So...Chase is worth getting up for, but you're daughter isn't. Your daughter is clearly uncomfortable and instead of making any effort to put her at ease, you tell her she needs to sit with her hands in her lap at a place that would feel like home. You think it's good that your granddaughter is dating someone seriously enough that she's celebrating milestones at the same age that her daughter was when she got pregnant and see no irony in that...yeah, the Gilmores are garbage.

This is a weird comment. She was set up with a guy she didn't ask to be set up with. A guy she didn't even know. It was an awkward situation. And given Richard's reactions, it's clear it wasn't just awkward for Lorelai.
