    If the Quest 3S was an option last year when I bought my 15 year old son his first headset, I would have jumped at it. It hits that perfect sweet spot of functionality and affordability for a lot of people. Especially people just getting into VR.

    I totally agree, the standard strap on the Q3 is awful. I now have one that spread the load to the whole head and I can flip the Q3 up and down like a visor. Also I bought the new open face mask and no more fogging and sweating like hell..

      I really like that open face interface. I used it for about a month straight.
      My only issue was that it took from the immersion in certain games, and if you have a light overhead it can be distracting. But it breathes so much better.

    I went from a Rift S to a quest 3s, yeah maybe the 3 is better because of the lenses, but i don't use mine very often, and it's mostly plugged in when used, wether for pcVr, or just having it charging and not dying on me.
    For light users, this is a great option too, the price alone in Canada for a 3 is around the same for 256GB though, so for that, i do say the 3 is better, but i'm mostly pcvr, with a few games installed on the headset itself in case i bring it, and that's more than enough for me.

    You’re right. I would buy the Quest 3s for someone else as a gift but for myself I already have a Quest 3. Because the gift is just getting them into VR or upgrading from the Quest 2 I see this being the situation for a lot of people.

    I have to compare this to my experience buying an Electric Unicycle.
    I considered buying a cheaper model to learn on, then upgrading later, but then when I checked that logic, I realized that I was going to end up buying a higher-end wheel later *anyway,* so why waste money on a low-end wheel now, when I can just get the best wheel I can reasonably afford?
    VR is the same deal. It's an incredible experience, but it's also a major investment, and once you've gotten a taste you're going to want the high-end model anyway. So the question isn't whether you should buy a Quest 3 for $500 or a Quest 3S for $300, it's whether you should buy a Quest 3 for $500 or a Quest 3 for $800.
    Here's your buying guide:
    -If you don't mind that Facebook is going to sell all your personal information to anyone and everyone you don't like, buy a Quest 3.
    If you *aren't* willing to put up with Facebook being... Facebook, then you have 3 options.
    -If wireless connectivity and standalone capability matter to you, buy a Vive Focus Vision. (Ignore the bad reviews, most of them don't know what they're talking about, or are being intentionally dishonest. I have the headset, it's great. It could be better, but I'm also not willing to buy into the Facebook ecosystem.)
    -If an uncompromising VR experience is all you care about, and you don't mind having a tether, buy a Bigscreen Beyond.
    -If you already own a PS5, buy a PSVR2.

    Quest 3 is the one for me. If i can get better resolution and storage I’ll always spend the extra dollars.

    I’m curious, since Batman comes with the Quest 3S shouldn’t u splurge for the 256? (doesn’t Batman take up a lot of space and limit how many more games u can get?) And if u are gonna splurge for the 256 Quest 3S shouldn’t you just go ahead and get the Quest 3 for another $100? I guess if u are just gonna play Batman and a few other games the 126 Quest 3S is fine

    • @bringhurstvr
      @bringhurstvr  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Once you upgrade to the higher storage and get a second strap, yeah, you'd might as well get the Quest 3. But I've talked to a lot of people who care about those dollars, and if they can save $50 they will. Batman comes with it, but that still leaves 100GB free to install smaller titles, so I'm not sure the game alone will be the deciding factor.

    I just bought the Quest 3, better lents and being able to set up the exact IPD are important points for me. One question, when changing the strap, even if I am not interested in spending more than 2 hours in there, does it make sense pick up one with battery just for balance? Or it is good enough a proper strap without battery as I guess it is a bit lighter? Thank you. An amazing detailed video by the way.

    • @bringhurstvr
      @bringhurstvr  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks. The battery does help with balance, but if you get a halo strap then that balance is less necessary. The strap design preference will be different for different people, but I'd say it depends on some other factors.
      If you're not going with a halo design, then I'd go with the official Meta strap or the Kiwi Design. Both of those integrate with their own docks, they both have built in batteries, and they both allow for peripheral upgrades down the line.

    Quest 3S is more than enough. I have both 3 and 3S because I also have a son playing VR. Honestly.... I honestly think that 3 is sort of better, if you swap them fast trying to look for differences.... but certainly NOT 200$ better. At all. 3S is great. I just can't believe that they can sell this at such low price. Probably they try to get more people on the VR platform and they sell this at a loss

      @@talasattila6401 yep. I think they recoup a lot of that in software, but I don't imagine they're profiting much. In it for the long game.

    I will personally be going with a Pico 4 next year when I get my first PC. It costs the same as the 3s but the optics are better. I'm going to be playing pcvr in my smallish room for the most part anyway.

      @guerillagorilla4423 that's a good call, depending on your location. The pass through is terrible, but it's not something you'll use via PCVR.

    You don’t need to be a child to validate buying it. Adults have financial limitations as well. The resolution doesn’t bother me, it’s performance issues that do. I’m looking for the more powerful chip and processor. Coming from Quest 2 I have no regrets with mine.

    I'm hearing the phrase for children too many times related to the quest 3S as opposed to the quest 3 while the truth is, there are many thousands of children using the quest 3 as can easily be seen in any comment section comparing the 2 units. So please stop the madness. Neither headset is designed for or targeted at any specific age group.🤔

      @@marian8757 nobody said that. It's a cost to value consideration and it's just true that parents will spend less when they can, and someone who's never been in VR will appreciate the Quest 3S just fine. Madness it's not

      You literally said, if you have a twelve-year-old or 13-year-old kid, you'll probably be getting this headset. Plenty of parents will be getting the quest 3 for their children because their children don't want the 3S and many parents tend to ask their children what they want and get that for them.@bringhurstvr
