Bought this radio and love it. I can actually listen to shortwave now and enjoy it. Worth my money
I received it today and from what I've been testing, this really is a nice radio. Very good sound (but not as good as the retekess v115, the best sounding pocket radio ever !), Good sensitivity, ease of use, enough memories, air band, LW support, and tuning is not as bad as on the d-808. Overall, a good buy !
I just purchased the R-108 by Sihuadon which is the same radio as the Radiwow! The sound quality is what sold me on this radio!
It is amazing for such a small radio.
The R-108 is indeed a great radio. I have only two complaints. 1. the battery discharges if you don't use the radio often. 2. There is no record out. Otherwise, it is a joy to have.
Got my RADIWOW R-108! Love this radio. As you've reported - the sound is great. I've got BL-5C's out the yin yang - well, not that many, but I'm flush. Was surfing the sw band and got some air traffic off MCCARRAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
Sorry Todd, I got the radio working. I had to remove the battery for about 5 minutes and it works great now. Thanks as always
received it today! its looks beautiful and high end + sound is superb and reception is best of the 3 radios I have..thanks for you review that i chose this!
Awesome, this is a great, compact, take anywhere multi band radio. Glad I could help!
@@todderbert love your channel man. Keep up the good work. Just watching you channel has made me research on the building my own radio. Will send it you for review 😊😂
I want to thank you for this very good review, and for that matter, all of your other reviews. I have now subscribed to your channel. Based on another review, I placed a bid on a C Crane Skywave radio, and fortunately for me, didn't win the radio. Then I saw this review for the Radiwow R-108, and ordered it from Amazon. The price was right, and the radio arrived today. I can't tell you how pleased I am with this unit. It is so compact, and feels really well constructed. The tone is wonderful and with the external antenna plugged in, I can clearly listen to ATC at Victoria (BC) airport, which is quite a handful of miles from the house. There are many other features which I have not got to yet, but surely will in time. Thank you again. Your work here is greatly appreciated.
You're Welcome twocvsix. Thank you for subscribing and spending the time to write your experience with this radio. I hope it brings you years of entertainment.
@@todderbert Thank you for getting back to me. Yes, I am sure I will get lots of enjoyment from this radio. Keep up the good work!!
These reviews are great I thought I was the only one who is kind of into radios.
Just WOW !!! I put it in my wishlist now. Thanks for your great unboxing and review, sir.
Great video review! I received my R-108 a few days ago and I'm loving it so far! Thanks for showing the feature for the "0" key, I hadn't discovered that!
Your Welcome Dale, I found that Zero button feature by accident. You think they would have labeled it.
Todderbert, I didn't purchase the Radiwow R-108 instead I picked up the Radiwow SIHUADON R-108 and I love it! SIHUADON is Radiwow's newest trademark so to speak with both the R-108 & D-808 are black in color! The SIHUADON D-808 is the exact same radio except for color and light display as the XHDATA D-808! Comments? Thanks & 73s...
I picked up the Sihaudon R-108 and it is stamped RADIWOW in the battery compartment. They fixed the MW bug which is nice. Expect a future review down the line.
I just got mines but the Sihuadon version. great little radio. I'll have to take it out as I don't get the best reception at home. I should invest in an external antenna. I learned a few tips from your video.
I got this radio and love it I listen to this one more then my other radio's
Excellent review as usual Pete and thanks for the data about the chip. I agree with your opinion about the battery. Have a nice weekend!
Thank you Marcos. This is a great entry level radio to give to someone getting into listening to the various bands.
Thanks for posting the 15% discount link for this radio. Received it today and it is very impressive. Has great sound on AM MW, which is my band of choice. Again, thanks!
awesome, glad you are enjoying it!
I love my R-108. It's the cheapest radio I have with air band and it does it nicely. It's a well-balanced radio with SW reception on-par with the more expensive D-808, without the SSB. The controls are well-thought and intuitive. Still a bargain today IMO.
I agree, use mine everyday on my walks.
I just ordered one of these.
I'm working from home during the Coronavirus pandemic, and sometimes the isolation gets to me a bit.
Having the radio on, even if I'm not really listening seems to help some.
