Pare who was out of position said in an interview with Francois Gagnon "I had to do it, I had to do something". Are we talking about purposely making a dangerous play result in unintended injury? That's like saying hurting someone driving drunk wasn't intentional. Pare saying he had to do something has shades of Mark Scheifele's comments after his idiotic hit on Jake Evans scoring on an empty net.

Come on Junkie take the rose tinted glasses off just a little bit, they didnt mean that and you know it. Youre intentionally miss using their words to stir the pot. They meant a heavyweight in terms of being a fighter not the actual size of the player in question, Pare has never had a pro hockey fight... Xhekaj has quite a few. Xhekaj is a heavyweight much like Reaves, Deslauriers, Olivier, Rempe etc. Pare is not in that *weight class*. I understand being upset about what happened to Laine especially as a Habs fan... but is that really the sentence you wanna pick out of this 40 minute segment? Is that really the hill you wanna die on? Intentionally miss interpreting what that quote means?
Or do you really expect me to believe you've never heard a "fight" mismatch be described as "wow that guy is not in his weight class". Which is common phrasing for commentators whenever a known fighter, jumps or "fights" someone who doesnt fight.
@@CrimsonicStorm Let's not pretend like Pare is some snowflake that's never been in a hockey fight before. There are plenty of videos of him fighting, as well as being a dirty player. Weight class doesn't matter under these circumstances. You take out a team's star you are going to be punished, mismatch or not. Maybe don't blow guys knees out if you don't want to get beat up.
Xhekaj probably didn't get more because the league realized the fucked up by not calling a penalty on Paré.

As a Habs fan, I see the coaches being part of this too. They know who's going to play, they know who they are suiting up. Match the lineups and nobody will bat an eye. Have a Top 6 NHL vs Bottom 6 AHL, weird things will happen. It's pre-season, these games are worthless. Anybody bragging about a pre-season win needs to touch grass. Same thing happens when the Leafs pop their top 9 against one of our top 6 and a bunch of AHLers. It doesn't make any sense.
It's not about Winning in preseason. It's about surviving. Get it?

Comparing to Perry & Tavares is a joke. It was clearly unintentional and there was no controversy. Pare clearly extended his knee on purpose.
The NHL rink isn't wide enough! 85 feet vs 98 in the EU. Players are faster bigger, more agile, grow the rink, grow the offence, give room for skill to shine. We all know the NHL is rich enough, they just don't seem to mind injuries. Time to think outside the box boys.

No TSN, Xhekaj didn't get suspended because the league knew the f%#£ked up on the no call to Paré. And of course, not one Leaf had the balls to step up to Xhekaj. The hit on Paré was intentional. He was standing still (which is why he is an AHLer) and stuck is leg out to hit Laine. He knew what he was doing.

As a Habs fan I was expecting it to be honest. I was expecting 5-6 games BUT the ejection + 27 minutes made me doubt it because that's how the league works these cases. Bigger punishment during game = shorter or no suspension and opposite.
