The word u r actually talking was coined after 1954 to weaken mithila and maithili...go to the language census of 1961 u didn't get any angika bajjika only Maithili... Bajjika is western Maithili which is a dialects of maithiili for more details you can study the linguistic survey of George Grierson in 1905
Bajji and Ang mahajanpadas which were the part of mithila region same as kashi and malla of Bhojpuri speaking area and the bhojpuri speaking of Ara, Chhapra and varansi kushinagar is lil different same as the Maithili speaking of Darbhanga Madhubani is lil different to Muzaffarpur Vaishali...Hindi can also be spoken as so many ways like the hindi spoken in rajsthan , Delhi is lil different from bihar jharkhand it doesn't means ki dono alag alag language h kisi bhi language ko ham alag alag tariko se bol sakte h boli or Bhasha me fark hota h...hope u understand it
