I didn’t care so much for Jerry’s solo stuff at first, but it grows on you to the point where you find yourself with ear worms of it constantly. I love AIC so much though. I’m just glad he’s still around and able to do his thing.
It was indeed formulated to be that way. I've known Trujillo's entire career, he has a way of getting really lucky. Right place, right time. And I do admire him. Still, I felt like Jerry's solo work was a way to persuade Layne to come back and improve it... until that was no longer possible. Then, Jerry cleared the fog of despair and moved forward, with great acclaim. But early AIC songs were all of them, his band, at their best. Boggy Depot stands well on its own, a testament to his individual talent. Just don't put too much stock in drummers and bassists until they've marked an untouchable style that stands out. I played bass and guitar up and down the Hollywood Strip. Didn't stand like they all have, but I have written songs that may one day surprise people- when it's too late to do anything but record and publish.
like honestly, as an AIC fanboy im glad he went on to make 2 independent albums, the 2nd being 2 whole hours no less, still capturing that classic AIC feel
Proof that AIC wasn't just Layne, Which everyone should know. As a group they were magical and Jerry misses every minute of it. So don't talk like that about what you don't understand

So true, I tell my friends all the time and no disrespect to Layne he is a top 5 greatest singer ever, but that's kinda all he was, was an amazing unequally talented singer but that's it he was a voice. Jerry was the brains behind AIC, the lyrics, the music, the overall sound and direction of the band was all spawned from the greatness of Jerry. Once again don't barrage me with hate because I'm a huge fan of Layne and respect appreciate, and miss him daily
I suggest everyone go out and BUY every Jerry Cantrell piece of music you can, and learn to appreciate him for the musical genius he is. You will then find out who was behind 95% of Chains' music - lyrically, vocally, and on the guitar. Layne was the beautiful cherry on top that made it recognizable.
I suggest u read the song credits in their CD liner notes before making seriously inaccurate comments. Do you own any AIC albums..? Or is it just "songs on TH-cam"..?
Not 95%, but definitely the majority of the sound no doubt. He wrote the majority of the material for the albums, even when Layne was around. Layne may have been the soul, but it Layne was the mastermind behind the band's sound and direction. It's like Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda; lead singer is the soul of the band but in comparison to the guitarist and co-vocalist they didn't contribute as much substance.
Minnie W Cantrell wrote almost every music that AIC did except for 3 songs. Half of the songs Jerry wrote the lyrics for. Cantrell would have written more if he didn't hate writing lyrics. Cantrell wrote the lyrics and music for Rooster, Down in a Hole, Would?, No Excuses, Heaven Beside You, Grind, Them Bones and etc.
All of Jerry’s solo work went way under the radar, deserved so much more attention especially degradation trip vol1&2 which is a masterpiece. Jerry is a goddamn genius

I’ve loved Jerry Cantrell since the first time I laid eyes on him back in 87 when he asked Layne to be in his band Alice In Chains. So many of his song lyrics are like he wrote them about me. I have endured hell and heartbreak more than anybody I know. So through it all Alice In Chains tunes were my comfort through the years. I was told by a gypsy back in the 80s that I’m psychic and I get strong vibes all the time from Jerry’s soul reaching out to mine. In my heart and soul I do believe it’s God intent for our paths to cross one another. And the two of us be together for eternity.

Degradation Trip is as solid of an album as they come! Love this album!!! Got to see Jerry at The Whiskey , Roxy and Key Club in Hollywood when he was touring for this album. Those 3 shows have to be the loudest and some of the best shows I've ever been too!!! Met him behind the Whiskey while he was sitting in his car. I said Hi Jerry, I'm Jerry can I get your autograph. And then During the show he handed me a pic. Dude talk about as thick as a quarter!
Seeing him live in '02 at the Roxy in Hollywood was perhaps the most gargantuan crunching sludge rock I've ever believed possible, much less seen or heard live.
IMHO, it is better than the white album. People just don't know what they don't know . . . Jerry as a solo force did not have the cultural impact of the Beatles in '68, but musically, the work is equally complex and exceeds the White Album, even, in musical depth.
I was fortunate enough to see this lineup at a bar show in Tampa. Jerry was looking rough in those days, but his show was on point. To this day one of the greatest rock shows I've ever seen.

