Wow- I had no idea after all these years that part of that drone starting at 1:25 was Squire. That fuzzy growling. I always thought it was just Kaye's Hammond organ. How awesome to hear this.
Me too. I thought it was that scratchy Hammond sound turned up to 11! Actually burst out laughing when it appeared on this and realised it was the baddest bass of all time. I love these isolated tracks, its like hearing the songs for the first time again
As much as I enjoy Geddy the tone of an original 60s horseshoe and toaster pickups squire used just can’t be beat. I absolutely love that special grit and grouchyness those old horseshoe pickups put out. I’ve played all kinds of expensive, boutique and vintage basses over the years. But my beat to hell 72 4001 I restored with an original horseshoe and toaster pickup completely with original 60s Rick wiring pots, caps etc just can’t be beat in my mind. Definitely some special mojo in those horseshoe magnets. Nothing else sounds like that.
I love how it's not perfect- he's always taking chances - misses a few notes here and there but is always playing with such fearlessness on each and every recording I've heard. Really cool to hear how much groove Bruford provides- nothing ever simple but not indulgent- Perfect rhythm section..Where are they now when you need them..??
I adore Yes group. Especially their albums "Tales from Topographyc Oceans" and "Going for the One". And I like Rick Wakeman, so too. From Russia with love. Michael.
Squires timing is spot on... Panning the bass to the left and then right at the end of the song is a bit odd but this record was produced durig the native years of stereo and one enjoyed playing with stereo fx (that can be heard in other parts of the song). In the Steven Wilson remaster of YIND the bass stays centered att the end.
Entwistle's influence on Chris is here clearer than ever. Those triplets, that swinging, singing, ringing groove is a tune of its own. Love it.
was thinking of the same thing!!!
Absolutely, it sounds uncannily like several of Entwistle's lines on Live at Leeds. Two of the best.

I think it is some type of fuzz/distortion pedal that Chris used.
Maestro Brassmaster pedal
I thought the same!
the beauty of isolated tracks

Love how Chris and Geddy always had the fret buzz going on ....."low action" . That is classic Rickenbacker Bass sound.
It's the "round wound" strings with low action with overdrive.
One of Geddy's biggest inspirations is Chris
They're both my biggest inspirations
Best basses ever. Mr. Squire got me hooked on 'em...
Brad Beck And that unmistakable Rickenbacker clank.

Squire and Bruford... It never got better than that for Yes... or any one else!!¡

Aye, at times he shows a certain...uh...carefree sloppiness. With attitude. Absolutely nails it.
Lovely - Squire's line is like a 9 minute solo. Thanks for the upload!!
One of the albums that drove me to buy a bass guitar. I've had it slung on my body for 40 years now. That sound ripped my 15 year old head off 🤯✌

I agree . ✌️&♥️ from USA
8:55 Every band member should have furry boots.
These two isolated vids are excellent.
Squire and Brufford, OH MY GOD 🙏🏻
These two make great jazz!
Wow, what a sound. It's so sad that Chris does noet live anymore....
Oh, he does!
Learned to play along to this by ear. Turns out I still have a lot to learn! Thanks for the vid.
Incredible. In the opening section, the 'guitar' tone is the bass! I never knew that.
Only Chris could lay down a bassline that always could be found no matter what the other musicians were doing!
I have ALWAYS loved the sound of Chris Squier's bass in these albums!!!!
I always loved the warm fingerstyle flatwound string sound ( still do) then heard this LP and blew my head off. Never looked back....
He used pick
Yeah Squire never played fingerstyle, he always used a pick
@@jenniferreiser7226 Þat was þe point of þeir comment, contrasting what þey liked before wiþ þe playing on þis album
@@sorcyboi2848woah, you’re using thorn for your “th” sounds. That’s sick
Love those thumb artificial harmonic misses.
Awesome, Awesome and Awesome..😊😉🙃😄😁😆💥💫👍
Wow that was amazing! Thanks for sharing
Could You please make "The Gates of Delirium"?
Sounds utterly incredible on a decent system! Almost rather listen to this than the full band version. Yikes!

Fabulous!
Love Chris bass on the early Yes album's
What a team.?
Era un señor bajista asi hay que hacer sonar un bajo
Awesome! Thanks for this!!
You can really hear the Larry Graham influence on Squire
He said that Larry Graham was one of his favorite bass players.
Very Grooooveeeyyyyy. !!!!!! Would love to hear isolated guitar, and also isolated keyboards.

Surely Jack Bruce must. have taken notice of Chris Squire's Bass Lead here.
2:54!!
how come guys in their 20s can't play like this anymore?
Well, to be fair, it is hard to twerk to...
All the more impressive considering they were all young lil 20 something’s making/playing these incredible compositions…
La base!!!
Love the pinch of the Eight Days A Week Bass line in the break.
CRIS THE BEST
Someone give mr bruford a can of wd40!!!
