I'm glad I came back, because this was a fantastic review of a game I really need to play digitally, but gods, man, I think I'm starting to appreciate these puns and it scares the heck outta me.
It's been a crazy day for me today, and I got a massive headache. It's always such a joy to sit back and relax with one of your videos, Mr. Parish. Your content and insight are the best medicine for an achy mind!! For real though, I never knew this game existed, yet it looks so familiar. I think I remember seeing Tron Bonne stuff years ago and assuming it was maybe a famous homebrew title released in the early years.
I really hope Capcom does a future compilation of the Legends games and Tron Bonne to all current gen platforms so Sony's misplaced hatred of old games doesn't put a good game like this out of reach again. Thanks for yet again another deep dive into the Rockman DASH/Megaman Legends series.
Additionally this game was the open love letter to Tatsunoko's Time Bokan franchise, like Yatterman, which the Bonne family heavily cribs (and a lot of video games at the time were nostalgic for. Even Capcom also had Devilotte and her goons for the trope). The robot in the torture room background is even based on a recurring machine who doled out punishment to the villains of the third series, Zenderman, albeit made to have Tron's hair style.
@@Levitz9 And one more to emphasize the joke-- in the Japanese version, Lex Loath's voice is provided by the late Junpei Takiguchi . One of his most iconic roles? Dokurubei, the boss of Doronjo and her two henchmen who caused almost as much trouble and pain to the trio as the good guys!

I get frustrated by these half-translated puns that never get localized. “N” and “m” in Japanese are interchangeable like “l” and “r” are. There are a bunch of puns and significant names in classic series that are mistranslated and never corrected.
I mentioned this in the comments of the MML review, but yes. The "bahn" pronunciation I chalk up to 90s/PS1 translation jank. Remember these are the people who, in MM8, allowed the voice actor for Megaman to pronounce "Bass" like the fish, rather than the musical range. I'm probably the only one in the universe who cares, but the fact that everyone now de-facto refers to them as the "bahn" family rather than the "bone" family remains one of my most-hated tropes to come out of the era lol
The Brains stat also makes Servbots more likely to grab items without you telling them to. Also, the Strength, Speed, and Brains stats of your current sniper all do things for your weapons. Strength is damage, Speed is how many times you can fire without pausing, and Brains does something different for each weapon (for the Search Cannon, it gives a slight homing effect; for the Gatling Gun, it lets you fire multiple bullets at once, and for the Bonne Bazooka, it makes the explosion bigger). The Gatling Gun actually has higher DPS at max Brains and minimum Strength than it does at max Strength but minimum Brains. The game's really arcane about things like that, and I kinda love that.
Jeremy properly frames this game not as the awkward lesser off-shoot of the MegaMan Legends series, but as The Most Feature-Rich Sokobon Clone Ever Made. More seriously, I love the Legends games, and love this game for both its inventive mix of mechanics and its utterly charming aesthetic and tone. "It just feels good, you know?" totally sums up why it's a great game.
I loved the heck out of this game. The raid levels felt like a pre GTA III. Such a fun series, and it is criminal that the series never got a true resolution.
Whenever Jeremy covers a Megaman Legends game, my heart is filled with joy. I'm super glad that Capcom did release this on PSN, even if Sony wants us to forget anything before PS4 ever happened. Maybe Capcom can put a multiplatform Megaman Legends Legacy Collection out there for us?
I've been playing this game for over twenty years now and I was today years old when I found out you could shake down trees and cop cars. I'm really sad the demo disc I have doesn't have that Tron dream sequence shown in the video.
Great and insightful, Mega Man legends series is my favorite series on PS1, it has this charm that only maybe Skies of Arcadia shares. This three games will never leave my collection

A friend of mine surprised me one year when he handed me the disk of MoTB for my birthday. We both played the games when we were 12 but this was when I was 27 I believe and he got it for $75 without the instruction booklet or original case. Its one of my most cherished belongings.
I should have grabbed this way back when. Copies of the game now days are not cheap. JP delivers a great in depth look at a game I was always curious about. I enjoyed it immensely.
Worth mentioning Tron Bonne as an amazing character in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. Playing that game on Dreamcast I was like, "who the hell is this crazy character with all the weird lego minions?" Hilarious and amazing character that needs to be rebooted or remastered. Capcom you are crazy!!

Its almost been 10 years since Megaman Legends 3 was cancelled. This video pops up in my list because I search MML3 so much. I never forgave Crapcom for canceling that game. I even bought a 3ds to play the demo that was never released to the public. I voted on the character art on the Crapcom website and everything. To this day I still want MML3. One day soon I will play the entire series on my channel.

Since watching your Gintendo/Famicoffee streams of this game I’ve A) been kicking myself for being a MMLegends fan back in the day yet listening to a schoolmate that said Tron Bonne was lame and not worth trying and B) mildly obsessed with the idea of a Wind Waker prequel playing as Tetra in Tron Bonne’s cool mixed genre

Still more similar to Laputa than Future boy Conan due to the tech and it's more mystical/magical qualities of the Precursors that can be compared to the tech of Laputa. FBC didn't have this attribute in the series, as the technology was more grounded in realism.
@@rickylovesyou it was my understanding that most of what is in Laputa conceptually originated from Conan. Things like the world being mostly submerged and legends version of Dr Wily being Dr. Lao. All this talk of Laputa though is making me want to revisit the last guardian game again.
One of my great gaming regrets is that I had a copy of this game but traded it in to one of the stores that became GameStop. I don't remember how much I got for it, but it wasn't anything near what it's worth now.

Still wish Capcom would port those Megaman Legends games to a Nintendo console (besides the N64), but that's about as unlikely as Megaman Legends 3 at this point.
I just rewatched the Vinesauce Android compilation containing the infamous Tron Bonne "incident" (censored for TH-cam, of course), and now I find this in my subscription feed. I'm experiencing a roller coaster of emotions right now.
The first thing I think of when I see this game is “$335.” Because that’s how much a copy was in a local game store I visited once. (I didn’t pick it up, for the record. Pretty sure I got some Metroid Prime games instead, but *oof*)
Loved your video but hands down it has been the most difficult to watch and has required me to backtrack A LOT. But it's my fault because I get distracted at the voice acting and dialogue and want to see more!
Anybody in the comments know how to make the PS store boot up on a PS3? The website has recently taken everything down and the PS store just freezes up when I try to open it on our PS3. UPDATE: I've noticed other folks having this problem. I had to delete the Playstation store and re-download it. It works now with no issues.
"temps" is masculine, and you cannot use it with "bonne", so your wordplay doesn't work. We say "du bon temps". I would recommend "Bonne détente" or "Bonne occasion".

I honestly think The Misadventures of Tron Bonne is the best game in the Legends series.

Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Legend of Mana, and Ape Escape are probably my three favourite PS1 games.

Yes, every copy of the American version included a bonus demo disc, but only the JP bonus disc included the unique material.
