Very nicely done! It's nice to see how Duncan is getting on while Skarloey was being repaired. I do hope Duncan gets the praise he deserves! I also love the suspense you add to these stories! And I must say, theburiedtruck does a wonderful job at narrating these!
I love the irony of the ending in this, with Duncan in distress yet all the engines around him are beaming at the happiness gleaned by Duncan's actions in this story, bu the engine hasn't a clue at all :P. This little arc is turning out quite well.
This was a good way to get Duncan to make up for what he did in the previous story. I didn't expect the fox coming to attack the boy at all. Peter Sam derailing by accident was a good bit to add. But I'm not sure how Duncan was being the lone wolf during the children's picnic :-/.

I can understand the contrasts of Peter Sam and Duncan's views on kids. Even so, Duncan managed to be the hero of the day. And who knows? Well, you get the idea. The boy likely had some snacks in his pocket, which caught the fox's attention. If they're hungry enough, they can, and _will_ target people. However, those are outlandishly rare... Mostly because a Fox would rather try and catch something several times smaller than it, rather than risk going after a bigger creature that would prove to be a waste of effort.

You know and one of my stories Sir-handel actually killed a guard in the break van and yet everyone in my series make no attempts to speak with him and the standard gauge engines don't even try to speak with the narrow gauge engines whenever they see them after Sir-handel just killed a guard they're like we're not speaking to you not so long as you live with that killer of an engine the thin controller decides to send Sir Handel away because everyone's avoiding the narrow gauge railway unless he has sent packing so he is sent to the Robloxla Quarry railway the thin controller did not want to get rid of the number three but at the same time people refused to go on the railway of Sir-handel still ran on it so he was sent to the Robloxla Quarry railway he was to work there with unfamiliar engines they say that they work in the mines this is the Robloxla Quarry railway they bring empty slate trucks to the Quarry and then take the loaded slate trucks to where the big railway is yes they have a no passenger service only the big railway has a passenger service meanwhile back on the Skarloey railway things are going well with Sir-handel gone for a while what happens next is that they need to turn Sir-handel into a pumping engine they said that sir-handel is going to be used as a pumping engine until he learns to behave and just so you know I didn't know what Sir-handel what it look like as a pumping engine so what I did was the only thing that I took off was his wheels later on with Sir-handel as a pumping engine there is less work to do and over the years the railway had gotten old with poorly maintained locomotives running on rickety old rails the manager said that there was no more slate to gather from the mines anymore and because of the thunderstorm last night the mines are all flooded and we will have to get a truck for Sir-Handel he will need to suck water out of the mines and Sir-handel actually broke down it wasn't his fault the mines flooded when the manager arrived he was not happy Sir-handel I don't believe it the mines are now flooded don't worry it wasn't your fault the workmen were just too lazy to even maintain you don't worry I'll give you your new set of wheels the reason why he was giving Sir-handel his wheels back is because he did his best the other reason is because the railway was on the vibe of closure a few weeks later the engines were put up for sale they decided to take lorwerth tatty and Gilbert to the Robloxla railway and they were taking Julia and Jerome to the bloxvile railway and soon the thin controller arrived and said Sir-Handel today you are coming back to the Skarloey railway Sir-handel said but sir no one wants me not now said the thin controller Said the other engines are struggling to keep up and buying a new engine to replace you wouldn't be the same so Sir-Handel was sent back to the Skarloey railway