But, my radio doesn't get really good reception, and it's just AM/FM (even though it is supposed to be SW too). It's just something the previous homeowner left in the basement... okay for music in the workshop, but I'd like more variety.
Being an airplane lover (&aerospace engineer) the air band sold me on this vs. Tecsun Pl-310et (also the sound quality in reviews).
I'll have a lot to learn about external antennas though.
Simple, with this radio get yourself a Tecsun wire antenna from Amazon and string it up outside. My wire will pass through the jam of my sliding door without hurting it, at Amazon: amzn.to/34b2F2H It will improve your Shortwave and FM greatly.
@@todderbert Do you reel out a length specific to the wavelength you're trying to receive?
Also, do you calculate the length of wire inside the house as part of that equation?
I already started to solder up a wire with alligator clips (15 ft, IIRC). One alligator clip to put on a whip antenna and one for hanging the other end to a lamp above the dining table.
I'm working from home, and using an old radio (Sanyo M7110K) that is supposed to have SW. I started the wire antenna before I ordered the Radiwow R-108. I'll buy one with the plug ASAP. Someone recommended Sangean ANT-60 shortwave antenna on Amazon - I'd imagine they're similar). I mainly need some sound other than silence when I'm in isolation all day. Walking at lunch and in the evenings is what keeps me sane, but I'm stuck at home while I work. At least I have a job, eh.
It's supposed to arrive any minute (Between 1 and 4 hours from now, according to my tracking info)
I guess I won't be going out Pokéwalking tomight!)
@@Fly4aWhiteGuy You should be fine with 22 feet. The more wire the better, but really long wires can bring in a lot of gain.
It bears a very strong resemblance to the XHDATA 808, but without SSB.
One day I will purchase an 808, but it has to be a US seller at a reasonable price. Got burned by a Chinese seller trying to get one when they first came out.
I already ordered one. And waiting for hands on this Radio...wow..Looks Cool.
It is, you will enjoy this one.
So, I've heard that V2 of this radio (different font bottom left side "500 Memories Preset") has fixed the top side of the MW sensitivity (?) issue
Would have been nice to have a dual battery situation (AA and lithium ion). I’ve seen some products that have AA contacts in the same compartment as the lithium battery.
Do you think my Tram 1411 scanner / transmit antenna would work ?, it's mounted between 30 and 40 feet above ground , it's on my roof mounted to a 10 foot pole on my chimney , specs are 25mhz to 1300mhz for receiving
Hi Todderbert, thank you for this video. I have one of these and have been comparing it against the PL310 and D808. It's certainly better than the 310. I have always had trouble with its (the 310s ) harsh audio and rough AGC. As for comparison with the D808; it's almost as good. The D808 is slightly better as it has slightly stronger reception. However, this could just be due to its longer telescopic aerial and larger speaker. However, there is't all that much between the two, if you don't use ssb. It also seems to come on quicker and is more responsive than the D808. Better processor?
Something that I really appreciate with the R108 is its rejection of MW breakthrough and images on SW. Some of my smaller DSP powered portables were really troubled with this. For example, the V-115, DE29, PL310T and to a lesser extent the PL380.
I wonder what DSP chip they are using, 4735? I have posted a few videos of reception of Reach Beyond Australia and it really pulls in dx. On MW, 1377khz, I was able to receive TWR Armenia, roughly 3.500 miles away from me in Dundee, Scotland. Mind you, they are running 1000kw! I have noticed on MW , during the day, a low ticking noise in parts of the MW. Has anyone else heard this? Otherwise, this is a really great little radio which will compete with the D808 when I go on my travels. 73s
I get the little ticking sound really low on the MW band.. not an issue for me. As it disappears when I move up the dial. I have picked up BSKSA at a distance of 7,000 miles.
The chip is a 4734. See pinned comment for picture.
@@todderbert, Thank yo for your kind reply. Was the BSKSA reception on MW?
@@jimgordon1563 SW.
@@todderbert The reason I asked is that way back in the day, I used to hear them on 1440khz mw underneath the 1400kw of the English service of Radio Luxembourg! They too were running really powerful txs. 73s
I am definitely going to buy this radio sounds neat
Rádio Radiwow R-108 é o mesmo Sihuadon R-108por dentro so mudando a nomeclatura e a carcaça por fora?
