My Roselle has been fruiting since early April. I planted seeds 2/14. Last year the plants that survived the hurricane fruited till early December. I harvested the seeds from my first plants I originally planted late summer b4 last.
Thank you for all this info. I live in South FL and I started my garden about a year and a half ago but last summer the heat was so intense that it killed most of my crop. I will be following your advice now to grow my garden again. Your garden is Beautiful. 😊
rareseeds has a giant african okra call nkruma tenten and its incredible here much much more robust plants and in my experience doesnt succumb as easily to nematodes
Where I live in fl, I'm lucky to get rainfall 12 times a year. To keep everything from dying, my water bill is close to 300 a month during the hot season.
@@leavingayeye5198 I went to her website and she's near Tampa but the seeds she sells have the info for planting times for North, Central and South FL, which is handy
I grew Callaloo last year but beetles ate it before I had a chance to harvest. I had much better luck with the Egyptian spinach and enjoyed it sauteed with garlic and onion.
@@TheUrbanHarvest I’m a self-taught (thanks to your info and google) beginner gardener here in St. Pete also …(got some sweet potato slips from you THANK YOU 😊) and I have a few softball size sugar baby watermelon and I’m not sure what I should be doing or not doing lol
I like to start mine in pots since they take while to germinate. That way I don't forget about them. The seeds can rot if overwatered so watch for that. Only plant an inch or so deep. Basically the depth of the seed is how far under you sow it. Good luck!

Thank you, I appreciate that! Variety makes ALL the difference over summer. I think you will have much better success this year : )
I agree. i ive in NE Tx but the summer heat was crazy last year!! It even killed my mint!
Hopefully this year it won't be so crazy hot this summer.
I grew luffa here in e. central Florida very well! It drank a lot of water- like a sponge - imagine!
Okra and sweet potatoes! We'll make a southern girl out of you yet!
3 generation Floridian, definitely have the taste for it : )
I just ordered your luffa and Puerto Rico black beans. :)
Thanks for sharing ❤. New subscriber to your channel. I'm looking forward to watching more ❤👍💚
I have calaloo all over the yard now. And yes, it is lovely. I bought the Egyptian Spinach seeds from you and they are planted.
Gotta love the volunteers, at least they aren't hard to remove or anything. I think you'll love the Egyptian spinach!

Absolutely LOVE this video! Thank you❤️♾️❤️

I havent tried that one yet. I did the motherland okra and it did ok but didnt stand out by any means. Ill have to give that one a try : )
Thai Pink is my favorite okra!!
They are super fun and very easy to find hiding in the leaves!
What magnificent ideas. Can’t wait to plant these!
Glad you like them!

Our dry season can be rough! Are you central Florida on the ridge?
My Roselle has been flowering for at least a month now in St Pete.
Mine did early as well. Fairly unusual at least in my experience. They usually explode in blooms late summer...
I live in 10b, this was Fantastic, thank you
🚜🌿🌱✝️🇺🇲
Glad you enjoyed it. I'm 10b too!
Here in south Georgia the deer love our young okra. We've tried everything except putting up a tall fence....we'll have to save up fir that investment
Hello, do you sell the green callaloo seeds?
Are you in South Florida or further north?

Try pruning it back and you might have better luck this year. Egyptian spinach is definitely a rock star though!
Malabra spinach or New Zealand Spinach do great in the heat too.
@@Kat-KnowsI grew Malabar spinach last year as well but didn't care much for the succulent texture.
I eat any of my spinaches with lemon juice or a flavored vinegar, it cuts through any gel.
@@Kat-KnowsI'll have to grow it again and try it with the lemon juice. Thanks for the tip!
Very good 👍🥬🌵🐝
Who knew? Thank you
Lots of timely/specialty suggestions for our growing seasons. Make sure to sub if you haven't already!
If you don't like okra slimy you can also eat it raw,i just do it in some soy sauce
Please do video on watermelon ❤
That's a good one and I have some ripening Ill put it on the docket. Anything in particular you're wondering about?

@@michellewallis8089 Ok! Ill make it an A to Z then and give the basics of care as well when to harvest
