They Dycks are a good solid family with firm values and an appreciation for missionary...work .

Honestly it's pretty accurate tho. Really orthodox extremists like this can be pretty flustered when someone says something they're not used to, like "I have sex" or "beer tastes good" or "I like dancing". They're big on putting massive amounts of shame on totally normal things. And because normal stuff is too taboo to talk about for them, often slang goes over their head. The dick/chastity parts are pretty exaggerated tho.
I know that's tangential, just wanted to point out how seriously unhealthy this form of religious extremism is IRL - even in less extreme forms. Don't let your kids get dragged into it

Although, giving up on being part of 'normal' society, where some very, very disgusting stuff has been normalized, doesn't sound as crazy as I thought it would at first.
I kinda understand why people go 'off the grid.' Modern society is awfully stupid.
A simple, humble lifestyle certainly has it's appeal.
That being said, I've never even heard of an Amish person doing anything 'extreme,' in the way that, say, a Sharia Muslim might.
They're not known for strapping a hundred pounds of explosives to their bodies and detonating themselves in a crowd.
Heck, they don't even need to be Sharia Muslims - seemingly 'normal' Shiite and Sunni Muslims murder each other to the tune of a thousand unalive bodies each month in the various Middle Eastern countries.
They've been doing it since Mohammad died. There was a bit of a schism, you see.
But it's not worth discussing here.
Nevertheless, if one of my kids decided to 'Go Amish,' I'd chuckle on the inside but support them.
If any of my kids converted to Islam, I'd put them on a government watch list myself. It's the only religion that endorses violence against non believers.
You'll never see the Amish waving flags around shouting 'Death to America!'

This is one of the most underappreciated shows ever. Especially as a way to wind down in the evening!
For anyone saying the show doesn't know the difference between Amish and Mennonite, they quite literally make the distinction between the two the first time these characters are introduced. I think it's just implied the Dyck's prefer a simpler lifestyle without technology, as opposed to their religious practice forbidding it, or perhaps they're part of an Old Order community where technology usage is still shunned.
Mennonites are the most diverse of the anabaptist groups; they can be indistinguishable from modern liberal Christians to nearly identical to the Amish.

Technology adoption varies by parish, some elders being stricter in their interpretations than others.

GOOD GOD, I LOVE THIS DAGGUM SHOW! Hell, I've recently started rewatching the show for a second time... 😂 great comedy, and perfect level toned wild assed one liner timing. Haven't seen Letterkenny before? Heavily recommend the watch. Can't get enough of them.

The people they've got playing the Dycks are amazing, they are so hilarious. The best part is their facial expressions because the whole time Noah looks like he has no idea what the things he's saying sound like, it completely goes over his head. Whereas Anita's face says that she hears it, she just refuses to acknowledge it.

Saying "once" at the end of the sentence is pretty funny. I'm glad that they included that. I work with a guy who used to be a Mennonite, and he used to finish his sentences with "once". Lol I have no clue what the hell it means, but it seemed like he would say it any time he asked a question or made a request. It would be like.."Hey, did anyone see they see that the vending machine is out of order once?" Or, "Can you come help me with this once?" Or, "What time does the meeting start once?" It's really strange, and kind of funny, and every now and then me and some of the other guys at work will catch ourselves Saying it lol.

Question to fans of the show: Katy has had multiple times where she's been having casual relations with multiple people at once, it's often it's implied she's having threesomes, she's also seemingly completely unemployed and quite lazy, there's only one or two episodes where she actually engages in any farm work and it's always part of a montage with others involved; are the Dycks not aware of her obvious unrepentant sinner traits or are they showing forgiveness in how they regard her? Because the Dycks can be quite judgemental about other people and their sins on other occasions.
Wayne, Dary and Dan are shown as farmers that take smoke breaks for dialogue and refer to doing work while resting by the produce cart but they often leave Wayne's farm to help others including the Dycks. All most people in Letterkenny would see Katy doing is sunbathing next to the cart, drinking at MoDeans and hanging around various men.
It’s not that deep bro lol, it’s a low budget skit show designed to appeal to people with a certain sense of humour, it’s not for everyone but it’s not the Sopranos or something. Wayne also had 2 sisters at one point that fused into Katy in the first place so I’d think that would be a bigger issue than where she works or at least tell you what you need to know about the show
