If we are heaven, then Gaster is the devil. Look at it this way: Toby as the author is the literal god of the game and comes from the same world as the player. He wrote, he made Gaster. Gaster is seemingly self aware and sentient, he can talk to us. And he's connected to devil symbolism. This makes Gaster, as a creation of Toby's, the devil. This makes Toby a god of the Deltarune universe. And it makes the world where he lives, heaven. If we are canon, why not Toby Fox himself? Hm.
Toby is canonically in the game too. His avatar the annoying dog is all over deltarune, usually in the background, sometimes coming around to mess with the player, like the chapter 2 toy car crash scene, and in chapter 1 in the library where we see him creating Deltarune.
Gaster is also technically canon in real life too looking at the posts made on twitter for the release of deltarune that seem to be made by him ("Canon in real life" is such a funny phrase i don't really know how else to word that though lmao)
In mythology, bluebirds are spiritual angels who comfort you at your lowest moments. Kris and Noelle likely drifted apart around the same time that Dess disappeared, so there was only one person there with Noelle. BERDLY. I know I'm grasping at straws here but damnit I want Berdly to matter!
I don't like interpretations that make out our influence on the world to be wrong or "unnatural." Those interpretations are certainly interesting, but I can't see Toby going for that. Obviously Toby doesn't want us to not play his game he's spent many years making, so why would he make us feel bad for playing as Kris? However, what Toby does seem to denounce is obsession with his game. Obsession to the point where you can't move on from the game, where you're willing to do horrible things to this world just in the hopes you'll find more content. That's more likely what "banishing the angel's heaven" means, once the world has been saved from the Roaring in order to truly save it you must put the game down and "let [them] have their happy ending."
Fascinating video! Have you considered taking a crack at the subtle but distinct variations between how the Delta Rune is stylized across its depictions? One thing that stuck out to me years ago is the way that some depictions of the Angel have its wings look closer to realistic bird wings, while other depictions style the wings closer to an arc with intersecting lines along the curve that intersects the circle of the Angel. While there’s something to be said about looking for characters with wings or being referred to as ‘angels,’ I feel you may be interested in possible alternative interpretations of the winged circle design. Although this pulls from Undertale, Gerson’s example, Asgore’s armor, and Lesser Dog’s shield showcase a really stylized variation of the second type of depiction that could be up your alley: Namely, how you could interpret the Angel not as a winged circle, but as a circle with antlers. If you look up pictures of deer with their heads down as if about to use their antlers to attack, eating grass, or etc (particularly from the front), their antlers can wind up looking remarkably like arcs with intersecting lines or points along the curve. Notably, Gyftrot, the only deer monster we see in Undertale and thus presumably connected to Undertale’s version of Rudy and thus possibly Noelle in some fashion, has multiple elements that I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a return in Delta Rune. They not only inspired the Underground’s Christmas-like tradition of setting presents under a tree (Christmas connections). Their unusual head shape not only bears a striking resemblance to the DT Extraction Machine/Omega Flowey by extension. But the positioning of their head and their antlers demonstrate what I refer to about with looking head on at antlered deer with their heads down. (Though I recommend looking up pictures of real deer for clearer similarities to the Delta Rune, not just Gyftrot) So if Noelle’s antlers were to grow out considerably, and if she tilted her head down (in prayer? To attack? Something else?)… Well, it’s still ultimately uncertain whether she is the Angel or not. But it certainly would translate her character design into a convincing candidate without necessarily giving her actual wings as an alternate design choice, you know?
I'm aware of the antler interpretation actually, and mentioned it in my last video on Noelle. You should check it out! The added detail you provided makes it even more interesting though.
Oh huh, I just saw that video, and I was surprised to see that the Reddit post your referenced was based on my theory post I made before Chapter 2 came out. I went into a bit more detail there than my comment here which may interest you, like my thoughts on the evolution of the Delta Rune in Undertale that may be applicable to Deltarune, as well as some speculation on other possible meanings to Noelle’s name that I’ve not seen elsewhere.
