  • Have you learned to exaggerate in English? English speakers (and no doubt speakers of other languages) like to exaggerate. We like to make things sound better, bigger, or worse than they actually are. In this English lesson I'll help you learn 10 common English phrases that exaggerate the truth just a little bit!
By the end of this lesson you'll be able to say phrases like a native English speaker! Nothing makes your English sound more natural than using a few very common phrases like the ones in this lesson.
In this free English class you'll learn phrases like: I'm melting, I'm freezing my butt off, I'm starving, I'm dying of thirst, and many more!
I hope you enjoy this English lesson about exaggerations! Have a great day!

⌛ Remember: Always watch the video three times. Twice today with English subtitles on, and once tomorrow with the English subtitles off. This will reinforce the English you have learned!

Excellent video! Thanks for your work, Bob. I'd just point out that exaggeration is not exclusive to English speakers, I'd rather say that it's something almost every human tends to do in any language when we add emotion to our way of speaking. Needless to say that every language has its own common "exaggerating expressions" that are not neccesarily the same in other languages. Greetings from Mexico.

It is interesting how many similarities there are between languages and how much some sayings are transmitting like a virus from one end of the world to another. I am not sure about the origin of some sayings, but it is interesting that in my mother tongue (Serbian) many of these examples from your lesson are said the same or very similar.
    For example, we also say:
    - I am melting.
    - I waited forever.
    - I am dying of thirst.
    - I am dying to go on a holiday.
But we also say something very similar like:
    - I am dying of hunger.
    - I was freezing as butt.
or we use "zillion" when we wanna exaggerate.
Anyway, one more great lesson of yours.
    Thanks Bob👍👌💪🙏
