- A Conservative MSP has been ejected from the Holyrood chamber after accusing the First Minister of lying to parliament and then refusing to apologise for the remark.
Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell claimed Nicola Sturgeon had lied when she previously pledged full co-operation and transparency with Holyrood’s inquiry into how harassment complaints against Alex Salmond were dealt with.
On Tuesday, the Scottish Tories suggested the FM had “misled” parliament amid frustration among MSPs on the inquiry with the lack of evidence it has received, with its convener going as far as to accuse the Scottish Government of “obstruction”.
Mundell, who is the son of former Scottish secretary David Mundell, raised this as a point of order in the Scottish Parliament chamber on Wednesday.

If someone lies, they are a liar, Especially if they do not retract what they have lied about.
For this brave MSP to be removed from the chamber for calling the lie out, is outrageous! I commend his courage and refusing to retract the word liar which he thought appropriate. This then should have been debated rather than him be ordered to leave the chamber.
How can government business be conducted and get to the truth in a matter when this happens.
Is it any wonder that little problems escalate to greater ones with a government like this ?
More lies are needing to be exposed in the Parliament.

Time to call out these ineffective Presiding Officers. Rules are rules, but time after time they have permitted discussions and debate on reserved matters (is the constitution), outwith the legal remit of the parliament, failed to hold members to account for misleading parliament and allowing the place to descend into the laughing stock it now is. And this guy gets thrown out for speaking the truth.

Is it acceptable only to decide someone's telling the truth if they call them a liar. But if the agree then it's a cover up. How do you know who's telling the truth and who is fabricating. Especially when you have a party who its well known not to follow up on promises particularly in Scotland. Might as well call them all liars if that's the only truth you believe. Very sad.

I’m not even sure why he’s complaining...everything has been published and wildly available. The papers that haven’t cannot be published for legal reasons. She is not even involved in the enquiry, because part of the enquiry looks into her conduct in handling the investigation.
