I had the immense pleasure of attending one Wallis Day at Ken’s home and being able to hear him talk during the tour of his collection in his workshop. What a wonderful man!
Ken was an old mate of mine. He was not only a engineering genius , but the. nicest man you could meet. He made time for everyone. I miss him every day.
Amazing story, amazing man! His deameanor reminds me of the great actor Richard Harris, the same spirit of never quit and get it done! A truly great pilot and man!
Ken Wallis came to little snoring flying club for an evening a while ago and he gave us about four hours of fantastically interesting and entertaining evening. Happy days
He lived at Reymerston Hall in Norfolk. My late brother lived just round the corner and Ken Wallis Autogyros were in a shed and he flew them off a little grass strip in what you might call his garden. I suppose I last saw him fly there in about 1990.
I appreciate your memories Tim he was a special character and very talented. Please have a subscribe my new upload on Sunday features Ken Wallis talking about flying the B-36.
I remember back in the day hearing Ken Wallis buzzing about in Little Nellie at the RAF Finningley airshow. I say *hear* because there was thick fog that day and Ken's was the only aircraft to fly, but I still couldn't see him (lol).
Looking forward to seeing this. I've got a dvd about his life's work and being 53 and interested in aviationI obviously grew up idolising Little Nelly from You Only Live Twice.

I've just found you after seeing something on a Facebook group. Looking forward to watching your stuff. I love ww2 aviaton and can usually be found either at graves of ww2 veterans, at Petwood hotel or strolling around abandoned ww2 airfields
Hello Chris . That was every bit as interesting as l thought it would be , what a terrific fellow . I was wracking my brains as to who the commentators were . I think the first was Anthony Quayle and the second John Peel . Thanks Chris .
It's a Franklin 2A-120-B of 60 HP, not a Continental engine. KW modified them and used them on several of his record breaking autogyros, much as he modified many of the other aero, target drone and car engines that he used.
@@atacamaltd Thanks for doing that for me James, now the hunt is on here in the US to find one. One of these old engines would be ideal for my Pitbull, the Subaru does great but the sound doesn't fit the look & it's already swinging a 65" prop at 2400 on a psru. If anybody out there in TH-camLand knows of one or even parts, it'll get a good home back in the sky where it belongs! Fly slow & drive fast.

Great tribute video. I have a Pitbull gyro with a Subaru, can anybody tell me what this twin cylinder Continental engine is at 11:26 ?
Thanks NZ I will look into the continental engine, please subscribe. Chris.
The engine could be WA-117 Venom
Variant powered by a 100 hp (75 kW) Rolls-Royce Continental O-200-B engine
@@GULLPERCHFLYER I am subscribed. The O-200 is a 4 cylinder.

How amazing - a lovely tribute (Was that the late John Peal in there as well?) Very interesting - are these still popular & legal?
Thanks Small wonda , gyros have advanced and are very popular, we have one in our hangar, it's a cavalon. Chris
It needs a four cycle motor (engine) to lower noise and emissions
