Can we imagine, for a moment, how The Great Gig in the Sky would sound with Kate monstering the vocals? No disrespect to Clare Torry, whose 'ad lib' was extraordinary, but KB would take it even higher into the stratosphere with her (pun intended) stellar, heart of the sun, range!
Kate is underrated in the States. Yes, she has a huge following, but still underrated and not commercially popular in the U.S. I only hear her on public radio, for some reason comercial radio doesn't play her. It's too bad really, because she is such brilliant and talented singer, songwriter, and muscian. Peace.
Because she never wanted to tour here. She turned down Fleetwood Mac in the late 70s who offered to have her open for the American leg of their 'Rumours' tour. This pissed off the American labels. That aside, her music is too cerebral for the majority of America and that's an uncomfortable truth for many. She even went over the heads of most of the alternative crowd.
And the late, great, Michael Kamen playing the piano. Quite a line-up. I have an audio recording of this whole show, and when Kate leaves the stage, the applause goes on and on and on, until Dave finally says, "Oh, come on!" and everyone laughs.
If you could somehow manage to upload a good quality version of it, you'd be a hero. Alternatively you could probably make a bit of dosh selling that to fans haha
@@ThePS3Beast109 i have heard one that has much better audio, but not video. its like 2 minutes of the video on fast play then a blurred photo, but you can here Kate a lot better. It is here on youtube however I think. Better audio comes up occaisonally but it gets taken down swiftly , its out there. Official footage of it exists. Kate as usaul wouldn't let them release it because it was her first live performance since the mid 80s (she mimed her way through the late 80s and early 90s then went on her hiatus and this was in the middle of that. ) , she sang well, but she didn't think it was her best.
Yes. It was an amazing tribute to Kate Bush. A legend invited her to perform the best song bar none from The Wall and most of his catalog. Gilmour is the most sincere, unselfish, secure with himself, artist out there.
David actually “discovered” Kate Bush. He came across her demo tape through a mutual friend after she’d been turned down by every major label. Gilmour paid for studio time for her to record a proper demo and helped produce it. And I couldn’t agree more, David Gilmour is without a doubt one of the most selfless and humble “rock stars” around.
I couldn’t agree more! Gilmour is one of the very few artists that doesn’t let his ego get in the way of his artistry. Hell, I didn’t even know he helped Kate Bush out until recently. He’s just an amazing gentleman all around. And a pretty decent guitar player as well 🤣. Another fun fact is his guitar strap that he uses is actually Jimi Hendrix’s strap that David’s wife, Polly Samson, purchased for his as a gift years ago.
@Who's Zoomin Who? As far as I remember there was no indication she would be there that night. Dave just introduced her to the audience and all hell broke loose. Also, Richard Wright played on several numbers to make it a wonderful evening that I will never forget.
Never payed much attention to Kate as a kid in the 70's and 80's, I guess she was way too weird for me, however, now I'm 43 I absolutely love her music and have fallen in love with her completely. She reminds me of better times and embodies a wonderful naturalness that comforts me, I would do anything to see her live or meet her in person, shes a great girl.
I love Pink Floyd, I WORSHIP Kate Bush, and this is amazing. It gave me goosebumps. Also, it's nice to see Kate performing with her (for lack of a better word) mentor again. Awesome :)
I always thought if Pink Floyd added a new member it would have to be Kate Bush. She is the only female vocalist who would rightly fit in that classic band. What a great new Pink Floyd album would be if Kate Bush was added -- not only for her vocals -- but for her words and music. "Running Up That Hill," and the "Hounds of Love," are just a female renditions of Pink Floyd. We're not getting any younger guys -- one more lp with Kate's contribution as a full-fledged member of Pink Floyd.
i prey that maybe someday we can a better quality video of this. thank you so much for sharing anyway. it's so much appreciated. i don't know why i'm bitching really i will see Kate in person this September. it would be amazing if Gilmour played guitar for her. wow.wow.wow.
I've been listening to Pink Floyd since I was 4 or 5 (because my elder brother used to play them very often), now I'm nearly 30 and I still do listen to Pink Floyd, I guess I'm a PF's fan. Recently I have discovered Kate Bush (yeah...recently... I feel like I have spent 30 years in a cave) and I felt in love with her music instantly. Then I discovered they perform some songs together. Then I discovered that David helped Kate to start her career. Amazing.

A nice lyrical cover by Kate Bush. The guitarist did a passable job with Gilmore's portion. If he practices maybe some day he might make a name for himself.
