Interesting, I never tried it as I thought it might be too harsh on the rubber and may cause it to prematurely crack. I'll try your method next time I need to clean some older rubber that has nothing to lose. I think I'll try some Naphtha on metal parts that still have carbon on them after a dip in Evapo-Rust as shown in the video. Sometimes that black carbon is stubborn!
