@@CharlesDamianoBLChey CD I spoke with you quite a few mths ago probably last summer Im just seeing your channel again I live in bklyn but grew up in Manhattan. I wish ppl would recognize the genius and in Bruce and a true definition of master which doesn't mean he beats every one but that he's on a non stop journey to find the best way to express his personal self in combat, economy of motion, absorbing what is useful and discarding what useless, the psychological ideas of adaptability but when he calls jeet June do "THE ART OF THE INTERCEPTING FIST" they keep referring to that as coming from wing Chun but I'm 90 percent sure that that is in fact an idea from his application of the various timing and rhythm strategies of fencing, with their cadences the straight forward lunge they do in fencing became one of Bruce major weapons such as the straight blast and also a punch that Jack Dempsey used of course boxing strategies also I really don't like the referral to wing Chun because really Bruce drop out of traditional wing Chun officially very early but his brain and mind understood the core of wing Chun and it's concept of simultaneous offence and defense but fencing strategy is higher its about acquiring the ability and intuition to sense the opponents intention and just when the person is launching his attack Bruce beats him to of course in order to have this kind of timing you would have to develop fine tuned explosiveness you see examples of this when he intercepts the kick of the Korean guy in way of the dragon when the guys kick has already left the ground but Bruce's kick comes out of nowhere like a bullet they also never mention his portable EMG machine which he used to tweak his nerves a freind of mine has one who the hell would think of a portable nerve conduction to tweak nerves in order to assist fast twitch muscles combine that with some of his power and Olympic weight lifting exercise to build power explosiveness and speed many ppl can be fast or quick yet not explosive jack Dempsey had a straight left jab that was a jab yet the way the jab was altered Jack jempsey could not ppl out with the straight jab with the lead hand and Bruce applied that to his right lead hand. I read a book Danny inosanto put out and Bruce altered and modified some wing Chun Bruce did trapping from his side stance from the boxing stance position and not standing straight in front of the opponent and protecting the center line Bruce didn't like that stance anyway so Bruce was not a wing Chun student he altered and modified according to his idea of effective combat and discarded many other things of wing Chun just like he wasn't a boxer but utilized and fit into his abilities boxing techniques and ideas and strategies he also took up kinesiology and we are talking about a Chinese dude coming up with this from the 1960s there's no forerunner to how he put all this together using what he learned about body mechanics from kinesiology let's not forget the knowledge of how isometrics can help with explosive ness from certain ranges not many people today know that isometrics as an exercise even exist

Wow! What a revealing interview. I know that ted Wong's right to teach JKD was criticized by some, because he received his JKD ranks in private, but what Mister Torres reveals in this interview turns things upside down. I always felt, when watching Ted Wong giving instructions on a video, that he moved much in a way that I envisioned Bruce's JKD in his later years. This perception I got from my own reading of Bruce's writings and from my little training in JKD. Likewise, I took just a little over a year under a Sifu Dan Inosanto school lineage in Montreal. I already had much martial arts background, so this little time training was absorbed three time as fast a beginner. Yet, I still had some things to learn. But what I brought back was really added a tool to my bag of tricks, like Sifu Inosanto's says in his seminars about learning from different systems.
François, certainly a great interview. Glad you found it informative. I studied with Ted Wong and I always thought he moved like Bruce Lee, and had incredible speed with his punches and kicks! Sound like got some great pointers from Dan! Have a great weekend!
Great and very informative information again in this episode. Love when you went and got the "No dogs or Chinese" sign. I met a guy who was born in Hong Kong while I was doing Tai Chi. Fist of Fury was his favourite film and he told me he had personally seen the sign outside the park.😁🙏🐉
Another great informative episode fellas, thank you! If I may respectfully add a slight correction as I know you guys like to have and distribute accurate information. I was able to ascertain this bit of info without delving into my collection (which I won't have time to do in the foreseeable future), which is complete. The very first Bruce Lee JKD Club BP series magazine has the earliest copyright year I could find as 1976. Most subsequent issues have the copyright year as 1977 and some have 1978. To add to the confusion of when they were released here in the states is the fact that all of that series, and most all of the issues in the other two series (BM and BPS), are advertised on the back cover of the 1976 issue. It could be because the particular issue I referenced was not the 1st printing, but I doubt it because I believe that's how I remember it back in the day. What I know for sure is that my 1st collection set was stolen from me around late '78 - early '79. It took me quite some time to obtain it, so I believe I started collecting them in '77. The finger flip motion books (which I had), stickers (which I have all but one) and any other accessories that they put out (I heard mention of some patches) were advertised along with the magazine series, usually on the back cover if memory serves me correctly. But one thing's for sure and two things are certain, they were available in NYC before the '80's my Bruce Lee Brothers.🙏 Looking forward to the next episode, keep up the great work and enjoy your strongend guys! ✌️😎👍 🐉🐅🌊🐲☯️👣

