Honestly, I have a few thoughts on this, all of which come to the same conclusion - it's really not worth it. I know there will be people who will disagree with me...but, I have 5 points/options that, once understand, should help convince all but the "diehards" who have to have every Traxxas release. 1) You can purchase the standard RTR, be "wise" in your upgrade decisions (as many have pointed out, Traxxas went (purposely???) 'overboard' in selecting upgrade parts), and sell off the brand-new no-longer-needed parts. In the end, you'll have an RC that's better than their 'Ultimate', and the final cost will be closer to $100-200 more than the standard RTR. 2) You can purchase a roller from an RC chop shop, be "wise" in your upgrade decisions, and end up with the same vehicle mentioned in option #1, but with a final cost that's equal to, or possibly slightly less than, the standard RTR. 3) Taking option #2 one step further, you could sell off the brand-new no-longer-needed parts, and end up with a final cost that's definitely less than the standard RTR. 4) Part of why Traxxas is probably doing this...and, as already pointed out by others...is that Traxxas probably has a large number of unsold 'upgrade' parts in their warehouse, which is probably due to the fact that most 3rd-party upgrade parts cost less than Traxxas' own upgrade parts and/or those 3rd-party parts are of higher quality (such as 7075 vs Traxxas 6061). 5) The final point has to do with something many have suspecting for several months - that Traxxas is going to soon be releasing a new version of the X-MAXX, based on the XRT chassis. This is a good way for Traxxas to 'unload' their excess of X-MAXX vehicles and/or upgrade parts. If you think about it, this, combined with point #4, makes a lot of logical sense.
I'm glad you mentioned you mentioned there was no limited edition numbering. The only thing limited on this is the box. (Which I know people down the line will pay a premium for.)
@Constabruity lol, I like about 15 to 20 minutes away from 2 hobby shops. I'm not where near Texas but the local hobby shops take my money every weekend 😅
😂 I can't tell whether or not you're reviewing the vehicle or you're just going to do a walk-around while it sits at the store. However I'm just getting into the first two or three minutes of this video and I applaud that you're doing the ultimate version of this truck. Kudos sir.
Well I was thinking of Buying a Arrma Kraton EXB the 5th Scale but this Machine looks unbelievable! Also my first RC was a Rustler 4x4 with a bunch of upgrades… Traxxas makes this Hobby so much easier….
Traxxas upgrades are just Pepsi can shiny upgrades at best. A few tubers are already stating that parts are failing. I'll buy a regular xmaxx and buy the upgrades that are tried and true. I'm looking to buy the Aarmma big rock in white. Hopefully, they will release it soon.
Such a great looking and performing rc i would love to have one but I can't afford a xrt but its so amazing it is the ultimate rc car.love the videos and the build you do
Even the Arrmas have issues.. the new Spektrum electronics are apparently a little more prone to dying after jumps. Regardless yes, the XRT Ultimate is yes a little over the top. They do, yes, fix a lot of weak points on the stock XRT but the weight makes it prone to other stuff breaking. Nothing can truly be perfect, just get whatever you personally wanna get.
I wish they'd upped the motor size like Arrma did on their new 8S trucks. The new EXBs are pretty awesome. I still love the XRT though. I'm guessing you've seen a few Kevin Talbot videos, my point is that the stuff that most readily breaks on X trucks, like the drive shaft bending, doesn't look like it was addressed. Still a nice looking truck.
I like that you added typing noises as you scroll through a web page, I know you work in IT and you know that’s not how that works! Scrolling with the arrow keys?! Monster!
Your enthusiasm is awesome. You do a great job. Just wanted to say I live in Saginaw Michigan. The closest hobby shop is about 45 minutes away and there’s no indoor or outdoor tracks to go run a car anywhere. But I’ve been in the hobby Since 1984. This sucks. :-(
Dont remind me.... Family time during Christmas, full time job, running several businesses, and youtube... it can catch up to you really quick... hahaha
To each their own. But if you love the hobby and really love to "work" on your own stuff. Integy RC has a lot of very nice upgrades for the XRT as well as M2C racing for some of the chassis frame parts that Integy doesn't have. I think I figured around $700 plus the cost of the truck. This ultimate XRT is $1499?? And it doesn't have a 1/3 of the parts, what that $700 will get you to do the upgrades yourself. Happy Hobbying, folks 😎👌
Also, if one says its 1k of upgrades (which many are cosmetic and rven not performance upgrades, some r even downgrades, they just look good is all), forget to mention that those upgrades individiually is Already overpriced traxxas upgrades since aftermarket ones are cheaper Also the stock parts are missing if one preferred them so... not worth imo
Happy for you!! I’m debating between the xrt and the xrt ultimate. What do you recommend for me? I don’t care for aesthetics. I just like performance upgrades. Is the ultimate faster than the regular xrt? I saw a video where you are better upgrading yourself and it will be faster and better for the money. Is that true? This is my first rc and I don’t care for special edition or anything like that. But if the upgrades are worth it in your opinion, let me know.
What a beautiful neighborhood you have there I would love to have a house like yours but I'm too poor I got to live in a trailer at least I own it and the property
I bought a slash ultimate 4x4 from my buddy. It’s only about a month old. He used it a couple of times and decided to get the xrt ultimate limited edition. I took it out for the first time today and it’s slow. Only goes like 30mph. On the app I have it set at 100%. When he got we took it out and it was screaming, like 60 mph. Any ideas why it’s so slow. I feel like it’s a setting of some sort. Thanks
I got both of them and the wide max kit on the X maxx. Fully upgraded. What makes me wanna buy this other than the shelf queen because it’s probably gonna break sooner I’m at 6:48.
It's an easy to get an Xmaxx or XRT with pretty much all the upgrades you'd eventually get anyway! But I don't see them becoming collector's editions selling for more money. You already see fully hopped up Xmaxxes for sale with sellers trying to get their money's worth... but they don't.
No offense to any diehard Traxxas fans but these new Ultimate X-Maxx and XRT's have too much aluminum parts and they still have the same unreliable VXL-8s these trucks should have come with a rebranded or genuine Hobbywing Max 6 or MMX 8s Equivalent ESC for the price. I was once a Traxxas fanboy myself and that was all i bought until i bought my first Arrma which was an Outcast 8s EXB and Rlaarlo which was an AK-917 carbon which in my opinion are better for the money that they're competition. Although i love my current Traxxas vehicles i own but i think these "Ultimate" X-Trucks have wasted potential and are overpriced compared to either the Non "Ultimate" version or the new Arrma Kraton and Outcast 8s RTR EXB's. Sorry for the long tangent.
Why would people hold onto them and try to resale them if you can just buy the hop ups. There's nothing special about it. I could see if the hop ups were limited edition but they aren't. Or if they were some kind of special hop ups. I honestly don't really understand why it's limited edition to begin with. Only reason I can think of is the people at Traxxas probably figure not too many people are going to spend that kind of money on an rtr, on a regular basis to justify keeping it on the shelves. They wouldn't sell that many at that price, one of the great things about Traxxas is you can get into the hobby without spending a start up fortune. A $1500 car defeats the purpose. It goes against their market plan. It doesn't make good business sense to have something like that on the shelves for them long term I would think. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on one. If I was going to spend that kind of money I'd just go all out and build a race buggy or truggy. How is it a limited edition if everyone on TH-cam seems to have one. 🤔 There's nothing limited about it, it's a Traxxas marketing ploy.
Bro can you do a weight difference between regular xmaxx / xrt vs ultimate versions With and without the tires so people can stop saying its excessive unwanted weight lol cause its really not
Arrma is killing it with the new exb rtr’s coming up. Kraton 6S is €600. Exb rtr with updated elektronics and aluminium parts for €780… The Traxxas sledge is €800 bone stock…
Also, if one says its 1k of upgrades (which many are cosmetic and rven not performance upgrades, some r even downgrades, they just look good is all), forget to mention that those upgrades individiually is Already overpriced traxxas upgrades since aftermarket ones are cheaper, and its stock standard parts are missing, with these upgrades replacing rather than additional I would just get the standard
All im gonna say is Arrma and Traxxas have been awesome.. some more expensive then others.. but get what you like.. not everything is perfect.. and not every rc is for every rc enthusiast.. ive been dissapointed a few times.. and i know it can be super frustrating... i just complain a bit.. fix it and move on.. all part of the hobby.. i dont swear off the entire brand.. i feel like id just be missing out.. but just my opinion. And i feel like it sits best with me if i keep a positive attitude.. especially when you have the one off car that keeps giving you issues.. lol.. happy rc driving everyone..🤘🏼
I’d be shocked if it doesn’t stick around. They’re just doing a limited first run in case $1500 is just too much to move inventory

