I just wanted to say thank you, I used to can and have a homestead I had joy and one day my sister was murdered, my life was shattered I let my garden, my homestead die. But watching you and listening to you has made me get out of my recliner (lol) and get back to it. I've replanting my garden (fall) and I was gifted a tone of black grapes and tomatoes that I canned grape jam, tomato sauce and soup. I also canned some bone broth. But I just wanted to tell you thank you. Just cuz my sister, my best friend was taken from me doesn't mean I have to die with her. I still have purpose the Lord blesses me each day and you are one of those blessings. Thanks for all you do.
Just wanted to throw this out there all the prayers sent to southern Utah on behalf of us desperately needing rain, we are getting some. YIPEE, Keep praying for us though we need more than a few hours but so glad (happy dance) we are getting any at all.
Patara Appalachian homestead, when I first started watching you about a year ago. You had 98,000 + following you. I want to say congratulations to you and the growth of your channel.. I love each video, I have down loaded some of them, thank you for all the things, subjects, topics, you discuss here . You truly make me laugh at some of the things you say, and do . You have been a blessing for me .. keep up the true talk. May you be blessed each day...
If you freeze your tomatoes before you are ready to can, when you thaw them the skins slip right off. Just core them first, saves a lot of time and don’t heat up your kitchen.
This is how I do it. It also helps to accumulate enough to can, keeps everything fresh, cause your tomato can look great today then tomorrow is rotten!
I freeze mine too. When I accumulate enough, thaw & peel. I make lots of salsa every year. Other types of canned tomatoes too. It's what works out best for me.
The leftover “salsa juice” you can use to cook rice! It makes an excellent Mexican rice side dish! Thanks for everything you do to educate us Patera 💖 God bless!
We are not a salsa eating family but the one and only year that I made salsa I had an idea and roasted my mater's on a charcoal grill. Girl I'm telling you what, friends and family raved over my salsa. The flavor was over the top by adding charcoal roasted mater's.
Canned some mustard relish today. I had never canned(my mom and grandmothers canned but I never had the interest and was scared)and at the ripe young age of 68 urged by Patara I have this week made some watermelon rind pickles, some zucchini pickles and some bread and butter pickles. I love it! I also learned how to pressure can. I canned beef and chicken and some broth. Thanks for giving me the nerve to try! Love you keep on keeping on! You are making a big difference in alot of lives 🙏🙏💕💕
Been very busy today to. Canned 7 quarts of dill pickles, 1 quart pickled okra and 8 pints of bread-n-butter pickles. I'm exhausted but satisfied with what I've been able to get done. Last week I made 8 pints of apricot jam. Already canned ground beef, Toscano soup, beef stew and ham and bean soup ad well as 24 small jars of different types of peppers. My pantry is growing. That doesn't count the store bought preps. We want starve.
Excellent job you! I'm still on the beginner phase I bought an electric pressure canner. I have a glass top range. I do have a Ball canning jar so I'm excited to get started thank you for sharing. Have you been canning long it sounds like you're a professional, I've heard once you get started you want to can everything but the kitchen sink. I'm a little apprehensive but I'm going forth I have a garden in process and everything's coming in pretty good couple of things have been hit by the drought but I'm determined to go forward
@@nosheeple2751 Go forth and can. I started in May. Never canned in my life before. And pretty much want to can everything now 😂 (but the kitchen sink). Ha ha
You talk just like my mom's side from Texas and I find it very comforting. Makes me feel at home! Thank you for your videos. Seriously needed this wake up call!
I started not peeling my tomatoes a few years ago. My pizza sauce, pasta sauce and salsa. Everyone love mine and never say a word about skins. My dad always said that most of your vitamins are in the skins. And the bonus is it save me time. Love your idea of precooking the veggies.
I remember my uncle saying the same thing! I am new to canning and since i had an abundance of cherry tomatoes that is what i used for my salsa. Can i not pull of all those skins? Will they be rubbery in final product?
Y’all we're being drained at the pumps and at the stores.... and in the fields Doing my best to can what I can. I just canned 24 quarts of spaghetti sauce. I’m so excited for this video. I’ve been looking for a Great salsa video to follow.
