Totally understand the feeling: as a Jewish person, I've been "taught" about the Holocaust since I was five. Yes, it's important, but yes, we don't ALWAYS need it. Here, as a political & historic piece, I DO find it necessary.
This is a brilliant series, but devastating. The HIV tissue isn't really the focus, it's really just a vehicle for the story. It's about their relationship.
I get it about getting tired of seeing the things being portrayed but you gotta remember Fellow Travelers is a gay historical drama, it has to have the aids epidemic.
It's also based off of a book written by a gay man who lived through this time period, if I recall correctly. So yeah, its a fictional story but has... reality in it. A bit. It's not just being written by a young person who just did an extensive amount of research. Ya know?
Oh! I didn’t know that it had a specific meaning. I would have researched it. Knowing that makes the whole show that much darker for me. I'm so sad we had to endure that era. Thank you so much for your insight!!

Oh, I definitely agree. This show HAS to visit it. But that's why these other shows I mentioned are so enticing to the older generations.

Also used in the Queer community. I’ve heard straight people refer to GLBTI as Fellow Travelers.
“Fellow Travelers” means an individual or group of people who sympathizes with communism or communists.
