      bigtractorpower one thing about them is the weight. We demoed one and our S680 combines had weight in the front instead of the weight being steady.

      It is exciting seeing new machines. I find it more challenging to find and film the classics working. I enjoy seeing 30,40 and 50 year old machines still working strong. Where do you live?

    I was wondering if you were going to film an S770 this year. You can only see 790s so much before it gets old. Didn’t know the corn heads got upgraded this year too. The folding option looks like a good way to go.

    I wonder if there is some form of interlock to keep the head auger from being engaged when the head is folded. Seems that it could be a real pain getting the stub augers timed back to the center auger if either piece moved when separated.

    • @philiplogemann314
      @philiplogemann314 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No there is not, there are inter meshing plates with springs pushing them together, you turn the head slowly until all the plates are meshed then fire it up to full speed.

      Yes that is the sound. I grew up around a 95EB. Great combines.

  • @albertafarmer894
    @albertafarmer894 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Since 2014 the deere s670 now s770 combine has 391HP horsepower and a power boost of 425 and peak power of 449HP(which is time limited by engine control unit timer)2012 to 2013 interm tier4 models were 373HP and 425hp peak power.The power increase and other changes after 2013 was very noticeable and made it a way better combine.Something i noticed is the unloading spout on these machines since 2015 Deere has had a different spout, wondering why these have the old style,maybe cause it looks like these have the shortest and smaller diameter unload auger option?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hp rating is interesting. I took the number from the John Deere S700 sales brochure. The unloading auger is the 26ft model. There is a 23.5 auger as well.

    • @albertafarmer894
      @albertafarmer894 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigtractorpower Gosh those two combines at the begining of the video look like they have the 23.5 foot unloader I can tell just by seeing how far it sticks over the end of the machine.But maybe you are right cause you were actually there and saw it while filming.And the brochure does state both 373 and 391 horsepower but one is for engine with emission system and one without.They are still sold in other parts of the world without emission systems anyway they used too.

      I think pretty much everybody has cab corn at least once a season. What’s the big deal?

    • @justind6039
      @justind6039 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      How else are you supposed to get the corn off the cab? Yes these are very expressive machines used for high production agriculture. Likely will be traded off in a couple of years anyway. Trust me shovel scratches (if there even are any) on the roof are the very least of anybody's concern when you're playing this game.

    • @jmurphy1973
      @jmurphy1973 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree. There better be a broom and a pan of some sort if it's my machine. A shovel starts banging off the cab of my machine and someone's in trouble. Scratches = rust unless it's aluminum.
      Nobody will ever see it but that doesn't mean you go up there and use a grain scoop. It isn't that big of an area...use a broom and a large plastic dust pan. It won't take very long.

    • @philiplogemann314
      @philiplogemann314 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jmurphy1973 the top of the cabs on new farm equipment are plastic

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Good thing the owner of the combine was driving this one. Cab corn happens. It tough in a field like this because of the trenches. Your going to dip forward and the corn will spill. I would give out a gold trophy to the farm that goes an entire season with out any cab corn. The roof is made out of plastic so your ant really going to damage it.

      The S700 has an updated seat and control center to match the 8R tractor. The S700 has auto adjust to match crop conditions. Other than that the S700 looks just like an S600.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Color coordination does not seem to be a big priority on header wagons in this area. I know a farm that runs 8 S790s. They have green, red and black header wagons. I think it is which dealer is offering the best price at the same time.

    I'm just curious how farms have become, from family to corporate, making it nearly impossible for those of us who have never done it, to get into it. With subsidies from big brother along with millions in high tech equipment in tow, crap wages how can anyone other than those born to it get started and make a living.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The farm in the video is a family farm. I have never filmed at a cooperate farm. In Kentucky where I line double crop soybeans a big factor in running new machines. One field will produce two crops in one year. You cut wheat in June, drill soybeans in the wheat stubble and then harvest a second crop of soybeans in October. Most farms in this region have new combines.

      The S770 is a direct decent of the 9750STS which was the largest combine offered by John Deere 18 years ago. Running a 12 row head is no issue at all for a class 7 combine.
