Try get a electric kettle for boiling water much cheaper and you can pick one for less than £10.
With the hot chocolate, boil the fresh milk and add your hot chocolates and sugar. Make sure it doesn't over boil.
The wind sheild affect the temperature hence it get colder though the temperature still remains.
