Aloha Linda! I just purchased two more Jaiho Queens and I’m so afraid to do anything to it lol. I mounted the last one and that didn’t go well! This time I think I’m leaving them alone and hopefully they’ll be okay 😂 My coconut orchids didn’t bloom for me this year 😞 So I purchased one that’s in bloom! Haha I just love that coconut smell! Mahalo for watching, it’s always good hearing from you Linda 🤙🏽

Where do I even start. Okay I loved everything about this show. 💚 the Honohonos and Cattleyas are on a whole other level of gorgeous. That Dinema polybulbon is soooooo big. Never seen one that size. I saw some things I have not seen before. In order to keep your Paphiopedilums alive you must give them good drainage and heavy watering. The same goes for the Jaiho queen. It does not like to dry out ever. The black orchid is to die for. Loved the Annie Saldanas. So crispy white. And of course the Kakemisu cattleya red and yellow was gorgeous! I need that “tough cookie” yellow Dendrobium😍 my favorite was the Bravo Nalo Beauty -Best Oncidium. Great episode!

❤ I love your video. I would need thousands of dollars if I purchased the orchids I liked the most. Then it would probably cost a bundle of bucks to ship them to me in Tampa, Florida! Thank you again for sharing all that beauty! Aloha

Aloha Joan! I feel the same way when I watch videos of shows in Florida 😂 I always see orchids that I want so badly but most nurseries don’t ship to Hawaii 😞 The struggle is real 😂 Mahalo for watching 🤙🏽

@Orchids in Paradise Hawaii needs to protect their islands from any insects and/or diseases that could cause a negative impact on them.

Love the video.Thank you so much for taking us to this exhibition. .Someday, some of those nice collections will come to our place in Kerala, India thru our plant importers.

Aloha Jose! You’re very welcome! Do you have orchid shows there in India? Are you able to grow orchids outdoors there? It’s always interesting to learn how people from other countries grow their orchids. Mahalo for watching and leaving a comment 🤙🏽

    • @josejkoonthanam

Thank you.Orchid exhibitions are rare.Plenty of orchid nurseries are here in Kerala, India who import orchids from Thailand,Taiwan etc.Post covid, a lot of collectors sell their orchids online.I also watched a lot of videos on orchid growing recently.Ninja Orchids initiative to do care collabs on particular orchids made me familiar with some special orchids. Here our climate is very good for orchid growing, with monsoons and enough sunlight.False notion prevail in our place that orchids is a costly proposition. It is a healthy proposition anyhow with everlasting blooms and all.Thank you once again for your beautiful videos.

Mahalo for this video. We went on Saturday and most things were sold out. I asked Dale if he will bring more on Sunday. He said no. We did see the award winners display, just stunning! I know of some plant sales where they bring a little inventory every day. But I guess first come first serve. Two questions, thinking of joining the Honolulu Orchid Society, what are your thoughts about that society versus others? Honolulu is the area where we live. Ans the second question, which of the Orchid shows/plant sales is your favorite and why. We have been long time members of the Lyon Arb. so we love the plants sales they have.

Aloha! I’m sorry to hear that there wasn’t much of a selection when you got there on Saturday. I also went back on Sunday and there was hardly anything left, good for the vendors but not for us 😂 I did purchase a cattleya that was on display that I’m very happy with 😍 As far as the Honolulu Orchid Society goes, I don’t know much about them because I’m still new to the orchid world. But I think they are one of the older clubs and they seem well established. If I lived in town, I would join. I live in Kapolei and I’m a member of the Mililani Orchid Club. Our club is small but our president is doing some great things and we’ve been having new members join. He is working on setting up a tour for the Hilo Orchid Show in July and possible nursery visits. We meet on the first Monday of the month, so if you’re interested in attending, leave me a message and I’ll give you the location. As far as my favorite show, I’d say the Hilo orchid show has been the best so far. But again, I am still new so I’ve only been to three shows, the Hilo orchid show, the Honolulu Orchid Society show and the Windward orchid society show. Have you ever attended the Bloom Garden & Art festival at Ward Village? It’s not an orchid show but they did have orchid vendors the last two times I attended. The next show is coming up soon, April 7&8 and Dale will be a vendor there. Btw I learned something new from you, I didn’t know about the Lyon Arboretum. I looked it up online and it sounds like some place I need to visit. Mahalo for watching and leaving a comment, if you have instagram you can message me on there as well. Aloha 🤙🏽
