I wonder if there was something wrong with that guy. The situation seems creepy but there are mental illnesses out there with some people that don't understand personal boundaries etc or understand appropriate social settings. Thankfully he never hurt the girls. He seemed genuine but with the way things are in the world she should of just called it quits on their friendship when she first blocked him. It was all too weird and creepy.

My sibling met their boyfriend online, and he came to stay with us for about a week. (They are both 16 btw.) He ended up being very nice and a totally normal person, but I cannot describe how many times I verified with my sibling that they were sure he wasn’t a serial killer before he arrived 😂

I have a few online bestfriends of my own, the sad thing is i'm only 15 and I can't exactly meetup with any of them til i'm older because my parents are strict. But my advice for you is if you're planning on meeting some of your online bestfriends just follow your gut feeling and be very careful, probably facetime with them first then bring someone you're close with in real life with you and meetup somewhere public. Stay safe.
Honestly I'd just keep what's online, online. It's safer that way. But you should meet them at a cafe if you want to see them irl. Don't go to their house, you never know what could happen.

Hey, lemme tell you a story about me and my online friend.
I was around 10 and she was like.. around 14 and we were in the same country..
We never really showed our faces to each other.. but one day i was going back home from camping with my parents and what a coincidence..
WE WERE IN THE SAME TRAIN..
yes.. and another coincidence.. she was online.. yes.. its a coincidence because she's not often online..
Anyways... i texted her that i was going home from camping and that i was on a train.. she replied that she was on a train too , we texted for like 2 and a half hour.
She told me personal stuff and i did too, she said she was wearing a black "Guess" Shirt, i told her i was wearing a unicorn shirt,
We actually figured out we were on the SAME Train i was actually a train infront of her so.. that WAS SUCH A COINCIDENCE!
When we arrived, she tapped my shoulder and i saw a girl wearing a black "Guess" shirt looking at me smiling so i smiled back.

I have a story to tell, it's not something that happened to me personally but my current girlfriend was with this guy who was much older than her before me. It's a pretty disturbing story. She was 13 and he was 19, it was an online relationship and at the time she didn't know any better and he was very manipulative and got into her head. They talked for a fair few months and fell inlove, he must've asked her to be his girlfriend and they became a couple and if you think the age difference between them is creepy enough then it gets worse..So they were together officially for only like 2 weeks and he started being obsessive, like he was very obsessive with her which made it 10 times more creepy, he had no happiness and life outside of talking online with her 24/7. She was his only happiness which is pretty sad but overall just creepy, weird and pathetic. At the time she thought that shit was normal and he was just a clingy and loving partner but it got worse and worse as time went by like he was expecting her to skip school for him, go against her parents wishes to videocall with him, he would spam her and text her every hour of everyday saying how much he missed her when she was busy and had to do some important shit. I saw the journal he wrote for her and everything so I know it's 100% true and he even said that his mum let him borrow the car for them to meetup and to happily be together, he mentioned that hopefully when they meetup she'll have a ring on her finger. The obsessiveness and clinginess that guy has is enough to make me say "damn that guys crazy and not in a right state of mind" but the fact she was 13 and he was 19 at the time, that shits hella weird and creepy. I'm just glad she never actually metup with him and she listened to her gut feeling and left before anything bad could've actually happened. I know it was a crazy story but I haven't really had any mind blowing or crazy/creepy online stories to tell so I figured i'd just tell you guys her story cause I figured it would be a very interesting story to tell. All I can say is when it comes to online dating or meeting people online be very careful with who you fuck with cause they may not be exactly who they say they are. Stay safe everyone.

