I’m recently transitioned mtf. I’m aged 58 and been on HRT just over a month now. I feel happier, affirmed in my truer self and enjoying life truly for the first time I can ever remember, with no doubts, diminished mental state or wellbeing. I have no more feelings of loss or unconformity of how I look or feel deep within me any more. I know I have a long way to go, but I’m on my journey at last.
@@CharlotteBell-rl7lo I know a little encouragement can go a long way, Charlotte. It does for me anyway. I'm only a year older than you and just starting my journey, and the only support I have is a therapist. LOL So, I like to offer helpful comments when I see others going through the same thing because many have zero support. Sometimes just giving a smile or a kind word can really help someone if they're having a tough time. You never know! 😁 🏳⚧🌷
I'm a 33 year old transwoman. I'm so happy I came across this conversation. The fact that the information provided is actually useful to both cis and trans females. I love that we can all be in the same conversation seeking health knowledge around the same concept.
This is such an awesome presentation. I'm in my late 60s and have been fighting gender dysphoria for most of my life. I am definitely going forward with HRT. So many of my concerns were covered and in the comment section, I found three "older" folks who started late in life, and they're doing great. Thanks so much for everything!!
Hi! I started HRT @ 70yo. Estradiol patch and spironolactone. I’ve had no side effects other than occasional dizziness when I stand up too quickly. This is the spiro. I feel so happy and my wellness is more balanced since starting my transition 🏳️🌈
Thank you for this video. At age 66 I began HRT with estradiol patches (in March 2021). In the fall of '21 I switched to the gel, but in June of 2022, my endocrinologist noted that I wasn't absorbing it so she switched me back to the patches. My latest blood test showed an estradiol level of 110, which is the target range my endocrinologist sought for me. I have also been on progesterone, 100 mg daily, for a year now.
Hi, l started Hrt, estradiol patches age 71, my health is good, I started transition late in life, I'm 73 now and can see changes, lm a much happier person, better late than never, you are never too old to start
Thank you, for this Video... I am 63yrs Transgender women, it's has been a journey in my HRT'S going on 4yrs now and also haveing gender affirming surgeries... thank you for addressing the older Transgender community, found this very educational
Thank you for this video 🙏 I’m ftm transgender & have recently come off testosterone due to losing my hair. Coming off T has been horrendous… like an early menopause. More research & more funding for older transgender people is so important 👍
I started HRT at 50 and after a few years I'm having a lot of difficulty dealing with doctors here in Canada. They only asked me what my goals were when I started my transition journey, which have changed more than once since, and only seem to care about my levels. Despite going through my second puberty now they think I need to be treated as though I am menopausal, only thinking about my age but never seeing me. They do not take into consideration my overall health ~ and I am very healthy, eat a great whole foods diet, exercise regularly and do not smoke. What's worse, they have never contemplated the impact of their heavy handedness on my mental health, which has be strained by their actions more than any other thing in my life during my transition... and I was living in Florida lol. I luckily do get alternative care in the US, much to their chagrin when I return to Canada, and it comes at a great cost, which I am grateful I can afford (though I am really not happy about it). This was a great talk to listen to, it confirmed many of the thoughts I've had regarding how poor my interactions have been, as well as my disgust regarding the lack of knowledge and care the healthcare system can have towards its trans patients.
Without the male gonads, isn't Estrogen needed to protect the bones - to avoid osteoporosis? So HRT will be needed for Trans women in old age? I've met a young trans girl who has broken bones 5 times by age 21 because she was on blockers without HRT. This is not a future I'd wish on anyone.
I've been on Estrogen since all my life 1979. I was born 1971. Androgen insensitivity syndrome. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Is there any way I can throw away these hormones without detrimental effects. I can't transition to male because of no testosterone rececpters.
The doctor i see mentions dvt from oestradiol hemihydrate, a previous doctor mentions high prolactin from Cyproterone, I've been taking everyday for ten years+ but they don't actually mention side effects as patients know more about it than they do which is totally awkward, every time i visit it's like the twilight zone, and seeing a female doctor is equally weird, i read the brochure way back then and I'm fully aware of the lactose content and side effects and they haven't gotten any different, and they insist on sti tests as well. Which i also don't quite get when you're 99% infertile.
