Difficult Horseshoe to Build//Half Inch by One Inch ROADSTER// Caulk & Wedge

In this video I build a Roadster horseshoe. This shoe is commonly on shoe lists for farrier competition but doesn't get applied on horses as much these days in the USA, but for other countries, like England, they are applied much more just because they have more horses that are used for pulling or driving.
This video I give a step by step demonstration of how I build a roadster. They are difficult to build but teach you a lot about basic forging techniques.
Farrier/Horseshoeing Competitions take place all over the world but we have one coming up in July in Spokane, Washington.

Lot's of hard work and practicing for contests gave me the ability to be able to build nice shoes! By no means am I the greatest on earth but I try to do as good as I can.

I didn’t realize you were putting a scarf to fold the caulk over I thought you were going to bend it upside down haha

Nope not making a scarf for the caulk. I set it over the edge to give me a mark of how much to turn up so that my caulk size stays consistent. For this size shoe it's typically 1 inch.
