Dam thats impressive i know the Acty & Sambar perform much better on long drive because the engine in the rear and radiator can cool it down much better. I hope to do a live like that soon
My wife and I drove from Sydney to Adelaide and back via Melbourne and that trip was nearly 3000 klm, our 1980schonda Acty van was the 550cc version. They WILL NOT GET BLOWN OVER, yes you can do a speed like that for ten or twelve hours.
Very informative video about its usefulness on the highway. The way the engine is spinning is similar to riding a small motorcycle on the highway, it gets tiring with the engine screaming. My 94 Corvette is the opposite of that. At 60 in top gear the engine is ticking over just a little bit above idle speed.
thanks, Yeah these things aren't the best on American highways and even worse on long drive but i always wanted to go on a mini roadtrip so i had to lol
Your Temp gauge should stay half way up to about 5/8ths of the way for normal driving reading. You may need a new thermostat and just a bit low. You are not overheating. :-)
Made some cup holders for the front on mine out of 3” pvc pipe and a 1/2 “ bolt. Cup holders are a nice thing to have on road trip. I have pictures but can’t get them in the comments. If interested I could email. Happy travels I’ve enjoyed mine for two years now.
To be honest i feel like most people who buy Kei trucks and vans all use regular i just wanna be extra and use premium i sure it doesn't even make any noticeable different lol
The octane ratings are different in US vs JP. The numbers are calculated different but these vehicles are made for 87 here in the USA. There are some cool videos on this that explain it all. :-)
My 1990 Subaru Sambar Try XS Supercharge will get 30mpg if I keep the speed at 80kmh. That is typical cruise speed on highway in Japan. Faster doesn't mean you'll get there first. I often pass people on down the highway who passed me previously. At 80kmh my engine turns at 4300rpm. What kills these engines is excess RPMs (spin bearing). The engine must be kept at 'peak tune' to run optimally and efficiently. That means full tune up, timing correct, maintenance up. I'll be driving mine from Renton, Wa. to HB, Ca. (~1370 miles each way) come end of December.
Hopefully as time goes on we will be able to import newer vans that do better on the highway. As far as ive seen it looks like the ones that have supercharged engines do best on highways and some cant even get to highway speeds.