Totally agree 👍
i agree man
Unsold parts is speculation because none of us have actual information about that, but your first point is indisputable. This truck is just hype.
Thank you for expressing your thoughts in a classy professional way.... seriously.... all fair points
@@MarkSantaMaria yep
I'm glad you mentioned you mentioned there was no limited edition numbering. The only thing limited on this is the box. (Which I know people down the line will pay a premium for.)
Yessss!! I have a sledge and xmaxx. Need to sneak an XRT into the house.
Wish I could go to the Traxxas store for every new release 😅
You and me both 😂
No you don’t Traxxas customer service is horrible screw them idiots!
My wallet is thankful I live 3500 miles away from the Store and at least an hour away from a hobby shop.
@Constabruity lol, I like about 15 to 20 minutes away from 2 hobby shops. I'm not where near Texas but the local hobby shops take my money every weekend 😅
Dude your videos are awesome. Love watching the excitement and knowledge. Keep going man.
My Dream Car! I feel you Mark! Awesome!
Traxxas needs to have the ultimate addition with the rpm parts this would be awesome
Absolutely love these ultimate series vehicles from Traxxas. I have the slash, X max and XRT. I’d love to see them do a sledge.
I ordered an XRT ultimate to run on a track, not to bash…. So I’m building an off road track on my back property 👍🏾👍🏾
Traxxas got y'all's number with the limited edition 'yadda 'yadda lol... Their marketing team needs a raise
Hook,line, and sinker.
It sounds like you need a raise so you can afford a Traxxas. #clownshoehater
For this video i would put the light kit on it. I think could look sick with that house and xrt ultimate with light kit on :). Cheers🥳
YOU’ve got some beautiful homes in your neighborhood!
I want those dif covers and steering bellcrank in Orange. The TRX parts on this just looks awesome.
😂 I can't tell whether or not you're reviewing the vehicle or you're just going to do a walk-around while it sits at the store. However I'm just getting into the first two or three minutes of this video and I applaud that you're doing the ultimate version of this truck. Kudos sir.
The Limited edition should have came with a special Ultimate body. Much more collectible
Breh the thumbnail is epic
Awesome video love the new traxxas XRT Ultimate and traxxas X Maxx Ultimate Happy holiday and stay safe ✌️
Would prefer a Tekno E truggy setup on 6s with big tyres over a Traxxas
Well I was thinking of Buying a Arrma Kraton EXB the 5th Scale but this Machine looks unbelievable! Also my first RC was a Rustler 4x4 with a bunch of upgrades… Traxxas makes this Hobby so much easier….
Arrma puts out their Kraton with the additional better parts at the original price. Traxxas adds their parts and 30% additional price tag. 🤦
Screw Traxxas
Traxxas upgrades are just Pepsi can shiny upgrades at best. A few tubers are already stating that parts are failing. I'll buy a regular xmaxx and buy the upgrades that are tried and true. I'm looking to buy the Aarmma big rock in white. Hopefully, they will release it soon.
Arrma makes a better truck. The end.
Traxxes lost thir way arrma team associte losi deffentley ,heck even hpi.
I believe the hopped up one doesn't come with electronics whereas the regular one does.
I saw that yesterday and I was just in awe
It looks Awesome its in any Hobby you want the nice stuff your going to pay it’s not just RC it looks awesome have fun with it .
Such a great looking and performing rc i would love to have one but I can't afford a xrt but its so amazing it is the ultimate rc car.love the videos and the build you do
Do not buy this trash car. Get the arrma.
Even the Arrmas have issues.. the new Spektrum electronics are apparently a little more prone to dying after jumps.

