The price is fair for the quality. I now have 5000kms on the bike and it's been a dream mate. Runs great. Had a steering wobble but that was sorted under warranty. Apart from that no complaints. I'm more then ready for an upgrade but I still have loads of fun on this machine.
@Bigoz......licence rules have changed here in Australia, initially we are restricted to engines no larger than 650cc however LAMS (learner approved motorcycle scheme) bikes have ECU's that restrict power output. Once we have held our class RE (learner/provisional) licence for 1 year we can get a class R licence which is unrestricted and we can buy/ride any size bike. Its a good scheme, it gives riders practical experience prior to unleashing them on a 600 or litre bike.
Quite possibly mate but do not fear. As long as you respect the bike and take your time to learn you'll be fine. Find a nice quiet car park the larger the better. Take off in 1st and then get into second, second is a better slow gear because it's not as touchy as first, sit on about 20-30kmph and just do big circles for a while to get a feel for it. These bikes have a VERY learner friendly clutch. You can even take off with out any throttle at all. Nice and slow man you'll love it.
You are exactly right on outgrowing it, I got this bike Saturday and within 2 hours I wish I would of went with the 650 that I was debating when I purchased this one. I took it on the freeway today and it was a bit windy but anything over 65mph was blowing me around and I didn't feel stable, let alone the lack of power. I someone is using this for around town under 60 mph great fun bike, but not very comfortable either.
Thanks for the reply/tip! Sorry for the late response my computer has been down and I just fixed it. Yes there is a motorcycle training class which gets you a voucher for a bike license, if i'm not mistaken, and yes it is $200 for two days. That class will definitely be the first thing I do before getting a bike for myself. The next thing is convincing my wife, who is totally against it. That would be the hardest part :]
I hear you mate, us Australians get ripped off on many things over here cost wise. I think the retailers play on the whole island/import thing. But you'll love Australia mate it's a great country. In my opinion if you've already owned a 250, if you can manage the cost, it would be better upgrading to a 600.
Agreed with everything you said Phil. My mate had this as one his first bike as well. Once he was confident enough on the road he outgrew and got a bigger one. But I think it's the perfect first bike.
ride defensively, be alert, be aware of your surroundings, trust nothing.... no - thing ! when you make an error and almost crash or have crashed... go home, and take the time to analyse the situation. What did you do wrong, how did you do it wrong,... think of how next time to make it right in the same or similar situation. dont stop learning how to ride. and you will live many days to enjoy riding.
I have a ninja 300 U have had it for about 2 months and I am ready to upgrade as well. it is a fun little bike but the key word is little not a lot of power when you REALLY need it. I have top it out at 110 mph to many times to count, leaning hard that I scrape my foot pegs needing to left my foot when I hit tight turns. over all good starter bike. next up FZ6 or VHR 800. I want power coupled with a smooth ride!
Totally Chelle! I was out today and had to overtake a hummer, the tool was going slow (80 in a 100) when I went to over take him he put his foot flat. I barely got in front of him before an oncoming car passed. It annoyed me a bit because on a 600cc i would have passed him in an instant but I had to ride this like I stole it just to pass this guy lol
I took it easy for about 30kms then after realizing that sitting on the freeway at 110kmph I'm doing nearly 8000rpm I just thought stuff it. I road normally after that and after 200kms I rode it hard. What I didn't do was ride it hard for long periods of time. The run in oil isn't capable of lubricating the engine in high temps like the better oil. So if you're going to ride hard, do it in short bursts. Also vary your speed a lot. This is what I did, that doesn't make it right though just saying
We should stay in touch, well you know where to reach me. I'll be selling my 300 in October, I know it's a long way off but I'll probably have $4500-$5000 on it depending on mileage. Keeping it in the Kawasaki family though guys so don't worry! zx6r all the way baby!
3. get to know the bike. u are not starting with a small scooter but an acutuall sports bike with 34 hp. dont underestimate it. its very strong and u will have to drive slow and safe, and practice as much as u can until u actually feel as one with the bike. (even than dont try to showoff.) 4. ride for fun.
hahahaa no people say 'hows it going" all the time, thats funny, wonder where he's from. but i also just found your channel yesterday and love your vlogs, keep it up
I really like the 300 overall, but for me personally I just can't get accustomed to the dash. I don't know why, but I prefer the terrible gauges to nice monitors. lol
From the photos the whits looks better, but, in person the black looks way better! Its a bitch to keep clean though, but whens shes all polished up it looks amazing!
hey mate hows it going? im an Aussie living in the UK. Got a quick question for you. I ride a 600 Bandit S and i see alot of vids on youtube with guys over there on smaller bikes.ie 300-400cc bikes. i was wondering if the laws over mean you cant ride bigger bikes for a certain amount of time after passing you full bike test? just curious as i passed my test over here. and with my age i could ride and cc bike as soon as i passed. Cheers Chris
driving motorcycles is completely different than driving a car. start small and go up. big reason for people crashing bikes is cuz they brake on turns and lose traction. you can do that in cars but never on motorcycles. unless youre going really slow
I've never rode a bike before not even a moped. Am I gonna kill myself in this thing? Serious question. I'm confident in my driving skills and judgement but don't really know what I'm getting myself into regarding motorcycles. If appreciate any advice
you must know a few things first. 1. NO ONE SEES YOU. you should be very awake and sharp, notice everyone on the road, cars and bike and always assume that you are literally invisible. 2. dont attempt your luck, dont try to be a hero or "the cool guy" that will get you killed. FOR SURE. dont try to impress anyone on the road not even the car with the hottest babes you've ever seen.
5. wear the proper gear - riding a sports bike is a dangerous as it is. invest a bit more money (even more than a bit if necessary) but make sure you got all the gear you need, in a bad case scenario you will thank god you had it. IT DOES SAVE LIFE. remember, you can never be too careful when it comes to sports bike riding. GLUCK MATE.

I hear you mate. It's not for everyone and is better suited to the twisty mountain roads then the freeway.

Yeah brother! San Andreas introduced me to that classic.
