Since I am still living outside PY, I worry about the maintenance requirements of the PR.
If I fail to keep 1 day of staying in PY per year, will my PR be canceled immediately? or any grace period.
Hmm, common sense said JUST VISIT 1 DAY/YR AND U STILL find excuses for late? LOL. The worst is JUST REAPPLY if u don't show up in ANY DAY of 1 full yr 365 days, it cost just the legal process again and WAIT another 1 yr LOL, u can reapply every yr until YOU WON'T FORGET to visit just 1 day per 365 days LOL. How can u find excuses like that. THERE IS NOT much difference between TEMP AND PR, with PR u only have to VISIT ONCE PER 3 YRS, while TR requires u visit ONCE PER YR. Get my points? U need to pay superman teach u life best advise on saving tax/make$ and marriage (b;/c divorce is 1 of the worst/biggest spending in your life, AND 2ND BIGGEST spending is TAXATION). It's a reciprocity situation. Meaning if Paraguay and the other other country allow dual citizenship with each other than your good. If not than Paraguay isn't going to allow dual citizenship.

when applying for Paraguay citizenship do they require that you show renunciation papers from your home country? If not, I think it's unlikely you would have any trouble obtaining citizenship in Paraguay, especially if coming from USA where they want to keep you on the tax dole as long as legally possible.

Natural born Paraguayans can get any nationality. No denonuncing of any passport.

According to financials I asked and people I know who live there in Paraguay, you can't open a bank account in Paraguay until after you get your cedula with permanent residency.
And even if you do get a bank account, then due to the most strict AML (anti money laundering) process in the world due to the evil US forcing it on Paraguay, it's extremely difficult or impossible to transfer any funds into Paraguay from abroad into Paraguay, except perhaps for bonafide salary or pension payments and even that's difficult, plus total inbound transfers are limited by the Paraguay gov't to $1000 per month,
Most or all reputable western banks will close your bank accounts if you're living in Paraguay as their compliance departments consider it too risky Again this is a legacy thing like the bad AML stuff in Paraguay.

@@Apersonintheworldtoday NO. Just be prepared to live off your foreign credit card and foreign bank debit card. Which means you are very limited in your spending in paraguay - like forget about buying a house or new car unless you can get set up with a local bank account and wire money in, which is very difficult and requires documented proof & trace of the source of funds. Most people cannot prove that, unless for eg you very recently sold a house abroad that you;d long owned (for at least 20 years) and kept the money from the house sale in the same foreign bank account that the buyer deposited payment into. Very harsh AML regulations in Paraguay, imposed by the US.
