  • Storm Frank arrived at the end of 2015 causing widespread flooding. This is the River Nith opposite the Whitesands in Dumfries, SW Scotland. The water was still rising after dark, tearing down to the Solway.
Music - 'To the Sea' by John.

Unreal, never seen anything like it.
The music is absolutely beautiful though.

+spikemcc Thanks Spike, I played it after seeing all that loud water, it seemed like it.

The river goes up and down but rarely this high - but don't worry, there's lot of hills nearby too. Hope this helps ;-)

+John Dewar Thank you John :) xx I did think after I commented, that this might be the case. Dumfries seems like the perfect place to raise a family. I assume you are a local? What would you say to that? I have been doing research for a while now, but there is nothing better than an inside view :)

Well from a completely unbiased perspective ;-) Dumfries is the very epicentre of some beautiful terrain from mountain and moorland, over woodland and pastoral lands to estuary and shore. I loved growing up here and can't think why anyone wouldn't! Dumfries itself is a fairly small, relatively quiet town and probably not a shopper's paradise - though it's equidistant from Glasgow & Edinburgh each a big hour away.

I've lived in Dumfries all my life, rarely see the river this high. Just get a house away from the Sands and you won't be affected

Is that the one next to the Piccolo cafe (not the ones downstairs the one upstairs) last time Iw as in Dumfries it looked closed down.

+Jamie Ingram Sorry to hear that, Jamie - the world needs more waterproof doors, like submarines have.
