced imprisonment and was nearly executed after refusing to fly a plane without proper navigation system in dangerous weather conditions. Similarly, Mahmoud Eskandari, one of the top F-4 pilots globally, was almost executed based on false accusations. He participated in H3 mission, 45-degree angeled bombing a stratigic floating bridge, and much more. Tragically, both men died in suspicious 'car accidents' shortly after their conflicts with the government.
Incredible video! Zandi was truly a hero, but he wasn't the only one, and his fate wasn't worse than many others. After the revolution, many Iranian pilots were dismissed because they were perceived as being too close to the former regime. They were fortunate not to have been executed. However, when the war officially started, many of these pilots returned, fought, and died-not for the regime, but to defend their invaded country. Zandi was undoubtedly a great pilot, but alongside him were Fereidoun Ali-Mazandarani and Fazlollah Javidnia, other Iranian ace F-14 pilots with many kills, possibly even more than Zandi. As for Babaei, he wasn't necessarily a bad person; rather, he was someone who could adapt to the new era in Iran. I've read many stories about him that describe him as a kind person and a capable commander. Of course, he had his share of mistakes and poor decisions. I believe he was definitely a complex, 'grey' character, but I still respect him because he fought for his country too

As an Iranian, . The issue, in short, is that Mr. Jalil Zandi's superior held a personal grudge against him. At that time, Zandi was ordered to perform a test flight or something similar with an old aircraft, whose name I don't recall. Zandi, unfamiliar with the flight path, requested to have someone accompany him, but his superior refused, and Zandi disobeyed the order. The point is that this incident occurred during the Iran-Iraq war, and according to the laws at the time, disobeying orders during wartime was considered a crime. As a result, Zandi was imprisoned, but after follow-ups by officials of that time, and a direct letter from the then-president, Ayatollah Khamenei, who is now the Supreme Leader, he was released. During the war, he earned many honors and was recognized for his achievements. His imprisonment had nothing to do with this event because he is before the revolution.
thanks for making videos of hero pilots of my country who had to fight against saddam in islamic regime to defend their country while in their heart they were against the regime which took over the country at that time.Another good and similar example was Mahmood Eskandari,a f4 phantom pilot who did incredible missions during the war between iran and iraq and was also imprisoned and accused of spionage.Yadollah sharifi rad was also a f5 pilot having the same destiny.
Glad I discovered this video. Never seen so much research into Imperial Iran. Interestingly I recently made a reel about the Shah’s Great Army where I talk about some of these too. Great Work!
This here is why I love hearing about other nation's histories, stories, myths, and legends. I may not have the time to study everything, but everything that I do end up learning is valuable. We all have our heroes, around the whole world, from all walks of life, through every imaginable kind of struggle.
When the movie TOP GUN and Tom Cruise were sweeping the box office, JALIL ZANDI was up in the sky doing the real deed ❤❤❤❤❤ It has to be noted that after the uprising in Iran, most of the skilled air crew and ground personnel were either executed or had fled the country and there was no endorsement or support from Grumman Inc. When it came to spare parts or repairs and maintenance there was not much to rely on. On top of that some essential equipment of the Tomcats were also sabotaged... Basically operating an advanced interceptor such as F-14 Tomcat at that time in Iran was nothing short of a miracle. Americans were pretty shocked too by what those Iranian pilots did during those eight long years of war in the air...
Thank you for introducing this legend and war hero. I suggest you repeat this for Mahmoud Eskandari, F4 single fighter. Like Jalil, he went to prison despite his pivotal role in the war. It is strange that he was killed in a car accident like a living person. Basically, despite the need for pilots, the regime of mullahs had a grudge against them and considered them loyal to the king. Iranian pilots had reached a high level of skill and skill in flying due to high training, continuous flights and shooting competitions in the kingdom's regime.
To be honest, as an Iranian, I had never heard of the man, but after a little research, I now understand what type of hero he was. A genuine master of the skies
