    Hey Coach Donny, thanks for putting this video up. I like that you get a full view of the court without the camera swinging around, so you can see all the action at once. Question: why does #11 TJ Defalco (almost) always clap his hands right before the opposing team serves? It can't be a distraction tactic. Is it for timing?

    • @vincentvu2134
      @vincentvu2134 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      murky2 It's to maintain focus and clear mind from previous point. Some people perform certain rituals before serving (slapping ball, bouncing ball, etc.)

    Going to college next year and all they have to offer is vball, soccer, and futsal... What great options. Lol

    Stanford's outsides (left and right) need to learn some new shots. They were only hitting deep middle-to-deep cross and game 3 really showed they couldn't put a ball away when LBS adjusted to it. LBS left sides could at least hit sharp cross and their right sides tooled lined decently.
    Middle's looked great though

      Long Beach is the #1 team and #11 is on the national team.

      Anthony Chavez and #13 is on the danish national team, #4 is on the Norwegian national team... Long Beach is pretty stacked with amazing talents.

    • @gymfamily
      @gymfamily 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ino wow that’s stacked. I’m actually very impressed with the Long Beach setter. Not an expert player but I feel they run some very fast plays. Must be hard to block them

    • @chriscons7849
      @chriscons7849 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not an expert player? Getting Setter of the Year, First Team All-American, and First Team All-MPSF as a sophomore doesn't make you an expert? Best setter at the collegiate level right now.

    • @IskaRiot84
      @IskaRiot84 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think he meant to say that he is not an expert player himself, so he might not be the best to judge, but that the Long Beach setter is looking good to him.

    18:10 why did the referee give the point to the black team? wasn't it an out ball? the referee even gave the "out" sign

    • @坂本玄-e7v
      @坂本玄-e7v 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LONG NOSE ZLATAN I think he just made a hand signal mistake. As a judge I sometimes do it. At every mistake I have to correct my hand signal.

    • @TheFootballCrafterz

      坂本玄 if it was a hand signal mistake then why did the point still go to the black team? it was clearly out

    Coach question for you.
    That play at 7:55. How did the power hitter know it was going to be a quicker set?

    • @chriscons7849
      @chriscons7849 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      gymp91 Josh and TJ have played volleyball together since they were kids, they know what to run and when, it’s all based on a quick look and call. Also, if Josh sees TJ approaching fast, he knows to shoot.

    Coach i was added in the varsity team at my school but I'm still a freshman and everyone there is really really good i doubt i will get much playing time do you suggest i go down and get more playing time or get good training and very minimum perhaps no playtime at all

    • @oscarmarquez4623
      @oscarmarquez4623 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Infidel well i kinda wanna go pro... I really want to play pro vball so i was thinking of getting the training from varsity and getting playtime at club

    • @oscarmarquez4623
      @oscarmarquez4623 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Infidel i am not done growing and i am also barely 14 i dont believe ill be 6'5 but I'm quite sure ill be atleast 6'0ft and i can make up in vertical what I lack in size

    • @oscarmarquez4623
      @oscarmarquez4623 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Infidel but i see your point it is definitely not easy to be pro but since me not being pro isnt guaranteed ill try my best

    • @chriscons7849
      @chriscons7849 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should look into playing in college instead of pro. Pro usually comes after college.

    • @SnailKingGY
      @SnailKingGY 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Being 6'0'' will barely get you into college ball, since most players will range from at least 6'0'' to upwards of 6'9'', some even close to 7'0''. In pro ball, the heights are even more skywards, with middles being close to 6'9'', oppos being around 6'5'' (undersized) to 6'9'', and outsides being 6'3'' and up. Setters and liberos are usually the "shortest" players with liberos still being around 6'0'' and setters being at least 6'0''. But many national and pro teams are looking for tall setters that have a decent block. I think only Brazil, France, Japan, and Iran have setters around the 6ft range. But train in varsity and play in a good club team because usually high school teams aren't the best, and most high school vball players will play in a club team to get more games under their belt.

    Funny how they are all doing jump services but not of them are hard to defend. Almost all just straigt across right on the libero.

    I don't think I've ever seen a volleyball game go into 4 sets. Is the NCAA just that lopsided?

    Hi coach im loving your vids ! Im 1,70 cm is it too short for volleyball (im 15 years old)? Should i do more work in impulsion and spikes ?? Or focus on defense like libero? Greetings from Portugal

    • @dmudda055
      @dmudda055 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      just play as what ever you like

    • @IskaRiot84
      @IskaRiot84 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Without prejudice to the position you want to play later on i think it’s always the best to get really good defensively especially early on because volleyball is a game if mistakes. The team with fewer mistakes wins. Good reception of the ball is the most important step in the whole process of scoring points.
      I didn’t focus on receptions when I was younger which held me back later.

    • @sevenmaxwell9668

      Pedro It’s good practice to make sure you’re doing well in every area of volleyball really. Being able to set just in case the setter is out is a great skill to practice and being able to pick up a ball just in case it goes wonky or something. At 150cm, I’m the strongest offence as a wing spiker and a solid defence at the back. But I should listen to my own advice because I can’t set well :P
