This song almost didn't get a video, but I'm so glad it did. It's a piece of history, and one of the most powerful anti-war songs ever made. We don't often get the perspective of ordinary people in war, so it speaks powerfully to the experiences of the millions of ordinary people caught in every war, not just theirs. Their next album is in the works and the guys say the music originated in their days stuck in Kyiv under siege, and they say its going to be extremely heavy. I'm sure it's going to be powerful. Great reaction. Cheers!
This is so far beyond most metal. It’s got groove, melody and style changes. A lot of bands just thrash about with no “there” there. I freakin’ love this band!
That's sick... I was at Jinjer's Concert this month and this is one of my favorities song... live perfomance is amazing all th band is incredible but Tati is a beast that last part, I'm chilling till now hahaha good reaction
This is my all time favourite Jinjer song, and its message is so powerful. Your reaction was brilliant, and I appreciate that you also acknowledged the message, not just the (awesome) heavy music.
Aaaaand he is back with a bang! Great choice! Love your reaction to this one. I never get tired of NW or Jinjer reactions and was happy to see you chose this one. Jinjer always impress me with their musicianship and poetry. Perfect package! Love the shirt, btw! 😘🫶🏼
Loving this reaction, Chief! My current favorite band, as you know. Hell, Tatiana is my frickin' TH-cam icon image. The fact that this song came from Macro, which was released in 2019, 3 years before Russia invaded their country, was prescient, at the least. In fact, I believe they were all from Donetsk, the region that took the brunt of the initial invasion, up until a few years ago, and they had only recently all moved to Kiev when they released the Macro album. They do not hold anything back. They explore all of those uncomfortable things - Mental Health (Vortex), Abuse (Dreadful Moments), Isolationism and Depression (Wallflower), and, of course, War (Home Back). They do it with virtuosity, feeling, and the sincerity borne of having lived the very things they write about. And, what I love most - no solos - each artist does what they do, leaving room for, blending in with, and being in perfect harmony with the other 3 artists in the band. Disclaimer - I do LOVE solos - see Lovebites (with a new bassist!). But, I do believe you're tapping into what it is that makes them a truly special band.
Very good analysis. This song is one of my favourites. I think its message will live on for a long time as people discover this song and realize its importance.
Another Jinjer I would love to see you react to is “I Speak Astronomy” (when you get some time. 😘) th-cam.com/video/KJoPIgg17U4/w-d-xo.html And “On The Top” th-cam.com/video/4Mg7fbki-gA/w-d-xo.html
What a really great guy you are. This reaction video describes my feelings for the band. Thanks for that, you find the right words. The mention that at first you hear chaos and it gets more structured as you listen fits so well, little by little you always find something that excites you. Jinjer is and remains the very best band for me. Really great reaction worthy of the band, I'll be checking out more of you. All the best to you. ❤ 🔥
I know what you mean! as a musician and sensitive person... lovely greetings from germany & thanx for your reaction on an absolutely great, great band.
Just a few notes on the lyrics. This song was written to talk about the 2014 annexation/separation of their home. They are from the Donbas region of Ukraine. That whole mess forced them to stay away/tour non stop. Fast forward to 2022, the boys got caught in Kyiv during the current invasion. They got lucky to be allowed to resume their touring thanks to special permission from the Minister of Culture.
Before Tati joined Jinjer, she was in a reggae band. That is why she has dreads in the early videos with her. Check out the 20 minute video on TH-cam of the house party where they performed a Nirvana set in full reggae. Pretty awesome, TBH.
The Kodry was a weird band but not in a bad way necessarily. Prophecy was another band Tatiana was in as a young dreaded lady, and also she was a solo bar/lounge singer for quite a while
It's fantastic and horrible at the same time. It's a shame and a miracle really. That's what I get from it anyway. The absolute chaos is actually just stupidly complicated time signatures, and then you have the bossanova section in the middle which is, if possible, even more insane in the context.
great reaction! if you want to have even more chills, checkout the Hellfest 2022 version of this song. It happened only few daus after Jinjer was allowed to travel out of Ukraine as cultural ambassadors. Just listen to Tatiana's voice and look at her: then you will really feel the song!
I get choked up every time I hear Home Back because for me it has the double meaning of all war refugees wanting their home back from the bloodiest edge of capitalism and all of humanity wanting our home back from the climate destruction of capitalism which will almost certainly prove far more deadly: we're most likely all about to be homeless (no habitat, see Guy McPherson and MEER Reflection Framework) in less than three years. Another of my other favorites is Ape (official video). Ape is Tatiana's giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her. Thank you always, Chief, for your heartfelt reactions and for bringing more of the fantastic music of Jinjer to more people! ❤🖤🤘
Yes, it is 2022, but Ukraine has the misfortune of living next to a crazy neighbor who mentally stuck in the stone age but instead of stones and sticks threatens with nuclear weapons. Anyways thanks for your sincere reaction. I enjoyed watching it as much as I enjoy listening to Jinjer. From Ukraine with love💙💛
The war started in 2014. Not this year. She is Russian native speaker, probably Russian nationality. And this song came out before Russian invasion. Do your research.
"WTF man, it's 2022! Grow up!"
Fucking preach!

Lyrical, musical & visual high art. Powerful & heartbreaking. The jazz break (as I see it) in the middle is ingenious. I *love* this song & video.

Fractal music. It seems random at first, but then you see the beautiful pattern. Ape is probably the best example. Loved the reaction!
Ahhhhhh! I love this so very much.
Awesome my bro! Sick songs!
The last image of the hands taking the house off into the dark at the end of this video is one of the creepiest things I have ever seen
Good to see you back in the game 🤘
Good reaction!
Really good!

Sad to think about growing up during war, and then doing again.
Its weird seeing you without the mask.😄
I love me some jinjer 🎶 music is life 🎶sending prayers for Ukraine 🇺🇦 that they get there home back ! 🙏🏽🇺🇦❤