Is there any real difference in performance between this and the xhdata 808? I want to one of those. Thanks
MW is better on the D-808, and of course you have SSB, and 18650 battery power.
Trying to get a portable radio initially to use for my elderly mother who needs a radio on at night (listens to UK Radio4). To use on a UK staycation cruise in September.
Been looking at your reviews and very confused. Assuming want SW in case hard to get any other stations. Like this one as has LW which I think UK BBC Radio4 still use.
Looking at TECSUN ICR-110 (has MP3) £28.98; XHDATA D-328 (has MP3 which I could play recorded podcasts from the station if stuck) £19.98; Retekess TR605 £19.99; this one SIHUADON R108 reduced to £29.28 (with LW)
HELP...
Thank you good sir! Just bought this bad boy!
Why use ccrane FM transmitter to scan FM instead of built in scan? And why use your external wire antenna instead of included one? Love all your videos, Thanks much,
I love this little radio . Great Series on this Radiwow Todderbert , Thank you ....👍👍
Your Welcome Steven. I should have some band scan videos up in the next week or so.
@@todderbert Awsome , Thank you 👍👍
Just subscribed, congrats on your thorough reviews! I'm considering the purchase of a small shortwave radio, and have narrowed down the choices to these three as they have the same price now: Radiwow r-108, Tecsun pl-310et and Tecsun pl-380. Soft-muting really discourages me though, so I was wondering which of the three has the least noticeable muting while scanning through stations.
They are all fairly similar. Maybe look into a PL-450, it is older but has no mute on tuning.
The problem with this radio is that it's quite deaf in LW (exactly like the PL-380) and would probably require the same mod (better, bigger ferrite antenna rod and with a bigger inductance).
Otherwise it's very nice : good sound, good selectivity and sensitivity in most bands.
The xh-data d808 is better in LW.
However if I had to choose between the r108 and the modded pl380 I'd go for the pl380 because it's faster to operate (sound is not so good, and air band is not supported but I don't care about it)
I bought the radio and it works good in AM, FM and Air but I cannot get any short wave. I live in Orange County, CA and have an amplified Terk antenna plugged into my 3.5 mm jack and one of those reel type antennas clipped to the radio antenna. That antenna is an XHdata - AN-80. Can you give any advice on listening to SW? When listening I am indoors.
Just ordered one. Nice review.
Thanks John, it is a fun radio to own.
@@todderbert Thank You Todd
Can you pick up local repeaters with this radio
I noticed some slight changes with my actual Sihuadon, 5w output and 128x75.5x31mm, thus is USB C connection
I can't get my radio to switch to 64MHz to 86 MHz. Could it be locked? I bought it in Germany on Amazon.
That Radiwow's on 🔥
That is magical fire my friend, magical. :)

Sounds great, what compares to it for price?
Review - 4.5 stars Todd. Some of the Ads and Boxes for radios only get 1 Star.. but funny.. ☺

Hey Todd, mine just came yesterday. It worked great earlier today but, now when I take the charging cable out and turn on the radio, I get a flash of light and it goes off and will not come back on unless I replug it in. Any suggestions? The battery has 3 lines in it and looks full.
I am getting very frustrated Help! Thanks Todd
May I ask if the sensitivity and selectivity of this radio is better than XHDATA D-808 or Digitech AR1780?
The very sensitive Air band on this radio is worth the price alone IMO
Good review and demo! Thank you.
You're Welcome. A little powerhouse of a radio. The cost is good.
Should I buy Radiwow R-108 or tecsun pl 330 any recommendations
Tecsun PL-330, unless you need to have the AIR Band, and do not need SSB.
@@todderbert thank you for your recommendation.i highly appreciate 🙏
Fan of your work from uzbikstan
Is this better than the Tecsun Pl-310ET ? Please help I don't know which one to buy!!!!
I recommend the Tecsun 310ET to a beginner. The bonus of the 310ET is the normal AA batteries it uses. It has ETM, which doubles the amount of presets you have, and is very handy if you travel. If you have to have an AIR band, the R-108 is great, plus it has a better sounding speaker on the low end. I prefer the brighter audio of the 310ET myself. The R-108 uses the BL-5C battery...some love em some hate em. They tend not to last as long as a nice set of AA rechargeables will.