Can we all talk about how awesome the main riff is in this?! Jerry gives that guitar some serious attitude!!!
Jerry Cantrell is a truly gifted talent. This is just one of his many great songs.
Seeing him live in '02 at the Roxy in Hollywood was perhaps the most gargantuan crunching sludge rock I've ever believed possible, much less seen or heard live.
Such a massively underrated song writer!!! Fuckin love it
Jerry Cantrell rules!!!!.....love this s..t!!!....and I'm 62!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
All the nights growing up spent head banging to this song haha. Jerry is the fuckin man.
Jerry Cantrell is the best song writer/ musician on the planet period !!!
The album Degradation Trip is a gem
IMHO, it is better than the white album. People just don't know what they don't know . . . Jerry as a solo force did not have the cultural impact of the Beatles in '68, but musically, the work is equally complex and exceeds the White Album, even, in musical depth.
Puffy,Trujilo and Cantrell....wooow.
Definetly one of my favorite song writers. Jerry's brilliant
0:17 #RobTrujjio from #Metallica 🤟🏼
The Grunge Scene's, Legendary #JerryCantrell
I love it
Great song!! Jerry is so underrated! And dang, he looks really hot, here!
One of the greatest American songwriters of the last 20 years.
Cantrell=Stud = 'Nuff said
Jerry Cantrell rocks
😮
Jerry is a beast! I love everything this guy does.
always a jerry cantrell follower...always
Jerry Rob and Mikey what a grinding riff and thundering Baseline a totally rocking song. No shortage of talented musicians here they Rock🎸👍🤘
I was fortunate enough to see this lineup at a bar show in Tampa. Jerry was looking rough in those days, but his show was on point. To this day one of the greatest rock shows I've ever seen.
Metal Chains No More!
This is a perfect hard rock song.
Anger still rising in 2024
Anger is an energy, as it was sung. Monkeys always benefit with the energy of anger, while climbing the next higher branch on the tree.
I totally agree with you on that one dude's 😎🥰🥰😎💕🥳😎🥳😎🥳😎🥳🙈💜🙈💜💕👽🙈👽💕💜👹💜🙈💜🙈💜🙈🤖😎🥳🤑💜🙈💜🥰💜🤑💜🤑💜🙈💜🤑💜💜💕💜💌💜🙈💜👹💜🙈💜🤑💜🙈🥳🙈🥳🤑💜🤑💜😎☠️😉🥰😚🥰🙃😍😉😍😉🥰😉😜😉😍😉😜🙃😘🙃🙃😘😘😚😘😛😋😉🙃😉😉🙃😛🙃😛😉😛😚😝😘😝😘😝😘😝😘😝☺️😛😉😝😍🤩🤪😍😊☺️☺️😘😛😘😛😉😊😘😉😋😊☺️☺️😆😊😆☺️☺️☺️
He assembled such a great band for this. With the time line it's like Robert left this video shoot and went strait to the Metallica audition
The band he assembled for boggy depot was fuckin great too, Sean and mike from AiC with Chris DeGarmo from queensryche. Jerry is a legend and is clearly extremely well respected among his peers
@@puppetmaster8551 it also had Rex brown on a few songs and les claypool
I woke up with this song in my head and as I sat down at my computer with my coffee, popped open TH-cam, there it was... recommended on my front page with other Cantrell solo stuff. Fuckin creeeepy
Such a great tune off an album that has no bad ones on it. Can't wait to hear his next solo album.
As for rhythm sections it can't get much better than this...
Hell to the yesss totally freaking awesome here it is almost two in the morning and I'm jamming to the legend Jerry Cantrell 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻♥️♥️🤘🏻🤘🏻
Jerry, if you're listening...gifted, your pain I know. I'll die with your words serenading peace in my ear
I have come a long way to this point and right from the very beginning you my fans have been solidly behind me
It’s been a landslide but we always pull through together, your love and support are amazing.
Believe in your self you can always achieve your dreams
Kindly tell me where you are from and also drop your email so you can be selected to lend your voice on my upcoming projects
My inspirations for me to learn guitar are Richard Z Kruspe and Jerry Cantrell. I've been playing now for 12 years now.
and ex-Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin tub-thumping away. Fantastic album
Love it Jerbear. 😍
jerry cantrell mi hombre
I love this song Riff 💕🤘
jerry is such a good song writter.......period
His first album was beast. He had Rex Brown (Pantera) on bass and Sean Kinney (Alice in Chains) on drums. But I'm not saying anything bad this album. Because Rob Trujilo is beast at bass also and I love Faith No More. So still each way Jerry still would have a good line up.
Nothing is better than tool tho
Heresy True that lol
+Heresy Well according to an extreme tool fan yes, I actually really prefer A Perfect Circle, though I doubt we will get an album from either of them anytime soon.
Here for Jerry and Rob!!
This song is so awesome....

This song jumps right into a good tune as soon as it plays.
