      Very cool. I hope you like the machine as much as I do. I sold most of my equipment recently, but I couldn’t sell this machine.
      Also, I am not the originator of this idea (I have no idea who is) but I don’t think anyone has made a video about it.

    This is a really innovative solution. I had given up on these types of machines and was preparing to buy a commercial leg extension and leg curl machine so that I would have consistent resistance throughout the movement. Also I have the Titan rear delt pec fly machine version 2. The range of motion is better with the extra hole.
      The problem is that it is too easy. Could you please make a video of Titan pec fly machine with a hack to correct the lack of resistance.
      Do you think the pec fly on this machine is better than doing the pec fly with functional trainer?

      @@gregoryanderson7103 as for the pec fly, you could always add small bands. Around the base and over the horns. I like both…I like the stability the machine provides and functional trainers are always good.

    Excellent back. For the Hypertrophy nerds out there, this also makes the exercise more lengthened overload. A lot of data showing lengthened exercises to be more beneficial for Hypertrophy. If a selectorized unit felt like it was 10 out of 10 in terms of smoothness of the resistance curve, and the original titan machine was a 5 out of 10 (half of the curve being good), how close does this hack move the titan towards a 10 out of 10? Do you lose any resistance near the contracted position of the leg curl due to the plate being almost vertical? I really want a seated leg curl but hate the idea of needing a selectorized unit for one freaking exercise. Thanks again!

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the leg curl, if I lower the starting position of the ankle pad slightly the plate doesn’t go as high, therefore, the resistance doesn’t drop off and nothing is really lost in the beginning of the exercise. Another option is to just use a 25 pound plate instead of a 35.
      Maybe an 8 out of 10. Hopefully, some other people will chime in with their thoughts. I can’t see myself buying a selectorized machine now that this works as good as it does, but by no means, can it compete with a multi-thousand dollar Cybex, Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, etc.
      Plus, I don’t want a selectorized machine on my second story and space in the garage is at a premium which I can’t give to a selectorized Leg Ext / Curl machine.

      @@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks, that is what I was looking for. If it's an 8 out 10 and its 15% of the price for a 10 out of 10 that's a pretty good deal to me. Does the machine have any stability problems at higher weights? I doubt I would ever go much over 200lbs. Thanks!

      @@jeffwalker1830 as long as the back post is weighed down, it should be good. I mean, I hear the metal creaking a little at heavier weights, but I have 0 stability concerns and in the unlikely event anything breaks, I’m sure Titan will take care of it.

      In regards to the resistance curve of the leg curl, you actually want the resistance to lessen as the muscle shortens. A muscle is at its weakest when contracted (shortened), so having the resistance curve of the machine lessen at peak contraction is actually ideal and will allow you to train the full ROM without bottlenecking the exercise (since the resistance curve of the machine better matches the strength curve of the muscle). The heaviest part of the exercise should be when the muscle is near lengthened since that is where a muscle is the strongest. So for leg curls, this hack inadvertently makes this machine much more efficient. Check out prime fitness plate loaded machines, you'll see that they offer different loading options for this exact reason.

      @@ernie0753 the problem is there is no resistance for the first 1/4 to even 1/2 of the movement with the Titan unless this hack is used. Also, Prime is awesome, but I just can’t see spending 4,500 for their combo machine + shipping when I got the Titan for 500.

    With the stopped pin in now you can't switch betwen workouts easily now. Any fix for this?

      That’s the trade off. I haven’t found a way to switch quickly and still use this hack, but I would rather use this hack than switch quickly between exercises.

    how did Titan not figure this out?

    How do you get the bottom pad to stop moving? Mine rides up my shins when using it

    • @HomeGymHacksandReviews
      @HomeGymHacksandReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      The pad is supposed to roll and it will move along the shin some. However, if it’s traveling too high, you may need to adjust your seat settings. Make sure your knee lines up with the axis of rotation.
