When I was at school back in the 1060s. Used to like watching the shunting in the yard. It could be seen from some of the upstairs classroom windows. More interesting than the lessons.
Well done for capturing such a busy scene at Tonbridge. I've been a number of times (last autumn was one to see the RHTTs at work) . I've never seen so many stone and ballast trains on the move in that location. Great to watch thank you :)
Thank you, that was very interesting, I only live a few miles away in Tunbridge Wells and have always meant to go and watch the freight movements but always to busy.
Tbh, being v busy is only an excuse . As one thing life has taught me, these opportunities do not last very long at all. Before you know it all heritage traction will be gone , be it hybrid power plants or not ! Living in Morpeth where we have penguins is so cold, we see close to sfa! So you don’t realise how Lucky you actually are, as all we see is next to nothing , and almost all modern trains. No freight hardly at all !!!
We see them run through Hildenborough so will also run through Sevenoaks. Also use the Redhill line. On the Video at 4:56 and 8:12 from Sevenoaks. 10:11 towards Sevenoaks.
May have been used on RHTT duties. RAIL HEAD TREATMENT TRAINS. Thats what 66717 and 66779 are doing near the end of the video. the stuff coming out of the tanks in a steam like state is to remove any mushy slippery gunge off of the top of the rails which is often caused by leaves so this only happens around early to late autumn. The spray gets all the junk off of the rails and is often forced backwards due to the force of the trains speed and plasters the last loco with all the crap. The loco pushing the tanks 66779 Evening Star should be a deep green in colour but clearly it is not.
Great footage and thanks very much for sharing !!!. This gives me great ideas for my model railway which i'm in the process of building. Can i ask how did you get so close to the class 69's and what platform where you on at Tonbridge ???
73119 🤣 looks like it's been stored on the seabed. Brilliant video, thank you 👍
Thanks for watching!
No point washing them during RHTT season, apart from the yellow ends.
Also available in blue

@@berksandhantsfreight i actually saw 66794 last week in Crawley traveling towards Horsham on a top & tail.
Anyone know why all the 69's are stabled at tonbridge. Is it to be there home or just coincidence...
Apparently all Class 69`s are to be based at Tonbridge
Nice one
Thanks for watching👍
They don't make any goods in this area so why is the yard needed? Plus I don't really see these trains pass Sevenoaks so where do they run?
Thanks for watching