Spamton does not seem aware of the player, generally speaking, and the light world is likely the heaven he speaks of. If he were aware of the player, his whole plan of taking Kris' SOUL to break free of the strings is nonsensical, regardless of what theory you ascribe to, he would only become a puppet again. On the "Audience" lines, theres two you left out (or probably forgot about or didn't know about if you got this evidence point from other theorists). "There is no audience" and "Spamton begs the audience to stop taking the furniture out of his room." The second one makes it impossible for it to refer to the playerbase, and the first one just says that the audience doesn't exist. These lines are also references to Mettaton's fight in UT, which makes their lore implications just a little bit questionable. The only characters we can definitely say have meta knowledge with the community's collective understanding of the game is Gaster and the first fallen human in Undertale. His heaven lines have multiple other valid interpretations, and I personally believe the most likely one is that he is referring to the light world: He calls his body "Heavenly" and his body was notably created by a lightner (likely Mettaton's ghost form) imbuing their hopes with the tool swatch represents (a drawing program), giving it immense power. This connects heaven to the lightners, and the light world as a result. The 3rd time he mentions heaven is during the spare cutscene where the entire background changes to a cartoony sunny skydrop with clouds (its also his shop background, which adds to this, as the thing he aspires towards would be something he would surround himself with reminders of). It's a cartoony representation of the sky and sun. The connection to the light world is a bit clear here. He does not mention Heaven once in the Weird route, which is also the route where he wishes to rule over the dark world instead of stealing Kris' SOUL.
I put this in a separate comment because it's unrelated to the spamton stuff, but heres some other less concrete observations I have: I honestly think that the player is just as associated with, if not more so, demons than angels. Gaster (a character heavily linked to the number 6, and who we may have made a deal with by "accept[ing] everything that happens from now on") is the one who called us to Deltarune. The area we get called to is called the depths, which Jevil later associates with Hell. Kris is/was interested in demon summoning classes according to their poppup click flavor text and Queen's mansion room. The dark fountains are themselves described as Holy by King and the soundtrack. The roaring is caused by an imbalance between light and dark in the favor of dark and is associated with Hell by Jevil. The fountains are holy but also the bringer of hell.
The argument that the player is the Angel is really compelling. Especially when you keep in mind that in Undertale, the Angel IS implied to be us. We freed the monsters in the pacifist run-and as some monsters feared-we were the angel that “freed” the monsters in the genocide run. Not Frisk, but the player. After the genocide run, the player sells (now confirmed theirs, not Frisk’s) their soul to Chara, the “demon”. After that, it’s impossible to get the best ending, and everyone dies in the soulless pacifist run. Reminding you that you can’t change fate once everyone’s already destroyed. Crazy implications that I have to think more about to draw a conclusion, but here’s another bonus: If the Angel is us, then Angel’s to Lightners is Lightners to Darkners. Darkners are toys, games, cards… programs? Applications? Viruses? In a computer? And Spamton is the one to call attention to the “ANGEL’S HEAVEN” in his arc? Toby. Fox. There’s no way you didn’t write this on purpose you sly dog
I would say it's a little more than just implied. Despite the widespread belief that Asriel is the angel, Asgore literally confirms that the player is the angel (or at least Frisk or Chara, but the player makes more sense since the monsters in Deltarune seem to worship the angel). It's some dialog in an alternate ending of his fight where you get Flowey to not kill him and he's allowed to talk a bit longer. But then there's the question of why Noelle is referred to as an angel by Spamton. Well simply since the player plays as Noelle, we are Noelle, and thus Noelle is the angel. It's just like how we say that we are a video game's main character and whatever they do we say we did it. Undertale and Deltarune even explicitly play around with this concept, like how if you give yourself and your vessel the same name in the goner maker Gaster says "of course, of course. Of course they are the same." Plus, if you do multiple genocide runs in Undertale Chara will say "we are not the same," as if that's a distinction that needs to be made. We are Chara, but we are not the same as Chara, if that makes sense. This also explains why Flowey calls the player by Chara's name after a true pacifist run.
