These types of lenses make it hard to go to any other system. The Sony ecosystem is so built out now it's crazy.
Sony is in business of maintaining that camera dominance, other brands ahem Panasonic might have caught up with Sony in their AF, low light and color science but Sony still hold its own dominance they excel in both photography and video. Plus they develop the best lenses now, that's why I keep my loyalties with Sony I know they'll keep getting better and dominating. But hey they haven't really dominated completely yet, everywhere I go in my travels I still see these entry level canon and nikon DSLR that people still use and very few Sony.
Their lack of firmware updates for the allegedly flagship a1 makes it pretty easy to look elsewhere, though. Among many other shortcomings on the software side, they are quickly losing me and I’m not alone in feelings this way
Damn that looks really goo. Would be fire if we could see a similar focal range zoom lens being announced soon for apsc as well. I really like the idea of combining an wide angle zoom lens with a standard zoom lens, while sacrificing aperture and a bit of the lower zoom end range!

Fajne szkiełko. Tak pomyślałem trochę i tutaj to, że jest F4 totalnie nie ma znaczenia, i tak obrazek da się uzyskać bardzo dobry, fx3 wymiata. 2mpx czyli video 1080p na domknietej przysłonie wygląda jak 20mpx z dobrego smartphona i jak najbardziej jest to komplement. Oczywiście pisze tylko o statycznych zdjęciach architektury 🙃

@@AndreasPinkert the power zoom is kind of useless with sony cameras except the zv10 and the 30.. no control over the zoom speed from within the camera.. so it’s better to buy normal zooms or w/o the pz. I bought it and replaced to a prime lens instead. No zolly options.. sad

@@Dmitriev_Vitaliy I disagree. This lens is great for what it’s marketed for and this paves the way for zoom lenses with wider focal lengths in the future. This is an everyday lens so if your shooting during the day this lens is a amazing choice.
Zero interest in this specific lens- but man am I glad Sony making these things. (I am a prime shooter). Would like something more similar to a 28-70F2 like canon has though. That would be a game changer for my wedding work.

Interesting… I’ve seen wedding photographers use 2.8 lenses at F4 to F5.6. Unless your specifically talking about lowlight

I agree. At least F2.8 would make it a head turner. I own a Sony Zeiss 24-70mm F4 and I couldn't justify paying $1,600 (rumored price) for this already owning that lens. If you don't own a 24-70mm or are using a kit lens, this might be an option but I think it's gonna take more than 4mm extra and a 'G' to make someone pull the trigger.

Harsh words. Between 2.8 and 4.0 is one stop (1). I cannot see how anything that can be done with a 2.8 zoom absolutely cannot be done with a 4.0 zoom. We are in ISO16000 times today... But I remember the manual + film area, so maybe I am used to more pain 🙂
@@AndreasPinkert Maybe this would come down to trail and error. I have the experience that shooting moving object in darker environments is tough many photos become blurry even with iso above 10k. So going from 2.8 to 4 would be a hard choice to take. The step from 1.4 prime to 2.8 zoom was a huge difference.
@@AndreasPinkert This is a very small zoom lens (about 450g) and in the future we might see a 2070 f2.8 with ~800g (same as 2470GM)
@@richrollin4867 stopped down but longer focal length >> shallow depth of field. With 2.8 70mm you have some of it. But f4? No option.
@@richrollin4867 Sure they can use the entire range of apertures. although they mostly go for like T2.8 or similar. And you compare two complete different situations here. Even if they step it down, they shooting of camera equipment that cost like 100k € in a totally controlled environment with light setup and lots of prep time. A single shot might cost tens of thousands of Euros just for a short sequence. And yes that might work on high level gear with a dedicated post processing workflow. But I just have a A7C which doesn't have the best possible sensor. I don't have my own lighting department always with me and I can't dial in shots. I just need to take our the camera point it at something go take a shot that will only happen once in my lifetime. And even on 2.8 i screwed up so many shots because the camera on semi auto couldn't dial in the proper setttings fast enough. Because the moment you try to lock on the target you have max 1-2 seconds before its all over. And this bothers me a lot. For me i only shoot family fotos with fast moving kids. And in this kind of setup I would need a way way faster camera and a pretty fast autofocus. So i won't consider going f4 a good option.