Holy radio silence Batman, the Bat Radio isn't working! Robin, quick grab a RadiWow R-108 so we can receive Gotham City!
"RADIPoW!" :)
Yeah ❗️ i want one ‼️
Right now I’m debating:
The XHDATA D-808,
Radiwow R-108.
Hard decision.
📻🙂
This is a very compact radio. Love the form factor. I tend to choose the smaller radios now versus the larger ones when I go out.
todderbert
I’m wondering just how much better the XHData is on MW, compared to this Radiwow. True , the XHData has SSB, but I already have a PL-660.
So for me, it comes down to the MW.
@@jeffking4176 I never had the experience to try the 808 so my opinion is mute. The RADIWOW is average to below average on MW during the daytime, but in the evening it is average. Comparing it to my 310ET and Skywaves. The audio is what makes this radio shine. I love the MW band with this speaker. Very easy to listen too, for a compact size.
todderbert
Thanks 🙏
@@jeffking4176 the Xhadata managed to pull a whole bunch of U.S. MW stations when I stayed in Tenerife (one of the Canary Islands) a few weeks ago during darkness on both sides of the Atlantic. Pity the R-108 is missing RDS though. Otherwise the D-808 isn't bad for groundwaves but the small form factor gives that away as with the R-108.
Can you plug one of those loop antennas into the antenna jack to improve daytime AM reception?
Probably buying this radio today. Always great vids! Sub'd
Hello, how to cancel alarm time and sleep . It starts alarm auto i need to cancel or delete previously set.
tap alarm button while the radio is off to toggle from wake to radio, wake to buzzer, then off. Sleep is simple, Hold down the power button till you see the Sleep icon flashing, then quickly use the tuning knob to set it to "on".
It's an inherent characteristic of the medium MW (AM) band that reception of distant stations is always better at night on ANY radio. Try it after dark and you'll see! The fact that you were hearing relatively distant stations even in daytime indicates that this little radio is a indeed a hot performer - and at a very attractive price. Otherwise a good review - thank you!
The MW falls a bit short during the day, I will publish a video of a daytime band scan with this radio compared to the similar sized CC Skywave. You will hear the CC Skywave has the superior daytime MW reception, it may not sound as good as the R-108 though.
Hi, I live in Saudi Arabia , will this radio helps me getting the radio stations in excellent condition? I appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.
Hi... I assume when you turn the radio for mw reception. The top of the radio is actually pointed towards the transmitting station???
Or if stood up its the back facing the transmitter as well???
Please let me know... Thank you...
The ferrite rod antenna is parallel to the radio body usually.
So, it doesn't matter front or back, you can even lay it flat.
Just don't point the sides of the radio towards station, because that's counterproductive.
Just think of radio like a cylinder.
Can you recommend a good case that fits the Radiwow R-108 nicely. I bought one off eBay but turned out to be too small. Want a hard case if can get one.
I am using a new old stock Canon camera case and it fits very well. You can try looking at various camera cases. Mine isn't with very thick padding like some other cases I own. But otherwise it's good
I just got this and am tempted to send back and get s bigger better bandwidth??? Brand name??. I'm gonna do a an antenna improvement before mis- judging this radio .
Thank you ! Love this radio !
Your Welcome. Just filmed a daytime MW scan, and it did fairly well on the strong to semi distant stations.. the fringe stations it had trouble with. The Skywave was a bit better on getting those stations...but the audio on the RADIWOW is great on MW. No ear fatigue whatsoever.
18:30 how is that thing that you put on the antenna called? is it better than external antenna jack

radiwow or tecsun pl360 ?? What is the best??? I do not understand English very well, so I'd rather ask for hugs from Brazil 73s
hmmm this or the Tecsun PL-380. Which one would you suggest is the better of the two? I'm a complete newbie and looking to buy either one.
Peace
If you don't need the AIR band the 380 is nice, but the audio is much better on the RADIWOW. With that said, look at the Tecsun 310ET as an option. The 310 has better audio then the 380, and the same reception. The plus for the RADIWOW is you don't need to buy batteries right away since it comes with a BL-5C styled one. The other radios do operate on standard AAs. I like the RADIWOW for a first time buyer when it sells for $40 on sale. Otherwise I'm partial to the Tecsun 310ET.