I actually know a guy online who is kinda exactly like this but we are the same age 21 and I have told him that I'm a lesbian so he keeps his distance but always calls me his best friend and tells me I love you all the time (as a friend of course even though I don't reply him back) even though I'm barely online like I come online like once a week but he is always there...
He can be really creepy at times and he is definitely delusional but I always try to help him a lot and always tell him that he needs to see a psychiatrist or a therapist but he never listens and I don't know what to do about him, don't just want to abandon him like that but I live in India and he lives in Australia.
He is supper creepy towards other girls tho and always over the top romantic with whichever girl he is obsessed with at the time(its really border line creepy) but he really is just extremely lonely and I just feel bad for him and try to give him better advice towards girls(for those girls safety honestly, I do get worried about them because I know exactly how delusional he is) I mean he wanted to be a "spy" or "has a plan to be a billionaire" or some shit.... This person never shared anything personal about then nor asked about any of us, until the raid; they kept asking for my address saying that they'd send a plane or something to come get me.
I kept refusing going "YO, we're joking and that personal information"

I met my online friend in person two months ago. We actually started talking about a year before. It was quite interesting. Although we did talk a lot, it wasn’t as often as after I saw him in real life. I met up with him along with my friend. He didn’t look different in real life and carried the same energy he did online, he was also very nice to us, treating us to foods. At first, I was skeptical of him because of course it’s just someone you know through the internet but nothing bad happened. The trip made all of us closer. However, as his personality started shifting recently, I’m feeling a bit more uncomfortable because I’m not used to him with that different. It’s nothing bad, it’s just him joking around more with us but I’m too used to the first impression of him that I feel weird seeing a “different person”. I’m just glad we don’t live near each other. Distance makes me feel safer. If you guys think of meeting someone online, please make sure your friends or family know and share your location with them. Also go with another friend you already know. Don’t let them know your address or place of residence

I met my boyfriend online. Stories like this terrified me. My parents didn't find out about him until the first day of Senior year. I came home from school and just told them because I had been hiding him since the summer between freshman and sophomore year. They actually told me that if I could talk him into telling his parents and everything, that we could meet. We went up on my birthday and he was so excited and kept asking me if I was almost to the hotel. He *really* wanted to see me as soon as I got there even though it was practically midnight when I got there... I sent him a text to let him know and 30 mins later we got a knock at our hotel room and I froze before I opened the door because I was nervous. My parents snapped me out of it and when I opened it, I saw him and practically tackle hugged him. We were so happy. He took me to get shakes and we went to a parking lot just to chat. He ended up kissing me. I got so lucky and we're still together... but people do need to be careful out there. You never know who you're talking to. Don't just confirm the person. But look for others around them that may be able to add credit to their realism. I know people can easily fake that.. but some things you just can't. Social sites like Facebook show you when someone makes an account. Check *everything* before you get into anything.
I met my internet friend 5 days ago. And I have no regrets. I knew she was real bc she went to West Union, while I go to Manchester. Plus I've facetimed, and snapped her MULTIPLE times, and everyone around me either knows her from snap, or has met her. She lives really close, and I've known her for her about 2-3 years, but only started talking to eachother a year ago or so. Anyways, she's amazing and I literally love her. We had so much fun and I'm sooooo glad I made plans with her!!
I've known my online friends for years now, and they're pretty great. :) Don't think they would ever catfish me. They've helped me through thick and thin, and they're much better than irl friends. The only problem is that they live so far away from me.

With that last story, I think he was being genuine about wanting to be friends. I mean, as far as we know, he waited that long to visit specifically so OP could be a legal adult, and so he wouldn't be labelled as a creep. He might've just been a man with a kind heart honestly