Hello and I would like to say thank you I needed to see this whole process that you did with the salsa as I am new to canning so I say thank you God and thank you Patera
Thanks for this! I was on vacation and got home Sat night to a garden full of beautiful ripening tomatoes and onions and bell peppers and was thinking you had done a salsa video but hadn’t had time to look. But here it is now, just in time! Thanks for all you do and say, you be blessed, sister! ❤️👩🌾
My tomato life was changed this year - I bought a tomato corer suggested by Homestead Heart - oh my!!! I'm in love with a simple tool that just made it so much easier and it was so worth the small expense - I bougth them and since they were inexpensive I bought 2 lol -
I grew up with those same plates that you cut the tomatoes on!😅 Oh wow this salsa video brings back so many warm memories.🤗♥️ Thank you for this lesson.🤓📝
I learned canning tomatoes yesterday for the second time ever that my aunt has hands of steel! Happy to say I kept up this year and got 40 jars on our first run for the summer
I'm making this recipe today. Did all my prep last night and put the chopped up veggies and stored them in the refrigerator. Since my measurements are not exact, I will be testing the PH and add some lemon juice according to make sure it's safe for water bath method. Good Job Patara! I like my salsa chunky just like you. cleaning up the garden left overs.
Looking forward to the canning videos! I've started canning this year at 61! I love it! I still worry, with every batch, about whether I'm doing everything perfectly and if I'm going to make my family sick😳.
YOU'RE really a good teacher you know That... You're really good at this... Thanks for being so real... That's why I like to tune in to you...cause you're good and you are real. God Bless Be careful in that kitchen.. no getting burnt now. LOL
Tried your recipe and prepping video and I have canned my first salsa! We are growing tomatoes and they are plentiful! Great way to preserve your abundance! Thank you for video!
Thanks for sharing your process!!! I dehydrate the tomato skins, powder them, and use them to thicken up soup and put a bit in with meat while its cooking. Love canning and the dehydrator!!!
Wouldn't ya know the week that stuff starts coming out of the garden here in PNW Washington...we get a 95° heat wave all week. It's been the craziest year y'all! Great job with that salsa Patera. Keep putting it away and packing it in! You are such an inspiration to us. Thanks for that!
I love how chunky your salsa is. I like chunky but I never thought of doing that chunky. I bet it is delicious with a wonderful bite of home grown tomato. Thanks for sharing, you are such an example to everyone that sees this!
hi Pater. No judgement from me for using store bought stuff lol. I am a senior living in a mobile home park with back and neck issues so gardening is not in my future anytime soon :) I mostly buy from my local Hispanic meat store. They get their tomatoes locally grown by farmers in my area so I feel ok buying from this place. I am supporting my local farmers. I have not tried salsa yet. Tomatoes are in season so I am hoping to get some from my food pantry at their next produce drop.
Thank you for sharing! I am so afraid to use a pressure cooker, trauma from my childhood. But this water wash is an excellent idea and so good to see done in person. You've been an inspiration to me, especially with these upcoming events in our future, regarding our economy etc. you are appreciate it and loved. Thanks for caring about all of us and thanks for sharing your thoughts in your home, and your life

I assume your canner does not use a gasket but you might tell everyone to not only get spare gaskets for their canners, but also for their instapots and ninja foodies. I had instapot and ninja foodie both cooking down a lot a hamburger and sausage today for storage. Using both of them and staggering their cooking times was very handy and avoids wasting time standing over the stove. Thanks for taking the time to make useful content and share it.
Thanks for the video, I'll be working on canning my tomatoes pretty soon here. Right now I've been working on canning my pickled cucumbers, garden produced the hell out of those! Good year of getting my feet wet with some small time farming
I've got a picky eater who hasn't liked my homemade salsa, only pace chunky. I saw Ms Lippy make Mrs wages with canned tomatoes and it looked exactly like Pace! I calculated the price and it's cheaper! I made a couple batches, looks the same and tastes soooo similar too!