What is the difference between this radio and the xhdata D-808?
The Sihuadon R-108 is the re-badged Radiwow... at half the price! Should I trust it?
Yes, because it is made by Radiwow.
Hello, what is minimal frequency step on AIR band ? 5kHz or 25kHz ? Thanks
Fine Tuning down to 1kHz: th-cam.com/video/FL9vU4VBuo4/w-d-xo.html
Will this receiver pick up CB radio as well as a CB radio? I know it covers the CB radio frequencies.
I don't listen to it much but it can pick up the normal channels.
How’s the Air Band on this
?
Only down side I see is it’s a 24hr clock not 12 hours
What's your best recommendation for a Medium Wave radio?
For Daytime MW, I love the CC Radio 2E/3 model. For evenings, I like my GE Superadios, CC Radio EP-Pro and the original CC Radio.
Sounds good! Thank you. Is it possible to scan preset stations only?
Yes, in VM mode press and hold a tuning button then let go and it will go into a browse mode of the presets, you can stop it on the station you want by tapping the button again.
@@todderbert Perfect. Thank you.
It says It can receive ham radio but there's no SSB, can I still receive ham signals from emergency services, shipping , CBS ect?
If they are transmitting on full AM then you will hear HAM activity. SSB is great because you can send a signal farther with less power, and at the same time using less bandwidth. If you need that, check out Tecsun PL-330 th-cam.com/video/_zPWhwpx6Gs/w-d-xo.html
Received mine today. A bit of a mixed bag. Horrible on headphones. Distracting and annoying popping sounds when moving bands or running a scan. Have you noticed this? Great review. I love your channel.
When I used the headphones I tested it mainly on FM for the stereo, which was great. Later I tested the MW band and worked well. Others have commented that their's has a popping sound when changing bands. Mine doesn't seem to be as pronounced.
@@todderbert Interesting. It really feels like a work in progress to me and not quite ready. I find lots of other irritations as well. Switching between bands is slow. There's a second delay when switching and it doesn't recognise multiple presses. You have to wait for it to switch before pressing again. Direct frequency input is too convoluted. I don't know what they were thinking. I haven't really tested the performance yet as I've found it hard to get by all the frustrating niggles. It may well go back.
Some more musings! Compared to my PL-310ET. Audio quality out of the headphones is very congested. Lack of soundstage and little separation between instruments. It's pleasant though. Nice tone. 310ET is much better here, bigger soundstage, more involving. The R108 is nice from the speaker. It has the same congested sound though. 310ET from the speaker is leaner but that bigger soundstage is still there. Manual tuning in SW/MW/LW on the R108 is frustrating. Very heavy muting between frequency changes which it makes it difficult to hear if you've found anything. The 310ET is much faster in this regard with less muting. Is it just me seeing all these little niggles? Maybe it just doesn't bother some people. All I've seen are glowing reviews about the R108 so I was surprised by my findings. I guess people use radios in different ways too. I'm not knocking your review at all We can only comment on what we find!
I only use the manual tuning to get on frequency. I normally use the numeric keypad. I've noticed that the scanning speed on my RADIWOW to be superior to the Tecsuns, but not the Skywave. I enjoy the room filling audio, and the not so shrill sound this speaker provides on MW & SW. Everyone is going to have their preferences, and honestly after using all my Tecsusn, RADIWOW and Skywave, I prefer the Skywave for headphone quality and scanning speeds. Plus it uses standard batteries.
I'm finding the ATS superb. It consistently digs out weak stations for me. This morning here in the UK I ran a scan and it found several pirate stations around 6000khz. All stations my PL-310ET skipped over with its scan. Even if I was manual tuning I may well have missed them. Very impressive. I took a few videos. I'll see if I can upload them.
Did I see a Temperature reading on the upright corner ?
Yes you did, just like a Tecsun display.
Does it come with the battery?
Yes it does.
Thanks!
Awesome, always appreciate the kind words, and support!
Is the black version under the SIHUADON R-108 nameplate the same radio? I picked it up today on Amazon for $41.