Here’s some tips:
If they say they’re the same age as you (or you suspect they are catfishing you)
1- get them to audio call you
2- don’t always trust images, video call them to see their face
3- if you can’t video call them make them send photos in poses you want them to be in (like holding a peace sign, closing only one eye, etc)
I met my best friend ever in an anime forum, we chatted for years before actually meeting personally. She had to visit a relative at the city I was living, so we (and a bunch of other people who got to know each other at the same forum - that was actually the first time most of us saw each other for the first time) met up at a subway station and then walk around having fun. Then she invited me to spend some time at her place when on vacation. It was about 10 hours bus ride, but it was so fun I went there 5 times, I guess. She lived with her grandma and the grandma would say she now had two granddaughters. Then her dad came back home, running away from some loan sharks. He spent all their money in a 6 months span and would keep trying to make grandma smoke again (she had stopped for years). Grandma died, and I was so worried about my friend that I took some days off work to go see her. Her dad sent me the worst vibes, acting like a loving parent when I knew he ababdoned her with grandma and was always arguing with her. I told her she could move to my place if she'd like to, but it was a few months until she got her college degree, so she had to stand there a little longer. I went back home and she'd tell me how her dad would to out at night leaving the place unlocked and when she confronted him, he'd threaten to go to the bank to shut down her account and lock her out of home. The last time we were texting, she said she wanted to talk to me before something went wrong... she never answered me after that. A week later, I got to know that she "killed herself and her poor father found her corpse 3 days later at grandma's room with a shot in her head". Since she did inherit grandma's house and her closest relative was her dad (who therefore would inherit anything she had), I know he did it, but even if I spoke to the police (as the last person she contacted) and they agree that's fishy, I can't prove anything.
Sorry for the long comment, but years after all this happened, I still can't get over it.

I met one of my BFFs online. We started on Facebook, eventually got each other's numbers and did a lot of Skype. It took almost 5 years for us to meet face to face. She lived an hour away, we decided to go to a public space, a Zoo, and my father and brother were there too. She was exactly the same as she seemed online. It was fun and we're still friends to this day.
I've also met a guy that I was talking to on Tinder, but he works in the same campus and I do. He had classes with one of my friends... So I felt like it was safe-ish. I kinda surprised him hahaha Not sure he liked that, I just saw him on the building and decided to approach him with my friend/coworker. I texted him 1st, but he didn't see it in time. I only met him once after that, but it's because of COVID.
I guess if you're gonna meet an online friend, make sure to do it in a public space, share your location with someone, tell your parents or close friends and do it during daytime. Don't drink and make sure you've a way to get home safely if things started to get creepy. Another very important thing: don't leave your drink or food unattended to go to the restroom or something like that, who knows what they might put in it! Believe me, I know people that did that and didn't end very well

I was friends with an online friend of mine for about a year before we met in-person. One of my family's summer vacations was close enough to them that I was able to visit them. We walked around, talked, and just hung out. I went back to my hotel that night and... nothing bad happened. It was an awesome time, and I'm still friends with them. Not all online friendships end badly, you just have to be careful.
That's why I'll never meet up with people I DONT know!
my experience was actually nice and real, my online friend of 7 years (5 and 6 2018 and 2019) my dad got in contact with her dad and we met. I would always pass her city when we would go see family and visited her with my dad at this fun place, it was strange calling each other by our real names while our dads were watching sports. this was around christmas 2018 and then we met again in the summer the next year while eating out, that was fun.
Meeting online friends isn't all the bad things you expect...
But it's not all the good things you expect either, if you wanna meet an online friend have a parent contact their parent or maybe even the person themselves and meet them with your parent just to be safe. Just a tip

My friend and I had an online friend too, back when we still had Amino. We never met him. I was 13 and my friend was 12 and this guy joined our group. He later told us that he was 27 but, being naive back then, we didn't bring it up much, even though it was slightly uncomfortable. We were talking, mainly about art because out group was for young artists and looking back at it, our relationship was weird. He knew a lot about us but never told anything about himself. He later sent a picture of my friend from her Instagram profile, which I should mention she NEVER told him about, and asked "is this you?" She responded that it was and he became rlly creepy afterwards. He started to ask about where we live, our phone numbers, if we have any siblings and the question that was one of the main reasons we ended that friendship "when are you guys home alone? Maybe I can visit sometimes", now it was RLLY creepy and he eventually was asking for different pictures of our bodies and we blocked him right away. It was an experience I never wish to anyone