"However... There is a prophecy. The Angel... The One Who Has Seen The Surface... They will return. And the underground will go empty." I think this confirms the angel in Undertale is Asriel. He is the one who has seen the surface, and in the pacifist ending returns to destroy the barrier. Chara's soul did also leave to see the surface, and since Chara has some relation to the player/Frisk you could argue that we are the angel.
@@OmniversalInsect Frisk has also seen the surface, and you could argue that the player has seen the surface in real life or in the intro cutscene. There's no reason to believe that this has to be referring to Asriel. If Asriel was really the angel, why did it take so long after he came back as Flowey for the barrier to be broken? Plus, that also doesn't account for the genocide interpretation of the prophecy, Flowey helps with genocide some but it would be a stretch to say he's the one causing the Underground to go empty. Plus, that doesn't explain why Spamton calls Noelle the angel in Deltarune (see my reply above for how it makes sense with the player being the angel). Finally, Asgore literally confirms that the player (or at least Frisk or Chara) is the angel. It's an alternate ending to his fight where you either need to complete a neutral run and kill Flowey or spare Flowey and do a pacifist run after. Given how important the angel seems to be it kind of infuriates me that more people don't know about this dialog.
@moppermop5287 But "return" implies they had been to the underground before. Maybe "angel" refers to Chara and Asriel's fused form, since a monster with a human soul is said to have almost godly power. The genocide version of the prophecy probably is referring to Frisk, since they are the one who unleashes destruction. Maybe this is referencing Chara's more hateful side? I don't think everything written in the prophecy is destined to happen, as seen in the neutral endings and ambiguous identity of the angel. (Only referring to undertale here btw). It's just a story made by the monsters to maintain hope in the face of despair. I don't think I've seen that Asgore dialogue before and I couldn't find it. Could you link it?
I have a hypothesis, a theory, I call it the "Theory of the fallen angel" In the letter to the Corinthians, in the New Testament, a sentence is used "Satan disguises himself as an angel of light" Thus with the negative connotations of "Banishing the Angel's Heaven", well, we may be able to grasp a terrifying theory... This is odd, but also fitting, unlike christianity, this religion has no concept of "sin" or "atoning for your sins"... Just to put my own two cents in here, I would say that Kris *also* has several prominent ties and references to Jesus. For example, Jesus is referred to as 100% human and 100% God, Kris is still 100% themselves (their own person) and 100% us (the one we control) A *Balance* if you will. But I think this could change in the future with the snowgrave route, and how if the “us” part continues to grow and overpower Kris, their human side might slowly cease to exist going forward. And, (maybe I’m reaching with this one) there has been speculation that *because of* Jesus’s birth being from both Mary (a human woman) and God himself (a divine being) that he technically *only has* Mary’s chromosomes, which would *theoretically* make him a *woman,* but since he presents as male, there is a theory that this means he’s trans/nonbinary (like Kris) There’s also the symbolism of “The Sacred Heart of Christ” which is described as “a flaming heart shining with divine light, pierced by the lance wound, encircled by the crown of thorns, surmounted by the cross, and bleeding.” Which not only is a *very* obvious connection to Kris’s soul and their overall humanity, but it also might be a connection to “Don’t forget” (“theres a light inside your soul that’s still shining in the cold, with the truth, the promise in our hearts.) Not to mention the other (possible) connections to lancer (the lance wound) and the crown of thorns (Noelle/the thorn ring). Then there’s the big matter of choice. “Nobody can choose who they are in this world.” Everything about Jesus’s life, death, and rebirth was predetermined since before he was born, leaving him with essentially *no choice* but to follow and fulfill his destiny, whether he likes it or not. Which I’d say is a lot like Kris, whom despite Ralsei saying to their face “your choices matter too, Kris.” (Which may have been him talking to us) They have not been able to make a *single* choice for themselves, and have been forced to sit back and watch *us* make those choices for them. Maybe (ultimately) there is a price to pay for going against the pre determined destiny of how the world works, and I think it has something to do with gasters “experiment”. What would happen, if you were able to give someone the ability to make a choice, in a world where your choices ultimately don’t matter? You get punished. We got punished when “the other voice” stopped us from creating our ideal selves in the goner maker sequence, and then we were put in Kris’s body. Jevil got punished from knowing too much and spouting the truth, and then he was banished and locked in a cage. Spamton was punished when he became more successful than any other Addison to the point of getting a room in queens mansion, and then everything was stripped away, and now he’s living in the dumpster. (Maybe in chapter 3, Mike is/was also punished?) I don’t know though, I just think this stuff was super interesting to think about!