Same radio.
Todderber, I have the sihuadon version and when I connect to the power to recharge the little battery icon doesn't fill up but it get just 2 little squares, about half full. Is this normal? is there a special instruction to recharge it inside the radio?
the battery meter hasn't been the best in these. Just check your usb power block and feel if it is warm...if it is cold the radio is done charging.
Thank you for the review. I'm on the fence. The FM, SW & Air Band seem great, but the daytime AM performance concerns me. Even their ATS function on SW isn't at the level of Tecsun's ETM as shown by Two Hands and a Radio. Despite those flaws, I wouldn't rule out buying this radio.
Thank you TVRadio. I use the browse feature and find a lot, plus you can re browse and find more and keep adding stations, instead of overwriting the existing ones using the ATS. I don't like ATS for SW on any of my radios. Too much signal fading for it to be very effective.
@Two Hands and a Radio Great Idea, I will add it to my Shortwave Sessions Playlist and show a behind the scenes tuning experience with Todderbert.
Dear todderbert, I had 2 XHDATA D-808 and I´m disappointed by some thing which lead me to search for another radio. At first: I´m disapointed by the FM because of the lots of noise with stereo. I wanted to use it also as an every day stereo radio but the noise disturbs me. And when I hear it over earphones and turn the volume wheel the volume changes its strenght during turning the wheel from one side to another. And when the wheel stands still the difference in volume between left and right remains. This is a no go for me. Also the maximum volume with the speakers is not sufficient for weak stations. These things are on both radios, so I think it is by design. My 5 years old Sony Xperia Smartphone has a much better FM stereo reception without any noise and with perfect sound. Beisde the absence of SSB: would you think that the other capabilities are similar to the Radiowow, for example if you use a good antenna?
for headphone use, I find myself using the CC Skywave more than these others. My D-808 is amazing on FM, and keeps up with my more selective Sangean radios. Too be honest some of the best sounding FM stereo I have heard are from older classic radios that support it. they have a nice wide sample so you get a nice, full stereo effect.
@@todderbert Thank you very much indeed. This morning I realized that it was my fault. I used my noise canceling headphones from Sony wich of course have other plugs than the normal ones. Somehow it not only had influence to the volume but also to the noise of the FM reception. Sorry for that. Now I have clear FM and sufficient volume with other headphones.
Do you think guys, is this made by Tecsun?
QUESTION: How do I punch in a 3 digit shortwave frequency? For instance on shortwave schedule there is this.. 693 BBC Radio 5 Live English. Thank you!
if it is shortwave then 6930 is entered on the Shortwave band. If it is MW, enter 693 on the MW band..pressing the frequency key first of course ;)
@@todderbert Thank you! That helps a lot.
Nice sound for a portable receiver... Does the display can be continuous swiched on ?
The display is always active, if you mean the light no, you can only have it momentary on this model. The bigger brother D-808 let's you run the light continuously.
@@todderbert i didn't it has a big brother lol
@@aureliusprimus yep, the XHData D-808 is made by the same company as the RADIWOW R-108.
@@todderbert thanks. Does D 808 has ssb with so nice sound than r808 ?
the 808 lacks the bass of the 108, but has great mids and highs for voice. If you like music, get the 108, if you like SW and MW then the 808 is going to sound much better. That is my personal opinion.
So I Googled "ATS" to find out what the hell he's talking about. American Thoracic Society. Applied Technology Services. Applicant Tracking System. I have no idea.
For some reason I could have sworn CJBC was in Chicoutimi, I used to get it very clear in Pennsylvania at night on 860. The Toronto station was at 690 and considerably weaker. I can't find any verification of that on the Googles. How would I have come up with Chicoutimi?
ATS: Auto Tuning System.
"CJBC is a Canadian Class A clear-channel station, which broadcasts at 860 AM in Toronto, Ontario. It is the city's affiliate of the Ici Radio-Canada Première network. CJBC's studios are located at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre, while its transmitter is located in Hornby"
@@todderbert Yes yes I read all that. What I can't figure out is why I distinctly remember -- this would be about 30 to 40 years ago --- monitoring a station from Chicoutimi on 860 with a strong signal each night, yet there seems to be no record of it. I'm positive about this, because I would sometimes leave the radio on and be startled awake by a local daytimer the next morning, which was also at 860. I didn't just make up the call "CJBC" or the name of the town "Chicoutimi" out of thin air. There's no other way I would have known about either.
