- An ocean view balcony on most ships is called a Sea Terrace on Virgin Voyages. There are different types of Sea Terraces stateroom 14326A is a Sea Terrace XL located on the 14th floor forward by the bridge.
Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady rooms are VERY different than a traditional cruise ship's staterooms. They designed them this way intentionally and if you are a seasoned cruiser, you should prepare yourself for exactly that.

If you want it converted to the couch (which is actually a twin bed and a couch), you need to let them know. You can talk to your host or put the request on the app. The drawer thing on the floor that you said you didn't know what it was is where half of the couch is (on top of the drawer). In addition to the drawers, our room also had some fabric sort of basket things that acted as shelved in the closet. And we could fit our suitcases under the bed so they didn't take closet space. They don't "count" your cleanings as such. You get one full cleaning per day, but there is a stateroom person on call thru the afternoon and evening to meet any additional needs--you can put them in on the app, the tablet, or phone Sailor Services to get what you need.

We stayed in that exact same room in December, nice to see the updates they have made especially the drawers in the closet!

The bathroom was REALLY nice. Not sure it is worth the cost difference for one person but if you are traveling with someone, it very well might be! And that shower! Loved the water pressure!
The sea terrace view is lovely. I think I’d always prefer to have a view of the ocean. You’re right though, they need new seats both on the sea terrace, and by the desk! I’m surprised I didn’t see more bubbly accents, like an armrest chair with a fun color, or big pillows. It all seems designed to be just comfortable enough to chill for a few minutes, then head out of the room and go do something on the ship. It makes sense, but any “hotel” experience should come with an all-around comfortable room imo. I imagine that if the cruise is especially crowded, many people would appreciate having that one comfy space to themselves, with a view! 🏝 hope you enjoyed the rest of the cruise!
It is always a trade off. Do I get a cheaper room and go on more cruises or go on less cruises but enjoy the view more? And you are absolutely right they could have done a lot more creatively with this room!
I love having the bath area all to myself.
Yeah, I do prefer a larger singular room versus it split up like this. They still pulled it off but it felt cramped, even though it wasn't.

Great room tour! I really liked the Scarlet Lady's cabins, but really only for one person. I couldn't see sharing that cabin with another person!

haha nothing special on the teeth. I just brush, floss them and get cleaned regularly. With the channel, tempted to try and whiten them up a little bit. They show I am a coffee drinker 😱

How is the ship for smoothness and steadiness compared to Royal?
I am always impressed with the smoothness and stability especially on the larger Royal ships.
Did one Princess cruise and it was like being on a sailboat, it would catch the wind and shake and shudder. It has made me sheepish on Princess. I have done 61 cruises on a large variety of lines. Royal is also my preferred line. Am from Broward County. Doing our first Holland on the Nieuw Statendam just after Thanksgiving. Enjoy your channel. All the best!

Agree on where the TV is placed...not good as there is not enough space.
Nice but I think there are more positives I feel on Royal ships and especially there newer ships than what I've seen in your blog for Virgin.The only thing I see that would be an improvement for Royal would be to add the rain shower feature to future ships.
Yeah, the "modern" stateroom design will not do them many favors for most folks. I would love the addition of the rain shower at RCL too. That was my favorite part!
I'm always weary of going on a cruise because me and my partner both need to use CPAP machines, which cannot plug into USP ports (electrical outlets only). VV appears to be the ONLY ship with an electrical plug on BOTH sides of the bed! Something for us to think about, even if we aren't the Party Animals that we used to be as we're older (and wiser) now!
Hey Steven, yes this is the most requested item on a ship and you are not alone in the cruising world needing CPAP machines. On Royal, you have to do a special request for an extension cord and for the distilled water. Definitely a haste if you can just walk onto another ship and everything work correctly.
Was it a quiet cabin? How about motion?
It was a quite cabin! For motion, I would say all but 2 cruises I have ever been on could you feel it. If trying to minimize motion, middle and lower part of the ship will always be preferred.
Can you request a lounge chair on the balcony? If the hammock seats one, my partner has no where to relax....

Hey Jay! I have several yeas ago! She did a random 4 night sailing to Bermuda and stayed there for literally 6 hours before coming back. Doing Odyssey in November, which will be a similar comparisson.

@@TheWeekendCruiser kitty corner to the foot of the bed is a cornice that goes to the floor. As you move by you drag the curtains open distracting you from remembering you are going to bang your knee on the cornice that sticks out that contains the draperies when open! There is no way to move the bed because the night shelves are attached to the wall on each side of the bed!
On an a.most positive note the rooms had the really thick mattresses that were more common on the top floors. The problem? They didn’t give the room stewards the sheets to fit them! And yes, it did get written up on review that that was extremely unfair to the room steward who was already working really hard.
Do you feel much motion at the front?
This ship was EXTREMELLY smooth and I never felt us moving even once. Not sure if it has a better stabilizer being new or if the water was just that calm.

hahaha they sound more fancy than they are. Fiber, creating, whey protein, and post-gym workout powder. Having those in the room on display, reminds me to not over do it.

There are some different things in this room that are not functional....that very low table by the bed, the chair with the pad, etc.
They were definitely not ideal. I have no idea who uses a drawer on the floor. 😂
The drawer on the floor is for bedding when bed is in sofa configuration

Yikes! Not sure I like that cabin very much. Too industrial looking and that chair in the cabin looks uncomfortable. Are they all like this? BTW, is the bed two twins pushed together?
The bed is actually a large singular pull out that you can request your stateroom attendants convert to a couch. I do not recommend the chairs.
