In nearly 35 years of watching wrestling, Michael P.S. Hayes was involved in one of the funniest things I've ever seen that I can remember in wrestling. It was in the 90s and he wasn't even part of the match, but ended up in the ring and getting pinned. We sure don't have the wrestlers that work the crowds anymore like they used to, probably due to larger audiences. Always funny to watch heel wrestlers address someone in the crowd.
Lol. Agree bout the wrestlers talking smack with the crowd. One wrestler in particular that I remember that was as good with the crowd as Micheal P.S. Hayes was a man named Ron Wright. Seen him yrs ago talking alot of crap to one old man in the audience until that old fella grabbed a shoe off a woman sitting in front of him and threw it(Yes, threw it) at Ron Wright. Was hilarious. I grew up on Ron Wright, the Mongolian Stomper, Kevin Sullivan, the Fuller brothers, and the Armstrong family. Those were the best of years. Now in today's wrestling, it's too much commercialization and not near enough working the crowds. Just my opinion.

They were also the forerunners of the as I call them "superteams" with more than two wrestlers. I love watching them now. If not for these guys and their gimmick, maybe we dont see the Four Horsemen, DX, Evolution, Nation of Domination and so on.
I didn't get to see a lot of the free birds due to my geographical location growing up but when I did catch them they were my favorite. They were a bit goofy but with so much character. All 3 of them looked so much different but yet they just came together as a great team to watch. Other tag teams seemed to try too hard and these 3 just looked natural together.
I'll be rather pissed if the Freebirds don't finally get in the HOF next year. Next year they'll be in their home away from - Dallas TX! It's just too bad they didn't at least do it when Buddy Roberts was still around. Kevin Von Erich is the only choice imho who should induct them. Michael was the one who inducted Kev and his family. That feud for me is one of the greatest to ever take place.

The Freebirds taught more top notch tag teams more lessons than any tag team in history. The Birds horrified the VonErichs and tormented the JYD's of this world. Remember when JYD tried to introduce an industrial abrasive powder into the ring area and wound up blind for his troubles? You had to be brain dead to mess with the Birds.
Michael Hayes was the original "rock star" wrestler. No, I take that back. Jimmy Hart preceded him by a decade, and he actually was in a rock band before wrestling.