I also recall that their IDs would mention some other locality, one of which was Waterloo, which is some distance south. And just before signoff they would run a short segment called "Pensées de la Nuit". The other weaker station now that I think of it, was 690 in Montréal, not Toronto.
What is DSP? Never own any DSP radio myself so idk. Is Radiwow R-108 good for SW DXing?
DSP=Digital Signal Processor. Great for Selectivity. You can DX SW when conditions are good and you have a 22' wire attached to the external antenna jack. The wire being strung to an outside location is ideal.
How does this radio compare to the XHDATA D-808?
The D-808 is the better tuner. Much more sensitive and has SSB so you can tune USB/LSB on Shortwave. It runs on an 18650 as well, much better than the BL-5C in my opinion. Speaker audio is brighter on the 808. The 108 has some nice low tones though. If you are just getting started and want something inexpensive the 108 is a decent choice. There are a ton of happy 108 owners out there :)
Just received this radio today and noticed the speaker is now 5W instead of 3W.
Do you know how to remedy this problem? My usb power supply when plugged into my radio for power completely stops my radio from picking up stations on MW. If I unplug the usb power cord from the radio, and just use the internal battery for power, I pick up stations without interference. Is there a fix for that and what specifically would that be?
Find a linear power supply. I use one from my CC Skywave with a Mini to Micro USB adapter.
Less noise when removing the battery and using the CC Skywave AC adapter to power the radio. Listening to it right now and it is perfect :) imgur.com/lCg63ww
Everything is good except the battery. If they used a 18650 battery then we had the option to change it more easily when the battery needed to be replaced but a good BL-4C or 5C is extremely hard to find now these days...
I am with you on the 18650, that would be wonderful...they were going for a compact theme here, and should have went two AA instead.
@@todderbert Thanks for the reply...
Just remember, this is NOT a SSB radio! So you you don't need SSB this is a great almost 1-1 clone of the Sky wave..Well, it was cloned off the Sky wave but that's a whole other story and it's C Crane's fault. But anyway, it's a really good radio!
I got TV audio Channel 4 in Atlanta, GA on 71.75 MHz Russian FM band. Its in spanish
Brian. you are the Super Tuner! Thanks for watching.
Long wave died in UK about 5 years ago, shame! There was one great station left and someone bought it just so they could shut it down
Hello! Can you please tell me exactly where in this video you show how to set presets and then select them again easily? I canNOT figure it out!
I'm not sure if I covered here, but this other video of mine may help some: th-cam.com/video/8XcWO3F5fe0/w-d-xo.html
I have a Radiwow R-108 and I like it very much. I do notice some issues with the AM. If I go to AM from another band, the AM sensitivity is decreased. When I turned off the radio and turn it back on, the AM sensitivity is improved. It’s apparent by seeing the difference in the dbu levels. Also, I hear a clicking sound on weak or blank AM frequencies especially at the lower end of the band when the display is set to the dbu dB S/N mode. When I change the display to another mode like the time or temperature, the clicking sound goes away. Todd, does your R-108 have the same issues with AM?
yes, on the low end of the MW band. does not bother me, seems fairly minor. I have a daytime MW band scan video coming out soon. I compare this radio to the CC Skywave on MW.
ALWAYS GOOD VIDS!! I know I comment a lot, but, People are missing out on a lot- Radio is and will be an interesting form of fun!!! Like other stuff, It's not just dumped in your lap- You have to Finnesse it??????-----‐- Anyway, I'm thinking a loaded , I wonto't say whip, but, a coil around an antenna---I KNOW ! Back in C.B. DAYS, A trick was to wind 50 foot of wire, around the vertical of the ground Plaine antenna-‐ Old time tricks. To boost gaine--- We would get. 3-5 extra dB gain by this method------ I still say get these radios while you can- very soon, they will become harder to come by- AGAIN, Aquire some 1n34a diodes- Always good to have, hard enough to get now-
