I broke my jaw a few years ago (at the beginning of the summer unfortunately) and had my jaw wired shut for 7 weeks. All I could do was walk and some light weights. I walked a lot of the same trails I normally run. It was a bit frustrating at times because I really wanted to move faster. But sometimes, I was able to notice and appreciate things along the trail that I never notice when I run.
many people don't know how it rages deep inside you, how it destroys you psychologically when you are no longer able to go for a normal walk, not even for 10-20 minutes, let alone hike for a couple of hours in our often beautiful mountains and regions in Switzerland! So what must it be like for a professional athlete not to be allowed to run because of an injury and having to suffer through it until she / he can run again! I can imagine it a little, but in my case it is a chronic illness that makes even the simplest walk impossible for me! So to each and every one of you out there, enjoy every opportunity in your life, free time, etc., as long as you are allowed and able to walk in good health! Go out for a daily walk, 30 minutes is enough, or go for a run, and enjoy it....I would give anything now to be able to do that again like I did until my early 30s when that slowly stopped! I pray that you are able to fulfill your dream and have the opportunity to put on a great performance. I’m going to miss you watching you race. I have poster of you next my bed. Next to Lionel and Patrick. Wish I had one of Jan, but when I wake up in the morning I’m instantly inspired. I’m dealing with an injury myself and hope to do a decent performance in October for a 70.3.

I love walking. It allows you to take in the scenery that you otherwise don't see when you're focused on running
Bravo

You are, in my eyes the greatest Ironman triathlete to grace this planet, and wish you would reconsider retiring for five more years.
Sending healing vibes for a speedy recovery. 🙏🏽
Sending you healing energy! I know you hate walking, but thanks for sharing the gorgeous Switzerland walking scenery - wow!

Speedy recovery Daniela! Funny how top athletes would rather be training hard and don't like walking either. 😂
Hahahaha, I also hate walking! But sometimes, we don't have a choice
