Music based on and inspired by Andrzej Panufnik's Sinfonia Sacra (Symphony No. 3), lyrics based on and inspired by General Wojciech Jaruzelski's proclamation of martial law in Poland, December 13th 1981.
Recomposed and arranged by Luka Jamnik
Orchestrations & additional arrangements by Álvaro Domínguez Vázquez
Performed by Laibach with Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra & Choir Gloria at the Kody Festival at Centrum Spotkania Kultur in Lublin, Poland, May 12th, and at the Ljubljana Festival in Križanke, Ljubljana, September 9th, 2018.

This work was commissioned by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of "Polska 100" international cultural programme accompanying celebrations of 100 years of Poland's independence. I will never not be amazed by how based Laibach are. The cynicism and critique of the current situation is just so on point and this performance proves they're still as sharp as ever. Amazing!
There is a hipster music magazine in the US, called "Pitchfork." Among what passes for intelligentsia here, it has some weight.
I found it all too fitting that the first time Pitchfork bothered to review a Laibach was when they put out an album that criticized neoliberalism. Naturally, Pitchfork only shook their finger and dumped a bit on Laibach.

Attended this concert (Sinfonia Sacra + Laibach set) in Lublin. Definitely the most impressive performance I’ve ever seen.

just Laibach was under communist occupation, like Poland. This performance is a symbolic reference to AD 81 when the occupation authorities were killing free people. The "black madonna" symbol is a symbol of the resistance of that time.
This kind of music is fantastic, love it ♡

As I'm Pole, conscious of changes in our word and your fan for over 30 years finaly I se we are brothers in the same matter. But please don't perceive that all polish people are catholic. Many of us of course they are, but not me and big number of your fans aren't either. We can rise with courage in this time of trial as we always did. I'm really sure of that.

@@kaloyangigov4968 II world war started in poland, the main battleground were in our country, we have suffered much more than any other nations and lost millions of our citizens. Because for us that war has ended in 1989 when communism has ended. We were first country in the world which crushed that destructive system and we gave the example to other countries how to do it without starting another war. Except that Polish territories have been taken in XVIII century and our country didn't exist for 126 years. Despite this our culture and language survived. Because we have suffered that much you didn't need. I cannot say that we are messiah of all the nations but our activ participation in history was meaningful.

One of the greatest achievements of mankind - ability to speak truth and seek facts - is being suppressed. Because we let it be this way. Our cowardice has led to situation when we are not allowed to learn the rules of the universe. Still, those who disobey them - lose the game. So, basically, Renaissance is over a long time ago. The lyrics are right on time, not just in Poland, but in all of the world, in these troubled covid-19 times.
Lyrics have to be taken with a grain of salt... They sound patriotic and honorable but it's a quote from the dictator when he imposed martial law in Poland in 1980s in order to crush the workers strikes and democratic opposition...

I recently obtained two first order saints relics....there is definitely power in these objects. A round glass globe with a saints bone which turned into a round globe itself over time, and a gold cross with a bone of another saint. Both are unmarked as to who the saints were. Just thought I'd mention it as I see the Catholic imagery.