I've been thinking about doing a "super-analysis" of Undertale, similar to what I've done with OMORI, though it would also include a lot of stuff on deltarune, so probably yes. If not, I still might make something else at some point :)
If we are heaven, then wouldn't banishing us prevent us from playing deltarune again? The game could make itself not playable after it's finished (or something of the like) and then there would only be 1 ending like Toby mentioned (for each player, but still). This fits all too well honestly.

@@weirdcakes304There are different types of AI. Generative AI is the one that is morally dubious. I think it is true that one NEEDS to use AI to be up to date with current trends, but generative AI is still morally grey even if it's "ethically trained" like Adobe's AI. I agree OP should avoid using at as all new youtubers should (including myself), but stuff like AI filters on capcut or AI background removal is okay in my opinion
Lore of The Religious Symbolism of Deltarune momentum 100
Just to put my own two cents in here, I would say that Kris *also* has several prominent ties and references to Jesus.
For example, Jesus is referred to as 100% human and 100% God,
Kris is still 100% themselves (their own person) and 100% us (the one we control)
A *Balance* if you will. But I think this could change in the future with the snowgrave route, and how if the “us” part continues to grow and overpower Kris, their human side might slowly cease to exist going forward.
And, (maybe I’m reaching with this one) there has been speculation that *because of* Jesus’s birth being from both Mary (a human woman) and God himself (a divine being) that he technically *only has* Mary’s chromosomes, which would *theoretically* make him a *woman,* but since he presents as male, there is a theory that this means he’s trans/nonbinary (like Kris)
There’s also the symbolism of “The Sacred Heart of Christ” which is described as “a flaming heart shining with divine light, pierced by the lance wound, encircled by the crown of thorns, surmounted by the cross, and bleeding.”
Which not only is a *very* obvious connection to Kris’s soul and their overall humanity, but it also might be a connection to “Don’t forget” (“theres a light inside your soul that’s still shining in the cold, with the truth, the promise in our hearts.)
Not to mention the other (possible) connections to lancer (the lance wound) and the crown of thorns (Noelle/the thorn ring).
(Maybe in chapter 3, Mike is/was also punished?)
I don’t know though, I just think this stuff was super interesting to think about!
YAYYYY ANOTHER VID !! :3
Are u planning to do more Undertale Symoblism videos?
I've been thinking about doing a "super-analysis" of Undertale, similar to what I've done with OMORI, though it would also include a lot of stuff on deltarune, so probably yes. If not, I still might make something else at some point :)
If we are heaven, then wouldn't banishing us prevent us from playing deltarune again? The game could make itself not playable after it's finished (or something of the like) and then there would only be 1 ending like Toby mentioned (for each player, but still). This fits all too well honestly.
Gaster is also the devil; aka a *_fallen angel_*
Banishing _his_ "heaven" would then be a good thing.
yo you forgot to credit the smooth edition prophecy (at 1:50/generally throughout the video) that isnt from the original game
@@catticus6637 Thanks for letting me know!
@@DetectiveMar no problem! also you put "slow edition" in the description lol
notice that it is the angel's heaven and not God's heaven. Lucifer was once an angel.
Lezzzz goooo!
