My version could’ve been that Alejandro was raised in Las Alma’s town and that his friends ended up being involved in the drug cartel life itself and that he joined the military and considering the Mexican military was so corrupt due to the cartels buying power that he joined Los vaqueros special forces team; an uncorrupt military special forces team that he joined and was more capable in. His obsession in ridding Las Alma’s of the cartels had him feel alienated around his team. And of course he remembered the legend of old Ghost who rid of the legendary boss Manuel who had influence among the us army soldiers operating in Mexico. Even had ghosts family killed as a message to not screw with him and the cartel. Old ghost killed Manuel. And the old sin Nombre took the boss role after Manuel was killed. Ironically even special forces had a few bad apples. And Valeria, a former comrade and possibly lover took over the cartel as the new boss. Became the new Sin Nombre because apparently the cartel has become more of a deterrent rather than a criminal organization and of course Valeria would do almost anything for deterrency and turn on Vaqueros. And Alejandro try to stay sane and incorruptible. But his second hand man, Rudolfo wouldn’t be and the plot twist could’ve been that he was connected to Raul Menendez. And of course he was associated with the old cartel boss Manuel and like him wants revenge against the USA and west. And had a long game plan. And of course sees shadow company as an opportunity and shepherd in wanting to militarize the USA into greatness again and of course trick shepherd into turning the war on drugs towards against Mexico of course. And using AQ and Hassan of Quds Force of Iran. And Weaponizing Hassan into joining his revenge plan. Manuel used mk ultra to brainwashing us soldiers into becoming sleeper agents and rudolfo kidnaps Graves into doing his bidding and causing chaos whatever it done. And Alejandro wasn’t aware of Rudolfo doing dirty things behind the vaqueros team back. And also he had connections with Khalid Al Assad, russian ultranationalists apparently led by a clone being of the infamous late Makarov and a brainwash defected Gabriel Rourke who sided with the Federation from ghosts of course and would get shepherd on board to prevent a rising federation from taking over North America. Saying that the drug cartels would back the federation and would threaten American security near the southern border. When in reality, Las Alma’s cartel are only caring of the drug trafficking business and not politics unless only in the cartels interest. All these things would set precedent into the plot of modern warfare ii. Rudolfo wanted the chaos to happen and no one. Not even task force 141 suspected that he was also responsible for almost everything in the events of the games campaign. He messaged graves and the Russian PMCs into letting the Russians take the missiles and give them to the Iranian quds forces as a facade cover up that Laswell would only found out but not found out the bigger plot itself. And the fact that graves and shadow company turning on task force 141 would be an obvious clique event but what could’ve been a major plot twist is that Rudolfo was taking over the cartel and vaqueros and has shadow company in his pockets all this time and allow them to takeover the headquarters. And this event would have Alejandro heartbroken as he trusted Rudolfo as a brother after Valeria nearly broke him due to her betrayal and of course his life becomes nothing and no will to live he gets shot in the head. And Laswell and Task Force 141 sees Alejandro dead and Valeria would be shocked that vaqueros turn on Alejandro and sees that his will in being the soldier in Mexico was stronger than she realizes and feels guilty about his death and gathers the remaining vaqueros and some loyal Alma’s cartel members of hers to side with TF 141 in avenging Alejandro despite the cartel loathing TF and vaqueros and Vice versa but the new Ghost convinces the parties to stop the fighting and sees that the actions of old ghost was what made Rudolfo joined the network of Raul Menendez and Weaponizing almost everything from shadow company to AQ, the federation and even corrupting shepherd into a new war that he could lead as a hero. And decides to turn himself in to Rudolfo to save the remaining innocents of Las Alma’s from being massacred. And task force 141 and rest of Mexican vaqueros and cartels join sides with them and forms the ghosts team to rescue ghost and take back Las Alma’s from Rudolfo grip. And save Alejandro’s town from being a worse war zone then it could become. And Rudolfo escapes into Chicago and sides with Hassan and wants to launch an American missile into DC and would blame it towards Mexican cartels and terrorists and so can make shepherd lead a new branch of army soldiers into Mexico. But they prevent turning Mexico into an actual war zone by destroying the missile and killing Rudolfo and Hassan in the skyscraper owned by Alma’s. But Rudolfo had some spies in creating media pieces in blaming the attacks to the USA and stir further divide with the locals and had some federation sympathizer numbers growing and so he has done a backup plan in case he faces death quicker than expected. Valeria mourns for Alejandro and Task Force has to let go of Valeria due to the disbandment of vaqueros and has Las Alma’s to be seriously protected by the cartel and Valeria has to lead the cartel into being a serious protection organization and not just a drug business empire of Las Alma’s. Valeria does have a crush on Soap but Ghost has a crush on Soap and convinces that he dates British girls only. Apparently seeing that ghost has a closeted crush on Soap. And task force and Laswell drink at a bar in honor of alejandro.

I used to think Laswell will be like Hudson, however after playing the campaign for the 2 reboot MWs I thought Laswell has a strict mandate of authority but is willing to compromise behind the back for the squad, not like Hudson who is really an asshole when it came to handling plausible deniability.

I think the reason why they didn't tell the players in a ''in-your-face'' like way, is because alot of people didn't reacted all to well or even in an extremely negative way in the past when in previous games it was confirmed that a character was gay or lesbian, like in Overwatch as an example. So I guess to prevent hatred against LGBTQ again they decided to hide it in a small dialogue in one mission.

I think the reason why they didn't tell the players in a ''in-your-face'' like way, is because alot of people didn't reacted all to well or even in an extremely negative way in the past when in previous games it was confirmed that a character was gay or lesbian, like in Overwatch as an example. So I guess to prevent hatred against LGBTQ again they decided to hide it in a small dialogue in one mission.
