I came here to listen to Amos's guitar, but was blown away by Cathy's amazing vocals. David Nichtern writer/composer created a masterpiece tune, and Maria Muldaur and Amos crafted a timeless classic. Love it!

when I was much younger I used to be in a band and we played semi-regular in a bar called The Lower Deck in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. Amos and his band used to play semi-regular at the 'upper deck' (there were 3 bars in that building, lower, middle, and upper decks!) the lower deck was a drinking students party bar, and closed up around midnight, the upper deck was more off a lounge bar and closed at 2 or 3am. after we finished playing at the lower deck we usually went up to the upper deck to catch the bands player there ... I can't count how many times I got to see the Amos Garrett band and the K D Lang band ... I count myself so privileged to be able to see those two in their primes!!
Very nice cover by the band. I met Maria Muldaur at the Keystone Club in Berkeley CA in 76'-77' or so. She was so sweet. A real heartbreaker. Great job with her song.
Amos Garret is a genuinely under recognized guitarist. Few know his name. But he is a unique player , highly creative and very soulful. I'd strongly suggest checking out the work he did with Maria and Geoff Muldaur. His guitar solo on their wonderful cover of "Georgia" is just superb. Ditto the rest of that LP.
I'm a pedal steel player. If you did a bend of two strings with the pedals it would sound a little too perfect. You could manipulate your left foot over the two main pedals so they're not resolving completely in pitch. The imperfection is what gives it the flavor. You could do it better the old school way slanting the bar, but since this is done on guitar, the most accurate way to do it would be on guitar. The guiarist gets the sound directly with the fingers where a steel player would attempt it by manipulating the pedals or the bar......my 2 cents.
He is fingerpicking the entire tune . There is a LOT going on ! And these are not just basic chords . That gives it EXTRAS not found in most songs . Great vocals . It captures the MOOD .
Right now, Beato has a vid on his channel about the "best improvised guitar solo". Someone, in making that decision on just one more Metheny suck-up video, missed Amos' work on the original studio cut of this. One take, perfect, inspired, and other worldly guitaring.
Yep she can sing it. She has every tone perfect. That guy on the guitar knows his guitar, he has that fret board down. He is a master of them chords, and scales.
