Suzanne, Thank you for making these educational videos. It gives those of us who need more review and time to process a great resource to return to again and again. I will be coming back to this video often.
Suzanne, Thank you for making cable equivalencies easy to understand with your clear explanations, and close up video. I always learn something new from you.
Hi Suzanne, I already know your video is a 👍 before I even start watching! As with all your other videos, this was full of tips and information. It will help me a lot to get started on my next cable sweater project thank you.
@@SuzanneBryan I was wondering if you have ever knitted a palm gusset for mittens? I would really love to learn how to knit a palm gusset. If you ever have time to make a sample could you please share that technique?
So this method would apply if I, for instance, knit a sweater that had cables only on the front with the sleeves and back being plain stockinette? I've purchased several sweater with that type of pattern.
I have two videos that might help you, depending on if you use a cable needle or not. This first one is without a cable needle - th-cam.com/video/wM2S88kG3CE/w-d-xo.html and this one is with a cable needle - th-cam.com/video/s7zAfXSdDGc/w-d-xo.html
Your video tutorials have helped me be a more confident knitter. Thank you! Can you provide information on how to grade a sock for different sizes? I’m wanting to try my hand at writing a pattern, but not having much luck in finding instructions. Maureen
Thank you Simply Maur crafting! Happy knitting. If you go to the Craftyarnconcil.com Standard Body Measurements www.craftyarncouncil.com/standards/foot-size-charts you will find the standard sizes for socks. Keep in mind that most socks are knit with a 10% negative ease. Happy knitting.
Wonderful Suzanne. Just wondering if cable stitch gauge should always be measured at the widest point? Seems like a comment I received on my level I cable swatches stated that gauge should be measured at the narrowest point of the cable at the crossings. Thank you.
Hi Bonnie, if there is cable flare, you do not want to measure across the flare portion, which is generally the widest area. You want to measure across the center of the cable for the Master Hand Knitting program, and that is generally where the cable crossings are. This about how you would use this information for constructing a sweater - if you used the widest portion (the flare) and then most of your sweater was the cable crossings or narrower portion, your gauge would be way off and your sweater would end up way too small. I hope you have continued on. Happy knitting.
@@SuzanneBryan I am using acrylic yarn because the charity that I am knitting this shawl for requires it. How do I get an accurate measurement with this kind of yarn
This video is great. Suzanne certainly has the ability to explain logically to help knitters of all abilities.

oh Dear....I’m going to need a tutorial for the tutorial.....🧐
Try it on a swatch, it will make more sense then.
Did you measure this watch blocked
Yes, it must be blocked first to get accurate gauge.
@@SuzanneBryan I am using acrylic yarn because the charity that I am knitting this shawl for requires it. How do I get an accurate measurement with this kind of yarn
@@sandracohen8481 I would still block it, can’t hurt