I was 11 in 1977. After seeing ETD at the mall theater. I bought at school book buy program Dynamite with ETD poster. I freaked out.. I started getting some paperbacks cause i was fascinated with Bruce. I bought Linda's paperback cause my friend had it and I was jealous. I bought one Bruce Lee photo paperback I looked at it so much my thumbprint faded the cover. I think it was a yellow paperback with ETD sticks photo in the center, i took it everywhere. A year later in the mall I found a Bruce Lee photo book 8x10 size at Barnes and Nobel and was collecting Kung Fu monthly's from the local drug store every month. I ordered the back issues at the time. I had most up to 30 ish? I ordered some books from overseas i remember. The one looks familiar with Fists of Fury Club book cover and the Revenge one. I also had a GOD one. It was the first time i saw the casket photo in one that freaked me out. I saw GOD death in the theater so I may seen it there first. One book had photos of him hooked up with electrodes, but I think it was bruce le and not real. I ordered these from overseas but there were so many I couldn't afford being a kid. I had some black light fuzzy Bruce posters and the emblem one without the shirt. KMart had a collage one I remember too I missed getting. I bought The world of bruce lee museum book too and then sorta got away from collecting. I started drawing Bruce from the Kung Fu monthly's and be obsessed drawing him too. This was in 79,1980. I used to see submissions of drawing from fans and I was a decent artist mine were good. Wish I kept them and my collection now. I was obsessed with KISS also and couldn't afford to collect both even then..
Thanks for sharing your story. I bought that dynamite magazine in school as well. Appreciate you sharing. So glad to hear you enjoyed the episode and have been a fan since 1977. Have a wonderful weekend and see you on Wednesday for my next Bruce, Lee, short and Friday for a new featured Bruce Lee episode. Enjoy my friend.

I would have to say that Ted Wong was the best because he did spend the most time with Bruce Lee. This is not putting down Sifu Dan Inosanto in anyway or Sifu James Lee.
Mr. Damiano, In the book, "The Making of Enter the Dragon" by Robert Close, on pg 193, second paragraph, Close states that Bruce took a camera crew back in the mirror room & filmed for 2 weeks! Nobody ever talks about this footage....this has bothered me for years! Is there any way you can look into this? Yours truly, a fellow Bruce Lee fan, T. Singleton
Tom thanks for sharing that incredible information. I read that as well, but heard that most of the additional footage recorded from enterthedragon, and any behind-the-scenes footage, was left behind and scrapped on the editing room floor, and thrown out at the time they edited the film, so not much extra footage was stored or saved unfortunately.

No Sir, actually I wanted to see you both. So, by seeing both of you, I felt enjoying. 😊 here "meet" basically relates to meet Online via your TH-cam Channel Sir.
Do correct me if im wrong. After Bruce's death, any material that had anything to do with Bruce became underground. I felt bruce was being ignored by the mainstream after he died, despite he did so much to bring attention to himself and the star he became shone so bright. It was very hard to get hold of Bruce Lee material after his death, you really had to look hard to find interesting material on Bruce. Yet Bruce never died in the memory of individuals who had any interest in combat, he lived in their hearts, their soles and minds. He was for a long time those people aspired to be and a bench mark of what people wanted to achieve. Bruce was the original 🐐. The 🐐 of today's goats.
You are correct after he passed away it was hard to find lots of material on him. Things came out slowly over the years a few paper backs and the his wife wrote a great book and Alex Ben Block wrote the legend of Bruce Lee came out and so on, but his legacy continues to grow, and he still continues to inspire millions around the world. Thanks for your contribution on the channel and sharing your thoughts. Have a wonderful weekend and see you Wednesday for my next action packed Bruce Lee short be well, my friend.

Hi Charles! Hi Hector! Hi Richard! I'm fascinated by Richard Torres detailed Bruce lee life story . The time, years of reading, meeting, learning from Bruce lee's students. Developing information to create 2 future books for all Bruce lee fans to read and own first hand. This is very admirable on his part, much respect. He's so cool answering both your questions back and forth without missing a beat. I saw him at Angela Mao's restaurant but never met him personally. I hope one day to do so, hopefully at his book signing. Can't wait to see his detailed Bruce lee collection. Thank you guys for another fascinating episode, and interview. See you soon be well.🙏🎥👏👏👏👏

Did not know Ted was with Bruce while teaching to Hollywood stars!! Privately!!
Yes he was! Glad you enjoyed the show and see you Sunday for my next Bruce Lee short! Have a great weekend!

But one thing's for sure and two things are certain, they were available in NYC before the '80's my Bruce Lee Brothers.🙏
Looking forward to the next episode, keep up the great work and enjoy your strongend guys!

Mr. Damiano,
In the book, "The Making of Enter the Dragon" by Robert Close, on pg 193, second paragraph, Close states that Bruce took a camera crew back in the mirror room & filmed for 2 weeks! Nobody ever talks about this footage....this has bothered me for years! Is there any way you can look into this?
Yours truly, a fellow Bruce Lee fan,
@@CharlesDamianoBLC Too bad. I was hoping that that footage was Bruce's personal property. Oh well, we can always dream, can't we? Thank you, sir.

@@saptarshimandal611 yes that is my favorite documentary of GoD of all time!