Hello, I have been trying to find video clips on transgender women that arent on hrt of any kind, I am of age, 50+ years old. I have had bloods taken for a full check and everything has come back clear. I have a referral to see a gender clinic in my area. LoL, i am in Victoria Australia. Can You point me in the right direction to find video clips either from someone that has started at a late age or maybe you might have an idea as to how it may affect me ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Am nearly 70..have been on HRT for 18 months & live in Wollongong, NSW..Am also intersex.Am finding this video very helpful as all my estrogen levels were were fine for 12 months (500- 700) then dropped to 70, over the last 6 months( I have a condition called Adrenal Insensitive Syndrome- does throw big spanner...in works) Can say, one needs to find a sympathetic endoncronologist- preferably female.Mine is male, highly qualified & is no longer ticking the boxes.Options in Australia, for " gender affirmation care'- are limited- especially in the current political/ religious driven climate.Hang in there. If 💯 % certain, that this is how you wish- to spend your remaining years....the journey- is worth it.I had to pass all the gatekeeper assessments, was long process + all the other stuff( two years of weekly electrolysis treatments/ finding a good GP & Phycologist) + the inevitable backlash socially / online. Can say, my life much better now despite the obstacles, placed in my path.HRT..while it worked- such a blessing. Am on 100 mg patches & t- blocker only. Will look at & ask for progesterone- to be included@ my next appointment.Do hope my comments help.Sincerely Reikki Kyra Jonsun.
I've transitioned for three years with implants, gel and progesterone and results have been negligible. My levels have been very good but unfortunately very little feminisation. Seems like a waste of time.
Feel bad for you. You should've just not followed your delusions and now you're basically decaying. Wait until those implants need service and you'll regret your decisions forever.
I started HRT(patches with androcure) late 2011. I can only confirm that progression of results is much slower after 40.. I had to drastically lower my expectations...
two ways to look at it (q) trans feminine can be either (so it's the umbrella category... trans woman is someone with a binary identity as a woman, trans non binary is someone who feels aligned with aspects of both or no gender or in-between). The other way is that trans feminine refers more to gender , trans woman to both sex and gender, and trans nonbinary could also be both sex and gender. The terms overlap and can be interchangeable. and of course trans nonbinary (without specifying trans feminine or AMAB or mtf) can be going in an ftm (afab) direction.
If you don’t have the boy parts due to SRS or bilateral orchiectomy then you have to be on hormones or be at super high risk of osteoporosis as time progresses.
I take testosterone blocker for prostate cabcer. I want an estrogen patch to minimize side effects and to help feminize. Yes im a closet trans How can I at least get this estrogen without exposing myself.
No you cant. Spironolactone doesn't feminize. It just block testosterone. As your testosterone level are already in the women range it will do nothing. I know spironolactone is prescribe for acnee in women and for heart problems. And also you cant take estradiol because youre hormones levels are already in the normal range.
You need to consult with your physician. In most cases, blood work is required. Spironolactone is actually a mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist used to lower blood pressure as a diuretic. It's a generic to a medication called Aldactone.

Would you recommend using finasteride as a T Blocker for transition MTF, what are your thoughts?
Am on Anterone 50 as t- blocker for 18 months. Is good choice if have blood pressure issues xxxReikki Kyra Jonsun ❤
I'm on finasteride and it hasn't worked for me. See your doctor or endocrinologist.

Hi can you advise me I had srs surgery many years ago can I stop taking estrogen and what would happen could you please let me know
Well said ❤
I will die of whatever condition, before getting my oestrogen removed. It ha silenced the pain.
what about microdosing after age 45? Is this a safer option?

Doing this to perfectly healthy bodies does not meet any definition of 'care'.
You do not know what we are going thru.
Stop wasting these treatments on men
@JaneChristensen. TH-cam recommended this garbage to me because I’m a legitimate female going through actual menopause.
@JaneChristensen. save your energy for people you meet IRL. You aren’t gonna sway anyone online
😆😆😆
People do not do this to your bodies. Find better options