I once became friends with some guy in like the other side of the world, he was 19 and I’m 14. At first it was fine, the conversations were innocent and we talked about ourselves and a band we both liked. But I started feeling weird when he would start calling me cute and stuff of the sort. It was really weird, but when u become friends with someone online, there’s this feeling like u don’t want to let them go, so I didn’t. It ended up growing even more and more uncomfortable, to the point where he was calling me things like baby and things like that. My parents didn’t know about him and me being friends, and they still don’t. I ended up breaking the friendship after like 6 months. I’m not even sure if what I did was right. I just told him I didn’t think we could be friends and deleted my account before he could even answer back

Kyutie, I love your voice and your expressive face. I love the two stories you read (March 22nd, 2021). Two weird guys that wouldn't take "NO" for an answer. Things could have developed a lot worse that it actually did. I wish all girls would learn what "red flags" to look out with strangers online. Not all men who are online are not dangerous. But there aren't any gauges or measurements to show how nice or terrible he is.

I've met some of my online friends. None of my stories are bad though. It's usually just awkward, at least at first, as I'm Autistic and struggle communicating IRL as a lot of things are said with body language and facial expressions by neurotypicals, which I don't pick up on, along with language nuances, etc. There's none of those when it comes to messaging, except maybe some nuances, which people are more willing/able to revise when not face to face. I also struggle to process spoken language (auditory processing difficulties) and struggle with articulation as I haven't got time to think, write, revise until what I say comes out right, like with typing. Not only that but I stutter, get easily overwhelmed and I also need somewhere comfortable to "flop" as I'm also physically disabled, including with chronic pain and I get more and more restless the more pain I am in and it affects my ability to think. Oh and I stim, a lot, verbally and movement-wise. The eye contact thing isn't a big issue at least. Most people don't realize I'm looking at their mouth instead of their eyes. To them, I'm giving somewhat decent eye contact and by looking at mouths, I'm better able to process the sounds that they are making with said mouth. I'm also really sucky at small talk. People tend to be more open in messages as they feel safe behind their screens, whereas I remain the same, so I get too deep and they get too shallow. Oh, and then there's my own facial expressions, well expression. I smile. I smile a lot, smiling is my mask, I don't really know how to make my face match how I'm feeling. Those close to me usually understand the differences in my smiles but it takes a while to understand them. All my friends (online and not) know that I'm weird (not saying Autistics are weird, I'm saying *I* am weird) though and actually make an effort to talk to me at my level, taking into account all of the above, which is how it should be as I am always making a lot of effort to talk to people at their level. Them talking on my level means being blunt and have lower expectations of relying on non-verbal communication, etc. We should all make an effort to meet people halfway IMO and they wouldn't be my friend already if they didn't at least try ^_^
The last story, the guy seemed innocent and wholesome but we live in a world where we can’t trust anyone so it seemed creepy. Sad
Due to my lifelong health problems all my friends are online friends. I have same age friends, much younger and much older friends all the same. I was lucky enough to form a very close knitted friend group over a common interest. We do sent each other gifts and take part in each others' lives as best as we can. But the thing is, an actual bond takes time to form. You doesn't become best and reliable friends immediately. It's common to be reasonably open, friendly and nice from the very beginning on internet, but it's not the same as friendship that you earned over the years. So you can find your best friends online. But work and boundaries still exist. If you feel something happens too fast and someone is pushing too close for you to be comfortable, that's a sign.

My parents met online. Dad had moved to Country1 (Yeah, not gonna say, sry lol) from Country2 already, & my mom had sold EVERYTHING just to get a flight to see him from Country3 for three months. They got (legally) married in that time, then she went back to Country3. She returned to Country1 several months afterwards, & the two got married by the church, moving in together.
For the smart woman she is, I had never thought that my mother would have ever taken this kind of chance, but ig that’s how it happened. Thank you internet- I wouldn’t have existed without you lmao