Hard to choose between the XRT or XMAXX 🤨!
Would love to see you put that beast on the Indy RC track. Always great content!
I seriously thought about it but i got this video out super fast... didnt have the time :(
That XRT ULTIMATE rocks!!! and love the house decorations!!!
Thing looks insane
Haha... 911 emergency!! Nice opening! Laughed out loud!!
what a beauty ❤
I like that you added typing noises as you scroll through a web page, I know you work in IT and you know that’s not how that works! Scrolling with the arrow keys?! Monster!
Best XRT 👍😃
Definitely in the un-obtanium category!
Should have been numbered. Limited is almost nonsense when the edition size is hidden from the customer.
That’s how I read my Traxxas emails! 😂
Nice job my friend. Great video.👍🏼🔥💯
How long the traxxas can go? I really want build fpv rc car using traxxas. Should I use elrs?
Definitely on traxxas payroll 🤦🏾♂️
Ooh… She’s jealous. 😂😂😂

I figured. Still great content as usual. You Da man💪🏾
Did yours come with the faster gearing? My xrt ultimate did not.
Hello
How much does 1 piece of belted tire weigh?
Greate from Austria ✌️
only thing i recommand switch out the alu toe links back to plastic it will save your servo :)
Where you at in Texas? Did you go to the store in McKinney?
I hope they upgrade those weak differential ring & pinion ring gears ⚙️⚙️😮💨 im sick & tired of replacing diff ring gears💯
Is this equivalent to arrmas exb line up??
xrt takes out christmas ornaments at 65 mph !!!
To each their own.
But if you love the hobby and really love to "work" on your own stuff.

