I got hung up on this statement too. I've been following this channel for a while now, for the very same reason, she's an artist to my eyes, an inspiration. Her aesthetics might not all be to my liking, but that's art, it's very subjective, very personal and it doesn't have to please everyone. Be proud of what you create, Johanna.
I don't know why, but when I think of art journals, I automatically think that I need to draw something and that usually stops me from creating sometimes.. thank you for sharing your art journal and for inspiring me to get messy and to just get creative. :)
I have the same problem and I get super frustrated with myself because I know I'm causing my own creative block. Lol I love this style of art journal and this video is helpful.

People should NEVER say what someone elses art should look like! It is totally unique to who you are. It would be like someone telling you how you should speak or look. Art is an artist signature and should be dictated by no one else!

Your pages are amazing! Thank you for pointing out that "art journaling isn't always about being an artist.....or creating beautiful art.....sometimes it's about expressing yourself and doing art without thinking, it's intuitive art." When you look at it like that, blank pages are so much more inviting to everyone. Love your work and listening to your design commentary.

I can't believe you don't think you are an artist! I wish I could randomly just pull together fantastic pages like that! It looks awesome and I think you should consider doing a children's book - the page with your son's quote is a good example of how you could do that. Great job.

I enjoyed this video. I definitely want to use your coloring book idea. I was cleaning out a bedroom to make it into a craft/art room and I threw a couple of old coloring books I found into a garage sale pile, but now I think I will just go get those out and use them in my collages! Thanks for the great idea!

One on making your own envelopes and attaching already made envelopes into journals without using tape.

I actually had tears in my eyes as you flipped through your journal for a few reasons. For one, it’s absolutely beautiful! Also because it’s so much work and you are so talented and I’m a little bit envious lol. And lastly because you poured your heart out on to those pages and I’m happy for you that you have such a creative spirit to be able to do that. It must be so therapeutic for you. Amazing stuff!

Johanna your drawing skills aren’t bad at all. I think you might be thinking you have to draw faces realistically or you might want to do that and feel if you don’t then is not good, and that is often what happens with young artists. You have a style that reflects your delicate and romantic side. Painters like Klimt would probably inspire you and hopefully bring out more your confidence as an artist. You inspire me. Right now Im making my art journal because I need to get back to drawing. Its long overdue.

Hello from your neighbour (kiwi here.) Love your journal! I discovered you while researching to try make my own sketchbook, and while I wont be doing what you do I admire how your journal has come out. It's such a special momento and I love your use of papers - so much so when I make my sketchbook I'm going to use different papers from scrapbooking, sketch paper and any other papers I can lay my hands on to draw on. Thank you for the inspiration.
I also found the use of the girlfriend magazine notebook a crack up - I had the same one! And I saved the pictures as well lol.

Sorry Johanna but I feel I must correct you, You ARE an "Artist"! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Art journals are a safe place for self expression and experimentation so I wouldn't worry about negative comments. I am sure you don't need anyone else to tell you what feels right. I love your very "Eclectic" style. (It's not random Hun, it's eclectic, lol). It's so fun and free and looks super duper tactile. I just want to hold it and run my hands over every page. Love it. 😊😘