my internet friend has apparently been in love with me for 5 years.
I had an online friend. He was only a few months older than me. I met him on my TH-cam comment section, in a previous channel. Back then, I posted makeup reviews and tutorials and I was happy to see a straight guy like a makeup video. A few days later, he contacted me in my instagram account. Our conversations were about school, as we were both 3rd year Junior High students and animes. We facetimed, called and sent pictures of ourselves having fun or eating out. He lived in Canada, I lived in the states. My parents knew about him, and often appeared in the backgrounds of our facetime calls. For my 15th birthday, I went to Canada and decided to meet at the airport. I told him what I was wearing and we colour coordinated so we'd find eachother easily. A found him by the luggage check, he looked just like his pictures! I thought it was a relief that I hadn't been catfished. We went to his parents house. (Note that my parents weren't with me) I ate dinner with them. I thought that it was going well. An online friend who I had wished to see for YEARS is sitting right next to me. Well, it went downhill. He was very controlling, he didn't approve on what I wanted to wear or didn't like the way I wore my makeup. I thought it was weird, as we were friends and ONLY friends.. so why would he want to control the way I looked? I brushed it off, and did what he told. Here comes to red flags..
(1): He never smiled when I was around which was odd, he had a very sad/angry looking resting face so it made me think I did something wrong.
(2): He would constantly snap at his parents for the LIGHTEST reasons.
And...
(3): He was abusive. He would hit his younger brothers, his mother and would shout when things wouldn't go his way. He was completely different from the way he acted in our calls and coversations..
His parents could easily tell I felt uncomfortable around him and would talk to me in private about how I should leave without him knowing.
On Friday, we ate out. We went to a local restaurant with a window in the bathroom. As we we're waiting for the food, I pretended to need to use the washroom. I brought my bag with my ID, Passport, Phone ect. I climbed out the window and ran towards the house with the key his parents gave me. (BTW his parents helped me plan it)
I packed my shit and took an uber. In the Uber, she asked why I was so paranoid and told her my story. I arrived safe, blocked him on everything and still has contact with his mother. He recently got dumped by his girlfriend for being too controlling lol.

Well me and Ellie met in 2017 I was around 8 she was around 6 we were inseparable and one day she had a random girl come and scare her it was her sister around 14ish
She then screamed as I saw the girl (her sister) pull of a mask and she ended the call and we did not speak for 3years and eventually I got a call from her....
She told me how her uncle who struggled with mental illness broke in and tried to kill her and there family

For the long story, I kinda feel bad for the guy. He was much older, but he fell into a best friend love with these 13 year old girls. He wanted to gift them and celebrate them like his own daughters or sisters, and the girl saw a creep who could’ve murdered her. They played with him for a long time, by the second time they could’ve just dropped it. Not because they were curious. He never really did anything except send them gifts, in hopes to make them happy. What else would a teenager want from a friend online? Then the way they handled it at the end was so vile. He just wanted to make them happy. I don’t wanna say they played with his feelings, but they did play with him, and he probably thought he did someone very wrong. But I guess people much older can’t be friend with people much younger..
Again, he never did anything creepy. I hope she DOES talk to him and tell him how sorry she is, but she thinks they can’t be friends much longer. They treated him like a toy when they thought he was a creep in the first place, then didn’t give him any explanation. He didn’t deserve it.
Tbh, my online friend Story is kinda idk tbh.-. i had a similar experience with the second story;
I was addicted to anime when i was 10, i joined anime forums, i met a kind guy he was in his 20's, let's call him Snow, we clicked in as otakus real quick and became friends until after 4 months he started sending pics of anime characters being affectionate to each other and would call me 'my little rose' at first i thought it was sibling like, he would call me and play the piano for me, he would tell me that after his college education he would go to my country (he got that from my friends)
fast forward to a few months he had a girlfriend, and his gf broke up with him and suddenly he asked me to be his gf and i was creeped out, i rejected him and ignored him for months, he kept chatting and chatting, until i forgot about him and i had a gf.
one night he called me and i ended it and told the story to my gf, i kept rejecting him until he forcefully tried to make me his gf, that was my last straw, i told my gf to message him and tell him to stop talking to me, ever since then i never spoke to him again.
until now he's still trying to get a chance with me