Nice truck... mark, happy holidays 2 u and family,, blessings 4life from TDee Hobbies RC lifestyle,, 🎉🎉🎉
Does the Ultimate Xmaxx have its regular esc or the Xrt esc?
Happy for you!!

where can i get the wheel knob for the controller

I can definitely see these NIB in a few years going for big money
I got both of them and the wide max kit on the X maxx. Fully upgraded. What makes me wanna buy this other than the shelf queen because it’s probably gonna break sooner I’m at 6:48.

They need to do a Traxxas max one
It's too expensive for my blood. I want an XMaxx but I'll just get the "regular" version in Solar Flare.
I get it...this is EXACTLY the way I feel about the Tekno NT 48 2.0!!!
Cool video nice car
Awesome!
I went by the Traxxas store the other day, tryna sell my E-revo as we speak to get some cash to get that XRT ultimate!
the parts aren't anything you can't get separately and upgrade yourself. So it won't be a big deal.
It’s got belted tires too.
Do you work for Traxxas?
Intro 😂😂😂😂
Hey that’s my car in the background! , I all ways see you at traxxas store 😭
Hey XRT ultimate is got harden steal gears now
Almost looks like a kraton
How do I get the Rc boxes
No offense to any diehard Traxxas fans but these new Ultimate X-Maxx and XRT's have too much aluminum parts and they still have the same unreliable VXL-8s these trucks should have come with a rebranded or genuine Hobbywing Max 6 or MMX 8s Equivalent ESC for the price. Nice rig but its not gona hold up to heavy bashing .
Agreed 👍
Well I know what's on my wish list lol! I guess it doesn't come in red, soooo I'll take the green please 😁
Nice 👍🏼
Bro can you do a weight difference between regular xmaxx / xrt vs ultimate versions With and without the tires so people can stop saying its excessive unwanted weight lol cause its really not
Ima get both of them. Ima spent $4,000.00 cash on the Xmaxx ultimate and XRT ultimate all green and black
OMG i want one. Wish my hobbie shop was open to call.
They didn’t upgrade the esc or motor that’s what needs the upgrade. Worthless upgrades for 500 bucks.
What's the Price?
Everything everyone is saying is so true! But still gotta get 1 of each! Keep it coming Mark! Rcbox club rocks..!
Basically its the old stock with upgraded parts...great strategy to clear the inventory
Arrma is killing it with the new exb rtr’s coming up. Kraton 6S is €600. Exb rtr with updated elektronics and aluminium parts for €780…
The Traxxas sledge is €800 bone stock…
@turbodutch yup..each with own marketing strategy...its a battle n im on the arrma"s side
Also, if one says its 1k of upgrades (which many are cosmetic and rven not performance upgrades, some r even downgrades, they just look good is all), forget to mention that those upgrades individiually is Already overpriced traxxas upgrades since aftermarket ones are cheaper, and its stock standard parts are missing, with these upgrades replacing rather than additional
I would just get the standard
Nice.
I'd love to win this somewhere, someday
traxxas proving that fools and their money are easily parted
What is the price Brother?🔥
My XRT is only 4 months old, I'm getting the xmaxx but not this one. I'll get the tires
I got the new Kreaton 6s with all the new hope ups and still the same price
NIIIIICE 👌🏻 With a NIIICE PRICE TAG 😁
Cool 😎
Well if they didnt have one in stock which I would of been surprised you could of ask to go back and make one up 😂
All im gonna say is Arrma and Traxxas have been awesome.. some more expensive then others.. but get what you like.. not everything is perfect.. and not every rc is for every rc enthusiast.. ive been dissapointed a few times.. and i know it can be super frustrating... i just complain a bit.. fix it and move on.. all part of the hobby.. i dont swear off the entire brand.. i feel like id just be missing out.. but just my opinion. And i feel like it sits best with me if i keep a positive attitude.. especially when you have the one off car that keeps giving you issues.. lol.. happy rc driving everyone..🤘🏼
*only person keeping traxxas in business 😂*
ARRMA TRUCKS SSUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKSSSSSS.
Is they would’ve done this at first and put the price at $1399 this would’ve been a game Changer and sale would’ve sky rocketed
