Phonics is a method for teaching people how to read and write an alphabetic language. It is done by demonstrating the relationship between the sounds of the spoken language and the letters of the written language.
Phonics help children learn how to read and write. It is important for children to learn letter-sound relationships because English uses letters in the alphabet to represent sounds.
There are only 26 letters in the alphabet, but those 26 letters make over 40 different individual sounds.
It is extremely beneficial as it teaches children how to decode letters into their respective sounds, and thus they acquire the skill to read unfamiliar words all by themselves.
