    My first lunar orbit in my current RP-1 game was RD-108 (plus 4 Castor-1 boosters) > RD-0105 > RD-0105 and then four small separation motors for capture. Squeezed onto a 100 ton pad for cheapness and locking the third stage avionics’ battery let it complete lunar impactor contracts for cheesiness.

      Thats pretty similar to this then! slightly lighter actually as this was 103t Doing these tutorials this week I'm actually learning a bit myself about how to do these early-ish contracts efficiently, and I'll be taking some of this new found knowledge into FaK :P
      (currently working on maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe squeezing an interplanetary mission in my second episode, its gonna be tight but I think I might just be able to do it)

    It's so simple yet so perfect. Really makes me see that I've overengineered my own missions.

    Thanks for the tutorials rss boy :D
    They pushed me out of the LEO all the way to mars&venus getting me more science than my IQ

    Going for a polar orbit (capture burn pointing radially to the Earth-Sun plane) would allow the solar panels to always be at maximum exposure, so you could transmit/run science for more time.

    Thank you for making those tutorial videos, I had a problem with making a two-stage launcher to orbit and a probe to moon, still I'm pretty sure that because of updates to mods certain parts and engines differ, but the template for the rocket thankfully worked. Also, this mission really taught me that I need to always simulate different parts of the mission to see if everything is working, since so many things can just go wrong in this mod. Damn, still good job at making it pretty easy to understand, also i never could've guessed that MechJeb is capable of making orbits and maneuvers on it's own, now I won't be wasting time for that. Again thanks.

    Pioneer-1 was supposed to orbit the moon launched by a Thor-Able, isn't this Titan-I like a bit overpowered?
    Always a pleasure to see your tutorials anyway!

    • @Carnasa
      @Carnasa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably could make this a bit smaller, I'd need to play around with it though to figure out how! I've got an idea but not sure if It would still be able to fit on a Thor Able as that could barely take my impactor from before, but that's what testing is for! and Thanks! :D

    I think i might try to squeeze a Lunar orbit out of a delta.

    I did it with a atlas agena because i didnt want to tool a titan (yet) and also atlas agena is just so good but titan works really good too

    • @Carnasa
      @Carnasa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tbh the only reason why I did titan for this is because I used atlas for every other video and wanted a bit of a change :P Atlas is soooo good early game :D

    Moon Q, but not first orbit... I have a Lunar Gateway in LLO. How do I time my exit from LEO (supplies tug) to match planes with the Lunar Gateway? Otherwise, Im at the moon and our planes are 8

    Have you considered unguided TLI with a braking motor mounted in front of the probe?

    • @Carnasa
      @Carnasa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Might work actually, depending on whether the spacecraft is positioned in the right place for both (which I think it should be? Need to test this) could probably make a really cheap/light lunar orbiter this way :p but it’d also be hell to fly haha

    following your design but always a few hundred dv short of orbit. Mine is costing me 37k not 5k haha. cannot work it out

    • @Carnasa
      @Carnasa  ปีที่แล้ว

      couple things I can think of here, are you tooling the parts used? that should really decrease the cost! secondly, are you using the correct tank types? That can drastically change the amount of delta V you get out of this! Hope this helps, if not feel free to ask again :D

    I have never tried spin stabilized lunar orbiter, sounds like a hassle
    one problem with this though: my lunar perigee changes quite a bit when I timewarp up from earth, so I usually have to realign my perigee with rcs
    ps: is it called perigee for the moon?

    • @Carnasa
      @Carnasa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Preilune I think, or there’s several different names like Perisene as well? Can’t remember off the top of my head. If you turn off rcs before warping to the moon, it shouldn’t jump around though! At least that’s what I’ve encountered :)
